We have 4 dragon gobies...they LOVE bloodworms! Don't feed them hard food; they're filter feeders. You need to keep them in brackish water. They can grow up to 3 feet long.
@drjules900 I have been feeding them Hikaris ever since they were small. They are now as long as my arm :) They are one of my favorite fish and get along with everything in my tank. But yes the Bloodworm are loved by almost all Gobies including Dragons
hey what kind you feeding dragon goby I got one put 55 gallon but fishes attacked him moved to 29 gallon with mollies guppies tetera fishes not attack him nothing poor drogn got hurt attacked from angelfish tiger barb plesco redtail shakr
my violet goby is a beast, it lives in freswater, i feed it a punch out of bloodworms a day. it has white sand on the bottom that it makes dunes in every night. beast. it scared my rope fish so much that my rope fish died. the goby being blind would always run into it and filter all the food and wrap its mouth on the rope fish
my violet doesn't have gravel because it is more diffucult for him to eat or get his food. I feed my dragon goby algea wafers and any tropical flakes that fall to the bottom of the tank. he loves to eat those wafers and now he is big and strong
This may be a stupid question seeing as you have gravel in your tank, but can you put gravel in a brackish tank? The guy at the pet store told me that it would turn the water dark...
it would not do well with a pacu or ghost knife just for the fact that it needs some salt in the water, they are sold as fresh water fish but will not last very long in it and will not be healthy. other than that, they are almost completely blind and have very small throughts, they are scavengers and pick up junk out of the sand and rocks, you could keep these in a tank of baby guppies and they would not be in danger at all.

DUDE! Beautiful fish, I hope to get mine that big someday, any advice? I am trying to follow all the guidelines from aquarium sites/forums specific to the breed. It is such a cool fish!
@TheDeadite101 I started mine in a 10 gallon tank w/ brackish water (add aquarium salt according to the directions) , now they are in a 50 gal. I've fed mine canivore delite ever since I first got them, but now they eat several Massivore Delites per feeding (its a Hikari food). I've been dissed, and even called an idiot for having them on gravel, I was going to switch them to sand, but I've had them for over 3 years now, they are about as long as my arm. They are def cool fish
@sTapleEVA I've never dealt with either of those, so I would have to say it would depend on how aggressive those species of fish are. I find the Violet Gobies to be quite peaceful, the only time they've fought with any fish, was eachother and that only lasted a few weeks.
@a009omdu I think the Canivore Delight is about $10 - $20 a bag, and I just bought a big bag of the Massivore for $50. In Canada right now it is really hard to get the Hakari as they are having problems getting it across the border :(
@MegaDave109 I started them out on Hakari Canivore Delite, they were about as skinny as a pencil when I first got them. They now eat several pellets of Hikari Massivore Delite per feeding and are now longer than a reg ruler... so I don't think they are doing too bad, lol. Try the Hakari I think you'll be very happy with the results!
your goby isn't stupid... you are... dragon gobies are blind and in nature they search for slow moving live food in SAND!!! no wondering it cannot tell the difference from the pills and the rocks... i hope you will take my advice when i say you should change from rocks to sand....
@steffenjensen1987 I don't believe I called it stupid, and don't appreciate that you feel the need to resort to childish name calling to make a point. If you seen previous posts I was already considering replacing the gravel with sand, and I obviously must be doing something right as they are now quite a bit bigger than they were in this video and can no longer be measured with a regular ruler.
so how would you recommend me to use the salt? Ok, so i have a 10 Gal. and if do a 25% water change, should i put at least 3-4 tsp for the replacement water? or i should put in 50 tsp for the whole tank?
@43405555 If you have a 10 gal and NEVER put aquarium salt in it before I would put in 2 tsps. Over time when you feel you have replaced 50 percent of your tank with new water than you'll I would add another tsp (only one) Salt doesn't get filtered out, and if you continually add salt to your tank, you'd have well seasoned fish, lol. pt1
@43405555 Seriously though put your dragon on sinking carnivore pellets ( hikaris smaller version of the massivore delite) and your Dragon will outgrow your 10 gal in no time. That is how mine started out about 1 1/2 yrs ago. I went from a 10 gal to a 29 gal and will be needing something larger soon. It doesn't take long on this food :) I am also taking my gravel out and going to use sand instead. pt2
@TheLadygaga707 triple"w"bigalsdotcom . Whether you are in canada or the states you should be able to get it from there. I do know in Canda they are having problems importing many of the fish foods... Hikari being one of them :(
lol, i totally forgot what we were talking bout, lol havent been on my hotmail lately, but i have a question. is your tank a brackish water? or whatever that is, i have no clue what it is man, tell me what brackish water is and what it does thanks.
@43405555 I believe brackish water is when you add aquarium salt to your tank, but I am no expert by all means. The good thing is that this is youtube, so if I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me, lol.
omg yours is so fatty! it looks so healthy compared to the skinny mistreated ones in the pet store. I have one too and its about yours size! do you keep it in brackish or freshwater?
lol i have the same house in my tank but i got the bubbles going my Violet Goby likes to hide in my castle e comes out at night but mines about 11 inches now i got hime from walmart him and the sucker fish fight alot lol but i do got some albino frog they get along great
philly~ they do very well with the small fish, they are considerably lazy. If a little fish is dying on the bottom they will try and suck it up.I by all means, am not a fish expert. So I have no clue as to what the tank temp is or should be. I would worry about housing them with goldfish as I heard they can be quite acidic driving the PH levels up . I'm not sure how true that is though. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful :(
Yes I do :) But I have been doing that even before I got them, it is supposed to be a good stress reliever and help prevent sickness I guess. You are right though they are brackish water fish.
what all will it eat

If they are still alive, they are actually filter feeders, and as such require special feeding techniques to avoid starvation.
