One of the greatest songs from the Bee Gees from an LP Polygram haven't released on CD for years. This album is so underrated, especially as the fact that their 1975 LP 'Main Course' got so much exposure. I think this album is up with the best they've ever released, and I bet they were dissapointed when they found it didn't get too high on the charts, because (as well as 'Main Course') I think it's one of the best outputs from the Bee Gees.
I have the original cd release from 1981! Great Quality, Great Music! This is one of my favourite Bee Gees albums (this original copy was not too hard to find, and the cost was reasonable too). It's impossible to chose one favourite Bee Gees album!
This song is also relevant to Robin's and The Soldiers Poppy Appeal single. Don't forget the sacrifice of the serving men and woman for all of us. As Barry sings in this song: "carry my sacrifice for the sake of the millions" Beautiful song. Barry at his best!
Met Barry and Maurice when they were working on this album. I remember we asked Barry if there would be any falsetto on the album and he said "no". Yeah, right.......!
@tesstink Oh really? I did not know they changed the line. Where did you find this out? I'm just curious. As I love the Bee Gees and their music. And this song. Thanks
This song is "THE SONG". Barry sounds fantastic with his falsetto and the lyrics shake me every time I hear this wonderful music. Bee Gess was one of the best ever!
@basrah2008 No, they are not! Robin and Barry are the Bee Gees. And they are continuing to make great music. And will for along, long time yet! And Mo lives in the music.
I was finally able to buy this cd the other day for a small fortune, can't wait to receive it. One of their best! Thanks for all the uploads love all of them Superchuckbros
Exactly. Barry use Falsetto voice in living eyes. He uses his natural and falsetto voice at the same time in two different tracks. This is a tipycal Barry´s song , perfect song were barrinians can listen Barry in two ways. (he use this kind of recording in several song, making his very famous background vocals, alone, without his brothers)
Exactly right my friend. Barry harmonising with himself on the old 8 tracks sounded even better than when he was with his brothers! Barry's voice was golden during the 80's. The Bee Gees still rule the world but Barry's voice is nothing but pure unadulterated genius!Love it!!!!
The problem the Bee Gees had after being so huge around the world was...what next? there was a disco backlash going on in the USA So Living eyes came along, a brilliant album too, the problem was the Bee Gees were just too successful, that created jealousy among many people. However this album was stunning The Bee Gees continue to amaze me their songwriting has no peers
True true true words, nobody writes songs like the Bee Gees, i could listen to their music for the rest of my life, i am proud to be a fan & u sound like a big fan too XkissmeXkillmeXMCR.......
I had heard that album almost did not have falsettos, so this is the only song that has one, thanks for that comment, Andrewcedric.
Belfastyiddo, the reason about it was not a massive hit may be due to it came after the disco crisis of the early 80's in whith the Bee Gees were treating to re-define their style. It was a hard epoch for them, however and despite all Bee Gees were awesome until ever!!!
That's not right. He uses the "ultrahigh pitched" falsetto in almost ev'ry song on "Living Eyes" exept on "Paradise" and the title song.I guess that's one of the reasons this masterpiece didn't receive the sucess it deserved...BTW. : Barrys so called "natural falsetto" is far much better, but he used it very rare
the living eyes album is a treasure, i truly believe it is one of the best albums ever created, why it was'nt a massive hit i will never know, i spend so many good hours listening to these awsome songs.....Thankyou the Brothers Gibb....

Great song, apparently the line "what are we living for" was originally "what are we fighting" ... but they felt that was too controversial.

I love this song! I pretty much like every other song on this album which is:
Living Eyes
Soilders
Cryin' Ev'ry Day
Don't Fall In Love with me
This is without a doubt Barry's best performance.
