changing the angle is very easy to increase or decrease resistance..the attachments are bit trickey but once a person gets used to the mechanics it is simple...i have the tgym 1000 that i found on a tree lawn that was discarded due to a broken cable...i replaced the cable for about 10 bucks and have been using it for years....my back used to be in constant pain....after i used the 1000 i rarely have lower back discomfort....i have heard that the bow flex is awesome, too.
Bayou makes a personal gym like this as well, I hear its the same but cheaper...any comments on my comment Rob? Need to really know so I get what I need. Im not overweight, just need to stay tight for looks and fitness, im 180 and 56 yo.
Yeah no doubt i just got one for 20 damn dollars at the thrift store .. still with the plastic on it ... they are amazing i got toned in less than 3 months
@ellonysman Yes, that's a top end machine in their line. Check out their website for their product line. I've got the one just below this one and it is a fantastic product: well made, sturdy, durable, and IT DOES WHAT THEY PROMISE, (if you do the work)!
@robert101455 Im just wondering if I should get total gym or the less expensive one by Bayou...almost exactly the same...hopefully I can get it second hand and cheaper than new from someone on craigslist...even if I have to drive to washington state...I know someone has one that has been abandoned and set "free" to hang clothes on it at this point....lol
@ellonysman I can't really comment as I've never seen the Bayou device...perhaps you should get the cheaper machine to start with just to see if this type of machine suits your needs and works for you. If you like it and if it gives you results, you can always transition to one of the higher end Total Gym models later on...or you might find the Bayou machine does a great job for you and never need to spend more money on the more expensive Total Gym. Good luck.
@robert101455 "if you do the work" that's the rub, isn't it. This machine does make it rather fun to get in shape, but you've got to make the damn thing go up and down. I do highly recommend the Total Gym, for what that's worth.
o and i went from lvl 3 to 5 i can do all my work outs at 5 except the crunches and oble. other than that im good 15 rep each excersie. then i wait take a 3 min breather and do it again and im done for the day
I agree the Total Gym is a solid piece of exercise equipment but it is best used along with other forms of exercise such as standard weights, exercise balls and body weight exercises.

the t-gym is an excellent machine....highly recommended...no impact, smooth movements...great full body workout.
Saintlawrence100 4 months ago
@Saintlawrence100 however, my back muscles are stronger than my triceps, so i would think you would have to constantly change the settings

Who needs real weights when you can spend $2,000 on a piece of equipment with levers, pulleys, pads, frames, and sleds?
Real weights? That's so old fashioned!
