Blind Guardian are by far my favourite band ever - especially their newer albums are just perfect music that still always manages to surprise me. But I can see his point, the drumming on the older albums is quite weak - it's just the doublebase with hits on every fourth and in between linear tom fills. Fast, but technically exceedingly boring. Still Thomen and Freddy rock equally - heck, they manage to do the insane Opera-drumming. :)

When I first heard this song on their album, I couldn't believe what I was hearing when the bagpipes kicked in (the intro is separate from the metal portion of the song in the album). The weird thing was, I'd been wondering about mixing bagpipes with metal for a few days :).
