My dad looked a bit like Bluto for a minute when he was overweight, before and after he was shaved. I prefer these older cartoons before the 50's ones re did a few of these original B/W cartoons badly.
From about October to May, I have a beard(which I keep trimmed) and then from May to September, I stay clean shaven. A beard is fine for me in the cold weather, it kinda keeps my face warm but when the warm weather comes in, I shave it off because a beard can leave a tan line on your face, plus it can give you acne in the hot weather when you sweat.
This 1936 classic is MUCH better than the 1953 color remake "Shaving Muggs". Notice that Bluto wasen't too evil in this one. Instead of leaving Popeye to blow up in the barber shop he drags him with him saying "We'll see who Olive likes best!".

No,
She didn't want a clean-shaven man, she wanted a RICH one-- and Geezil the racist caricature Jew IS! rich!
The "clean shaven" thing was just a song she was singing.

0:31 - 1:03 For every time she says, "I want a clean shaven man!" I want you all to say, "No, you don't!" You'll see why at the end of this picture.
