vastly prefers Cale to Reed and vastly prefers both of them to Andy Warhol's image, but all three of them knocked it out of the park with this one. Favorite song from 'Drella.
Bought Songs for Drella twenty years ago. When I first heard it I thought it was crap. But keep on listening many times this is my best musicalbum ever. Also the song Small Town is one of my favorites.
... which reminds me, this might me a good forum at which to bring up topics like "Nietzchie: philosopher or social critic?" I'd love to see some input from Andy Warhol fans, but I certainly hope the Velvet Underground fans stay out of it. Those people are simply notorious for their irreverent humor!
I remember telling Gore Vidal that even intellectuals are prone to misspelling words unless they are frequently written. He remarked that he had this problem whilst writing his novel Creation, with Zarathrustra, a key figure in the origin of monotheism, whose name is in the title of the manifesto of Nietzchie and also the Richard Strauss tone poem.
That may be so. My point is that even serious thinkers are apt to make spelling errors occasionally. For example, you have just misspelled "Nietzchie."
Your question is very interesting, but at the moment I have the unhappy task of announcing that chandru has misled us about the correct spelling of Rauschenburgh. Believe me, I am as disappointed as anyone. As a rule, Andy Warhols followers are known for their honesty, which stems from the Masters conspicuous devotion to this virtue.
I'm fairly certain that this page hasn't been sullied by Velvet Underground fans. If so, we'd have seen vulgar language and exclamations like THIS SONG ROCKS !!! LOU, YOU DA MAN !!! **WORK** IS ROCK AN ROLLLL !!!! Andy Warhol fans maintain their dignity whilst listening to rock 'n' roll.
Whilst the intelligentsia are apt to spell the names of 60s Pop artists correctly on a monthly or even weekly basis, we are alas but human, and given to the occasional typo.
The trouble with 60s Pop artists, Rauschenburgh, Oldenburg, Lichtenstein, and several others, is that they had few ideas and used each others'. That's the trouble with them. If Warhol had any talent, he was never original. Rex Reeds review: Chelsea Girls" is a 3 1/2 hour cesspool of vulgarity and talentless confusion, about as interesting as the inside of a toilet bowl." Yes, it was just work.
Had you once thought that maybe Warhol's mediocrity was his genius? Oh, and "Rauschenberg" (you spelled his name wrong, which doesn't bode well) was a genius.....you obviously did a google search of 60's pop artists in order to make the very short list you did.....your lack of understanding comes off as ignorance instead of intellect.

Friedrich Nietzsche's "Also sprach Zarathustra" is a manifesto? Isn't it just "Ein Buch für Alle und Keinen" ;-)
