  • So...Chch airport has a bigger runway than Wellington? Just saying that because the Emirates plane lands here and its a 777-300

  • Comment removed

  • @happik Chch has the biggest runway in NZ and the SIngapore air 777-300 lands in CHCH and the Air NZ 777-200 that goes to Japan

  • @harropizza I think you'll find that honour actually goes to Auckland airport, longer than CHCH by about 400m.

  • @MrSydneyKing

My apologies obviously it has changed

  • hello from Italy! thanks for your great video!

  • Where is Wellington?

  • @cagueda LOL :D in New Zealand :D

  • And look at around the 2:40 mark looks like the pilot is a bit off and the landing gear in going on the grass haha

  • @squadlyfer111 illusion

  • Not a very good promotion must have coust thousands, sent a few tons of avgas into the air and showd Wellingtonians an aircraft they cant even fly in, unless they go to Auckland.

  • @squadlyfer111 Jets dont use avgas :(

  • @squadlyfer111 Um, they sell tickets ;) So, no yourw wrong. Plus, if they want to fly long haul they almost for sure have to take Auckland ;)

  • and incredible aircraft!!!

  • very soft landing!!! Nice pilot!!!

  • wow i lived in wellington and never saw a 777 landing

  • Whoa, the airport is really small and so close to the city that I thought it will chop off some electric poles when exited the runway! :) But look how beautifully the pilot landed, flaring the airplane just at the right time - not a second earlier or later!

  • Man . Wellington needs to look at a runway upgrade option. Landing a 777 on that short runway takes some balls . I remember going in on a RNZAF 757 a couple of years ago and that was scary enough.

  • @kieranmacdonald83 Yeah, I'd think it'd cost a fortune though, extending south, out to sea is probably the only option because of the hills on the other side of the harbour (north) would make a steep approach path. Lucky you catching a ride on an RNZAF 757, an awesome, powerful aircraft. :D
