Shelly sounds more like a girls name if it's a male turtle he should have been called Sheldon

In Shelly's appearance (I assume that it was Shelly's debut?) in a story that Bob told about a turtle who wanted to make friends, Shelly told the other animals that his name is Sheldon, but they can call him Shelly.

Aww,I feel sorry for poor Shelley Turtle. Barkley the Dog may be one big,energetic Muppet,but Sesame Street is known for gentle giants like Big Bird and Snuffy,and Barkley is one of them despite his rowdiness.
