  • I've been trying to recall what version of this song I remember as a child growing up in the 1950's. Not sure yet, but this is really sweet! Thanks for posting!

  • @dongmo1

    Quite welcome!

  • A song from my youth, and one of the best of the pop hits.

  • Vaughn Monroe owns this song. Heard it done different, but not better.

  • @ronetteloverz

I've heard many versions, and they are all good in their own interpretations. Personally, I'm kinda fond of the 1980 Outlaws version myself, despite the fact that it's missing the last verse.

  • Vaughn Monroe and his Orchestra - Riders In The Sky (A Cowboy Legend) (original 78 rpm) May 8 – July 23 1949 11 Weeks at #1 [year I was born]

  • # 1 when I was born

  • please remind me of this comment i left here, because I think I have this on a BILLBOARD comp tape store bought of swing and standards. COVERED BY SPIKE JONES ALSO and KFJC played a few hours of these songs, covered by many different people. I think i have this without surface noise.

  • The #1 song in the USA in 1949.

  • I can remember listening to this song on Vaughn Monroe's 15 minute radio show, on our old Zenith console radio. It sent chills down my spine then, and it still does.......

    Thank you for posting this.......
