@LeetStreetBoys I've seen the scenario in this video happen. At a con I went to a few years back, I saw a business woman sitting near the hotel reception, clearly bewildered at the cosplayers. She seemed to just glare at everyone, probably wondering how we could stand dressing up in all those outfits. It's not really their fault...just compared to most everyday activities, an adult who grew up without anime exposure stumbling on an anime convention probably won't be too thrilled.
@LeetStreetBoys Anime conventions haven't been awesome for quite some time. Now that anime, as a medium, has become more mainstream, there's no longer pressure on anime conventions to host genuinely entertaining experiences. Otakon, AX, Anime Boston, Anime North, not a single one has had anything worth seeing since 2008. The main reason for this is because the audience gets younger and younger and wants to do nothing but run around unsupervised, yelling and screaming and generally being annoying
@LeetStreetBoys In the past few years, every anime con I've attended has been riddled with kids literally let off the leash by their parents, screaming 10-15 year old internet meme's (sound familiar?) that they weren't around for the inception of and don't know the meaning of at the top of their lungs because "LOLZ SO RANDOM!" Anime Cons in 2011 are amazing indicators of how far the fandom has fallen.
It's not all cons either. PAX is still amazing every year. So is DragonCon. So is EVO.
@TreetopYodeler Yup. And then you have DragonCon, which is consistently excellent. Look, don't take this as the old man on his porch yelling at the kids on his lawn here. I used to love going to anime cons, they were a ton of fun for a good long while. But the attitudes of the ones in charge paired with the attitudes of their target demographic make for an experience that feels incredibly boring and pithy.
I mean honestly, Anime Boston and PAX are the same day next year. Guess where I'm going.
@TreetopYodeler If the programming was good as well, sure. In general, I'd like to see more 18+ or 21+ con events. My best memories of fandom cons in general all seem to gravitate around the events aimed at older people (The Pokecrawl, the GiantBomb community meetup, the actor's cocktail party at Star Trek Celebration, Hanging out and drinking with assorted voice actors at BakaretsuCon).
But at the same time, 18+ cons that already exist ARE more expensive than normal. We're already paying more
"10-20 year old references?" Yeah, I'm about 20 years old, and I totally remember growing up in the 90's with Naruto, Twilight, Gaia Online, The Game, Kingdom Hearts, Haruhi Suzumiya, Loveless, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Almost every reference they made that WAS 20 years old is still going.
@SalaComMander I see your point about the age of convention attendance getting younger, but they're also getting more popular. I personally don't mind being around teenagers, but it can be annoying at times. Anime and anime fandom has definitely changed a lot and I can see how not everyone is going to like those changes... Obviously we have a sense of humor about what we're doing or we wouldn't be sharing your video with our fans. It is what it is I guess.
I'm just shocked that this guy made a video claiming that your song is in any way similar to being bashed in the head with a hammer, and you praise him.
@SalaComMander Well, he did a clever job in trolling us so we can appreciate that. We can laugh at ourselves. Much more respect for this than the idiots spouting profanity, homophobic and hateful language. The people claiming that we're a basement-dwelling fat men (nothing wrong with being overweight either, but we're not) are totally clueless. It's possible to be an anime fan and still poke fun at the fandom, and there is nothing wrong with identifying yourself as an otaku. Tons of people do.
@LeetStreetBoys Leetstreetboy/s, I don't like you, but I have to say, I have gained a whole lot of respect for you for not blowing up and attacking trolls like a rabid dog. Maybe it's because I'm so jaded and cynical I expect most people on the internet to go crazy at the slightest provocation, but I've been proven wrong (at least this time). I feel like I should thank you, almost.
@SalaComMander I think my feelings towards the leet street boys in general are pretty obvious. But rather than indulging in the usually idiotic internet rhetoric, I thought I'd make something that would at least warrant a laugh while still getting my point across.
Remember kids, you're still allowed to not like things, just try to be creative in the way you express your distaste.
@Mesoian why do you even have to express it if theres something you dont like or care for why not let it be, is it interfering with your life in anyways? does it cause you not to have a job and or money? and no im not just refering to the leetstreet boys im refering to everything in gerneral i think the first step to being mature is letting things go if your still "expressing" your distaste for somthing than that make your worse than the object and or persons in quetion you dislike.
@MastehKeatun If we all subscribed to that way of thinking, no one would admit to liking or disliking anything ever, fearing they may be seen as "immature" or "negative" or whatever else people might think. That, might friends, is when you lose as a person.
Everyone should have the courage to do stuff like this. I don't like it at all, but the leetstreetboys stuff is an celebration of expression. But when you do things like this, you have to expect people to not like your stuff.
@Mesoian Oh i agree to a point, like this video is fine its not as bad as some of the comment i have seen on the leetstreet boys i dont mind some negative comments here there, we need critism to grow i get that, my point was when people take it to the extreme and make it there personal vendetta to try and exspose somthing that dislike and try to force everyone to see how horrible it is, thats all im saying.
But this is the BEST SONG EVER!

@Mesoian Simple solution: Ban everyone under 18 and raise ticket prices to make up for it.

@Mesoian That sucks. It seems like kids ruin everything. First they ruin real life, then they ruin the internet.
