I've heard many versions, and they are all good in their own interpretations. Personally, I'm kinda fond of the 1980 Outlaws version myself, despite the fact that it's missing the last verse.
please remind me of this comment i left here, because I think I have this on a BILLBOARD comp tape store bought of swing and standards. COVERED BY SPIKE JONES ALSO and KFJC played a few hours of these songs, covered by many different people. I think i have this without surface noise.
I can remember listening to this song on Vaughn Monroe's 15 minute radio show, on our old Zenith console radio. It sent chills down my spine then, and it still does.......
