  • Her beak is waaay overgrown

  • Looks like she's camera-shy.

  • nice video! check my videos about macaw food nutrition or my blog

  • @ MrDavis007: I started training my budgies when I was about 10 and if I couldn't get them to stay on my hand at all I would start out hand training them in the cage. Get them used to your touch and presence and give them treats so they know they should like you. Once you can get them to stay on your hand for a few minutes then you can try taking them out. Just stay patient with them and they will love you a lot later.

  • My Cockatoo came potty trained to me at a mere 5 months old. My smaller Senegal parrot was the easiest bird on earth to potty train... If you think a potty trained parrot is special, you're a bit retarded.

  • lol! "hello? is this thing on? hello?" lol cracks me up

  • @MrDelvis007 the only way i can think would be to clip their wings, but even with clipped wings they can still fly or more like glide short areas

  • THATS COOL MY COCKATOO IS POTTY TRAIND AND TAME

  • I miss my blue and gold "charlie" He also was potty trained. I would take him out of his room (cage) and take him to his T-stand before playing to potty. He would say all the commands himself. Step up, go potty. It was so easy to take him into stores etc. because he would go on command even if resting on my arm.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW so damn cute!

  • Beauty macaw

  • wow i like it, i have agapornis only,

please i need to help for the training.

    can u help me?

  • 12shamber: Macaws can be good pets if you understand their needs and requirements and can give them the daily attention they require. However, with any parrot I suggest you read up as much as you can, and meet with bird owners to experience them first. A large parrot like a macaw should probably not be your first parrot. Over the years I've had parakeets, love birds, Melle Amazon, another BG Macaw. Reputable breeders usually sell macaw babies for $2000.00. Be sure to do your research first. :-)

  • are macaws good pets? I want one, but everyones saying i'm going to hate it.. and that I should get a cat instead. HELP.

  • thats cool u might have a bit to much time on your hands tho haa

  • awh!!!!

  • its all like.... i can't do it when your lookin at me!

  • heheh your funny and awesome work

  • my Quaker is just naturally potty trained. (or close to it.) If he needs to poop when he's on my should, he tells me and we go to his cage and he poops there. Rarely has he ever pooped on my shoulder.

  • is she still alive? i mean\

  • Shut ur face man flippin hell.

  • please dont wiggle your birds arouond...

  • i would be scared of it seriously.watch your face.

  • Sugga - some people are so bonded to their birds, they

    a) Need not worry about being bitten, as they understand their bird's body language enough to avoid it

    b) Understand that biting is not a natural social behavior and is developed in captivity, as the birds learn biting is rewarded by attention (even negative attention) - a parrot will only bite as a last resort

    c) have been bitten before, and understand it happens when we are not responsive enough to their body language.

  • Thats very cute and very cool! Be carefull though, as parrots will try so hard to please you that they will hold it in until you tell them and reward them which can cause serious problems.

  • This is completely true. You have to be careful. There is a specific breed of bird that holds it and they can actually die because they'll hold it all day.

  • @petes0104 lol i held it for a day and got an infection eww! no kidding

  • is she your gf/?? hahah jkjk

  • my bird you tell him to go poop when he's on your shoulder and he flies to his cage and poops and than comes back to my shoulder!

  • what bird do you have, did you train him to potty?

  • @hulamo11 what kind of bird is that??

  • @hulamo11 how did you train your bird to do that? lol

  • @hulamo11 how did you train it?

  • "hello is this thing on" that was a good one ;DDD

  • Sooooooo Cuuuuuuuutee!!! So sweet parrot! =)

  • thats not a parrot thats a macaw

  • Macaws are a species of parrot.

  • Macaws are parrots...

  • I have a LoveBird know for waking us a 5:00 in the morning, but hes funny cause he hides when people come over.

  • wow your bird is sooo pretty (:

    i loveeee the colours .

yeah i have a pied cokateil lol

  • my brothers quaker gets quite too. he barks like my dog and it sounds almost exactly like her but whenever i try to get it on tape he stands still and wont make a noise

  • you got balls for putting your face so close to that maccaw

  • OMG, so cool parrot

  • lol nice. i wish my bird would do that

  • she's a cutie

  • HA! My African Grey is silent with the camera on too, then its off and she's all "blah blah blah" too. You know... with actual words other than "blah," but she says "blah" too. ^_^

  • nice bird man, you are so lucky owner

  • Boy, that must make your life a lot easier! Do you know if you can do this with budgies? I don't have any right now, but ever since I heard about the whole potty-training parrots thing, I've been wondering if I would've been able to train the budgies I've owned in the past like this. It would've cut the cleaning process by more than a half! XD

  • I've heard that it's usually not worth trying to potty train a budgie or any of the really small parrots. Their small size causes them to poop really frequently, like every 10-15 minutes so they would basically be stuck at where ever they were trained to poop and would be a lot of effort for both of you. I think potty training the larger parrots is awesome though since they do it less frequently.

  • From human prespective its nice to have a potty trained bird. However most trainers & vets do not recommend to potty train your bird. Parrots are masters in pleasing their owner with their behaviour. In other words they may try to poop to get your attention which can cause serious damange to their intestinals & cloaca. Better is to read your tame birds body language and put them on a playtop / playtree when they have to "go".

  • The funniest thing in this vid is when he says "aboot". Canadians. You lads crack me up every time.

  • u look like stifler

  • Thanks, (I think)

  • Ahh, you do! Havent you ever heard that from anybody before?

  • @PeezyWeee

no its the guy who made family guy

  • You're HOT and your parrot is gorgeous!

  • the parrot is cute, but Jason is cuter

  • he or she is soooo cute but how did u tame it???well that easilie

  • can you call me 8052486165

  • wait how do you teach them that?

i have a b&g macaw and i want to teach him

    that..

  • Lol good job.I taught my african grey that when he was about six month old and he cought on real quick. He flies back to his stand when he has to make poop and pee lmao.

  • Poo poo!!!! LMAO. My too is trained as well. I'd say less than 9 our of 10 non bird people know that you can do that with large parrots.

Can you tell us how you trained?

I can hardly remember how I did it, I just remember that the start of it was totally luck/coincidence and then I just reiforced the behavior.

  • i love your bird! i wanna get a parrot SO BAD!! how much does an average parrot cost?

  • like a maccaw? about 1200 bucks i have a african grey he was 1200 plus cage and all it was 1800

  • As I see it, there a two cuties in this video ;-)

  • I aggree!!

  • Where was the poop?

  • Yeah that's great, even though your bird is really cute it's not the only potty trained bird. My scarlet macaw is also potty trained and he goes in the toilet. He tells he has to go by yelling "Go caca!", then after he's done he says "Yeah!"

  • ROFLMOA! thats too funny!

and so true, potty training birds isnt new, but its always fun to share it as a new bird owner, or an owner whos bird accomplishes this.

    Way to go Jason!

  • how can you train a parrot to go to a potty?

    can you show example?

  • there are many methods - as you can see all birds have a different way. My bird does her 'shakey head dance' if some one is holding her. let go she flys back to one of her cages/ play areas and tahdah.

They go about every 15-25 minutes so it is easy if you spend enough time with them.

praise, treats coke/keywords...try them all ..some use the clicker method to train birds. I am looking into that for other training.

  • My Congo Grey nibbles on my ear when she has to go. I do the same thing though, I put her on her perch and she does her thing. When I trained her I always said "POOP" like Beavis so now when she goes she has to say "POOP...heh heh heh heh....POOP"! She's a scream, love my Smokey Bird!

  • OMG! You should record her saying that! I would crack a rib!! ;-)

  • I potty trained my cockatiel too, it's no big deal. xD

  • aww

  • Oh wow she looks so well groomed <3 you're lucky. <3

  • smart parrot

  • Wow she's gorgeous :D I hope she knows that :) x

  • u act like ur going out wiv her lol

  • pretty macaw

  • what a gorgeous bired!!

  • And what a title she has! :D My rainbow lorikeets poops on command- but she doesn't seek my attention when she needs to go- how do you teach that? I think it may be harder with a parrot with liquid poop that 'goes' every ten minutes!

  • It only took a couple of days for my 1 yr old goffin to poop on command. Love that Rachel waves to tell you when she has to go. I just watch the time. I've got my parrot to wait for up to 1 hour to poop depending on activity at which time I take Shmoo to his cage and say "poop". I think I'll try to teach him to tell me when he had to go from now on! Great idea for my next video!

  • TOO !! CUTE

  • how much was this parrot?

  • Average prices in the US range from $1000 to $2000 for hand-fed raised parrots. I got her for much less than that due to the circumstances of the previous family.

  • my Quaker Petrie poops on command, and if he needs to go and I haven't asked him lately, he makes this little "tiff-tiff" sound, and I bring him to the trashcan before he goes.

  • Similar strategy with Rachel. She will either really quietly say "hello" in a cute little innocent way, or she will raise her foot awaiting to be moved. If we don't respond in time to her requests she'll go... So when you gotta go, you gotta go. LOL

  • wow that is so cool i have been trying to talk my parents in to getting me one :]

  • does it talk ?

  • Yes indeed. Check out my other videos.

  • My macaw is also potty trained. She will grunt and stop whatever she is doing. However, it's up to me to move fast. She only gives me about a 5-10 second warning.

BE CAREFUL (to other bird owners), make sure your bird goes on her schedule and not yours. Forcing them to go when they are not ready is very damaging to them. It's even worse if they are instructed to go ONLY on command. In this fatal situation their bowels become impacted.

  • This is good advice. Rachel luckily knows the places she is allowed to go and when she tries to get our attention and we can't act fast enough, accidents happen ;-)

  • Congratulations, you have a beautifull and well-carred bird, love it

  • Thank you. :-)

  • estas guapo... y tambien me gust a tu ave

  • Just a gorgeous bird however I think its a male. Is it DNA'd? I'm usually pretty accurate and have 4 BGs myself.

  • What makes you think that?

  • Sorry. I just saw your question. Usually, the females have smaller nares and their heads are more egg shaped. I have 4 BG macaws in addition to my other birds. I have 2 DNA'd males and 2 DNA'd females. I am usually about 90% accurate on my sex guessing. I vote male.

  • I have a cockatoo and when you point a finger at him, he squats down and poops... so, your bird is not the only one to do that.:)

my bird fetches a feather.. if you type "fetch a feather" you can see him and comment. thanks.

  • Very Pretty Macaw. It's nice to see her so attached to you. I have a mini macaw and she is very attached to me. We love her very much and she talks alot too. We are kindda training her to potty at her cage to but we have to spend more time with her. She does poop on command though. We just have to have her poop like every 20 minutes.:)Ohh and you said your is 99% nice to new people, well ours attacks anyone she doesn't recognize.:)

  • mine cuter ok watch MINE EVERYONE

  • You're hot, and you have birds.

    Marry ME!

  • My sun conure, Bo (he has a channel on youtube, Botheparrot) goes in the trash can next to his cage. These things should be on their schedule, not yours. "On Command" isn't a good thing.

  • Do you have to tell everyone my personal info?

  • Its ok Bo, as your publicist, he wants people to know of your talent. :-)

  • The "on command" is like "will you go before we leave the house"... Or will you go BEFORE I transport you across the room instead of pooping mid-transport.

  • Knowledgable people I know (and books) recomend against going on command, as they might get to the point where they need you to tell them. With Bo, he knows when to go, and where to go. the only time he messes up is when I'm not listening when he tells me he has to go. I can trust him 100%. Amazing bird.

He won't go transporting him across the room unless it's MY fault.

  • Did you figure out how to train him this way or follow a certain book?

  • There is some good advise in "Guide to a well behaved parrot", but Bo actually figured it out by himself. I'm sure I have reinforced the behavior. He's very good at it. See his video, "Bo's Best Trick" on my channel. Be sure to check out Botheparrot for more.

  • dude you are so hott. marry me?

  • thats wicked!

does rachael get jealousy problems between you and your better half? thats my main reason for NOT getting an awesome bird like this.

  • Nope. She likes us a both. But I have heard about birds having that problem. The thing is to never completely socialize the bird to one person. Get the bird used to having other people around and other people handle them. Rachel likes almost everyone. Every once and awhile she meets a particular person she just doesn't like. She must pick up on the aura or something. :-)

  • cool. cheers for replying. now....make more videos damnit! ;D

  • Nope. I wanted to make sure she socialized with other people to prevent this type of thing. Although every bird is different, common wisdom is that you want them to socialize with other people so that they do not become too hatched to just one person, and otherwise anti-social or aggressive to other people.
