Good sitar virtuoso. Bass strings sound ace. Keep going. You have a talent. Take lessons from experienced sitarist. It will made you more happy, more creative. Don't look down at yourself. Practice, practice and once again practice. Enjoy yourself to the full.
Wow I'm super jealous. I really want a sitar so bad. I love the way it looks and sounds. "Love You To" is one of my favourite songs from The Beatles and you played it wonderful. :)
I would say that yes, the Sitar is harder to play than the guitar, just because you have to sit in such an awkward position. But then again, I'm not very flexible... :-)
As for the cost, I believe my brother paid around US$250 for his, but he bought it directly in India when on a business trip.
The ones that don't play the sitar, haven't any right to say if it's good or not. Playing the sitar (for me this sounds like improvising... is it a song ;-) ) comes forth of the ones feeling.
p.s playing sitar is easier to start than on a guitar.
True I have owned a sitar since 2002 and I still can't play as well as guitar. The picking is difficult and the sitting position makes my legs fall asleep.
You're kidding, right? This was spot on! Sure it's not quite as polished as the original, but it's still quite obvious that this requires tons of skill! I still don't get how people can do this instrument!
This is amazing, and the kind of dedication the sitar must've taken to learn is freaking inspirational!
He is my brother, and he IS actually playing... the sound is off set by a couple of miliseconds, probably my fault in handling the video. But as he is self-taught, he probably is not playing the way it should be.
As for my previous comment about the fret positions, yes, they are adjustable, but not using the knobs, these are for tuning the simpathethic strings in the sitar. You can adjust the frets by dragging them... not very precise, but hey, it's an Indian instrument...
That was pretty awesome! I've got a question for you, are the "frets" on a sitar movable? I noticed the knobs on the end of them, what are they for? Thanks! Great job.
Thanks for the compliments, and yes, the frets are movable, and the knobs are exactly for that purpose, i mean, they allow you to move the frets and 'fine-tune' the sitar.

Hello!
charm as you touched me Love you to ... well, a bit of it!
I have two questions:
1 - I wonder how hard it is to play with a guitar sitar
2 - What if one plays a song with an ordinary guitar, the same musical chords can be used to play the same song but with a sitar?
ANSWER IN MY BLOG ON YOUTUBE PLEASE!
thanks for answering and greetings from Venezuela.

However you did skip one note. Still, much better than most, if not all non-Indians who play it today!

Nicely done. Very good indeed.

Had the problem too in the beginning -
but the more you concentrate on the sound
the less painful the playing position becomes.

I just purchased a sitar and the sitting pos. is an issue for me as well!
20 min. and i'm in bad shape!
The sound it makes is so soothing that all is wonderful, until i try to stand.... ahhhhh!
guess i'll keep practicing and see if the issues go away.
or maby take up yoga hehe.
peace.

i didnt think that the transition from guitar to sitar was really hard on the fingers.. but it wasnt easy just to pick up
blablablaROCKIT 3 years ago
the worst part playing a sitar is, its hard on the fingers. And then, one should appeciate a person playing a veena, it will cut ones hand.
