The era when comic books were still magical - the perfect balance of the "real world" meeting over the top adventure and fantasy! It all started to change, beginning in the 1980's, when the dark, gritty realism BS became the gold standard. I look to novels and film for that kind of content. Comics were meant to be something else. When I look at the so-called "comic books" on the racks today with my son, it's truly depressing. This is a GREAT vid! Thanks!
@bodeanism Did this and other slides with software by Magix, most of which just STOPPED working all of a sudden recently; so I guess I can't really recommend this company's products - unfortunately...
@jfilesbooks Wish You lots of success & thanks for the inspiring comment! Lots more of comic-related stuff on my channel to choose from:-) I love and draw cartoons since 1984.
what is the best limited series from marvel with the events before the super heroes, i mean with the old gods, the creation, big bang etc ... all who can relate the genesis of marvel before 1940, thanks
Thanx; gave the CD with the whole show to the staff at the Marvel offices on a personal visit (but think most of 'em were a little bit too ...hm - YOUNG maybe to really appreciate the full scope of this;-)
Hope You' ll enjoy the rest of the time trip, too. Excelsior;-)!
What was the old marketing saying on the House of Ideas: "If You're tired of Marvel, You're tired of life"...
Marvel in the 1960s was the transformation of comic books as we know it. The 1970s went another route. The early 1980s were ok. In the late 80s and 1990s the magic was lost. It is the 21st century the magic is yet to be recaptured.
I still have my Monster Frankensteins, with my entire collection in my storage shed! Many DCs and Marvels including the first appearance of Wolverine.
Great - also just like me (almost, only got Wolvie #1 from '82 & '88). The Ploog-Frankensteins belong in my opinion artistically to the absolute high-points of the medium in that era! You'll have fun checking out the prices nowadays for Your gems there, APanther;-)!
