Everybody that learns DADGAD I think tries this out, you do a really nice version more like Bert Jansch's Black waterside, keep it up, we can always use another good musician !
Great job I love that song and you done did it justice!!!!! I love that southern sound and it would've been cool for Jimmy Page to sit in with the Allman Bros!!!!!!
superb..I'm excited about the work you did! I have also a question: Is it standard D and A tuning? I've also have a steel-acoustic now, and i don't want that the strings blow up in my face, when i tune it like that ^^. Cheers, too.
do you know, last but not least I bought my third acoustic guitar, tuned her down to DADGAD and just started to do the same what you did, what I ever wanted to do since years - to learn BLACK MOUNTAIN SIDE hehehe ...
hi, i1ve just viewed your splendid version of black mountain side.can you confirm that the tuning is DADGAD. AND WHATIS THE THE PULL OFFS TO THE BEGIN THE TUNE IN THE 2ND FRET POISITION THAT YOU ARE DOING. thanks .
keep trying. slow it right down make sure you can play slow first. work on each and every little bit you make a mistake on untill they are all perfect then put it all together and speed it up!
good stuff, nice sound, people should check out bert jansch's version of this traditional song (black waterside) if they've never heard it...awesome guitarist!
yeah dude you rock ! it's a great pleasure to hear it. tanglewood guitars seems to have a very good sound. what do you think about the TW155AS super jumbo? it's not too expensive, and I think that it's a good instrument to play folk, or irish folk music. what's your opinion?
Hello mate. I haven't tried the super jumbo. The Tanglewood I played here was a nice guitar but I traded it in recently for a Walden cause I was having problems with the pickup.
Cheers! I learnt it by picking up the tab from somewhere (can't remember where exactly but if you google "Black Mountain Side tab" you should find plenty of places to get it) and by listening closely to the original and trying to play along.
Very, very nice. Check out my version if you get a chance. It's funny how people can take different approaches to very similar sounds. I picked up a couple things from you, thanks.
hey can u help me out? i want to learn this song but lol i dont have any idea how to get my guitar into that tuning. if u could help me out send me a msg ^^ thanks.
You've managed to put Jimmy Page one rung down on "guitar god" status - not that it's a bad thing. It just makes him a little more real - I supposed he's still many rungs above the rest of us mortals.
Your rendition of Black Mountain Side is flawless. Nice sounding guitar - has a good, deep resonance - top looks like a Martin but the body doesn't (sounds like a lot of girls I know...). What specific open tuning did you use on this?
Oooh, I still think he's a guitar god myself. And thanks for the compliments, although listening back now I notice I have a tendency to speed up and slow down a bit. Something to work on I suppose.
The guitar is a 200 quid Tanglewood, nothing special but it plays nicely and records well. The open tuning is DADGAD. On the LedZep recording Jimmy tunes it a semitone lower at C# G# C# F# G# C#, but my guitar starts to sound a bit rattly if I tune it down there.
I never got an opportunity due to a lot of reasons out of my control to take music courses so I am not familiar with a lot of terms.
I assume cover means using your own instrument in synch with someone else playing.

What does the word *cover* mean? Whatever it means you did a nice job.
