Sean Casey predicted that Greensburg was goig to gwt hit and it was on the exact day/the tornado hit! I dont see how he misses so many if he predicted a monster! Oh, yeah! Its cuz Josh wouldnt let the team go there! I hope by now Greensburg is getting rebuilt and it'll be better than ever!!!!!!!! -3-3
Tornadoes are NOT living beings and do NOT choose which path to go through, or what houses to destroy or damage. It was all just a case of bad luck, and consequences of outdated building construction conforming to outdated building codes.
@MIKON8ERISBACK .....consequences of outdated construction and codes ?? .....whatever dude, it's called God's finger and he can pull the trigger on it where ever he wants when ever he wants....tsunami in Japan ringing any bells for ya ??? ......you probably think the devastation in Japan was due to outdated codes and a case of bad luck........It's a good thing God is a comedian because i think he is laughing at all of the human race right now who think they don't need Him !!! ..FYI - John 3:16
No pictures or video can show you what the town looked like. When i saw it i was speechless, it can not be conveyed in words the path this tornado left.
I remember seeing this LIVE on the Weather Channel, CNN, etc. It hit a place inside of me when I saw the aftermath... a town near me (Utica, IL) was left in shambles on April of 2004. I am a firefighter/emt and also a member of the USAR team in my area. I was just a new firefighter when I responded to the town of Utica... it's a sight NO ONE will forget.
The smell, the eerie calm and of course the cries for help.
I'm glad to see Greensburg is rebuilding the town in the fashion they are.
For whats it worth as an Aussie bloke. Hope you guys and gals out their in Greensburg rebuild, and the next one misses you. I've watched a lot of Tornado vids on YouTube, but this is the last thing any God fairing person wants to see. God's Speed people of Greensburg.
I'm sure everyone there thanks you. I've been in some pretty bad tornadoes, growing up right outside of Dodge City, Kansas. They can be scary, but my favorite thing to do during a tornado is watch it. Going out on the porch and look at the wall clouds and the funnel clouds. Then run to the basement really fast!
as a matter of fact i have been recently. like i said i go alot cuz my dad is manager of the kwik shop. and yes it is being rebuilt but not 3/4 is done like you say. it still looks very bad and half the town moved away and wont come back due to the prices of their homes. maybe affordin to live there isnt a problem for you but for half the town obviously it is.
i live in dodge city, about 40 minutes west of greensburg. my dad works at the only store in town right now, so i get to drive through the town quite a bit. It still has a looong way to go before it is even close to being rebuilt. and the going green thing is stupid. no one can afford to live there anymore so half the town will never come back.
firstly, i guess you havent been through greensburg lately... or you would know that most of the town is coming back, second, the going green thing is smart, because when you pay less than $50 on electricity thats smart, and to afford to live here isnt a problem because over 3/4 the town is rebuilding
Love Dodge, but it is getting kinda crappy. I'm from Cimarron. Greensburg is getting rebilt and it is a little expensive to build, but it will be worth it when they get a $50 electric bill, won't it?
i hate this you want a town that was wipe of the map by a tornado Casper South Dakota F5 tornado wipe it of the map this town still had buildings there Casper South Dakota didn't i should know i live in South Dakota
I'm from Greensburg, and this video is taking me back to that night. I hate it, but i'm glad you did this, people need to see this. As far as I've seen, Greensburg hasn't made much progress. I was there a couple months ago, and I couldn't find where my home used to stand. And all this talk about greensburg is going gree, give me a break! Just rebuild my town!
Great documentary. Looking forward to seeing the finished result. Perhaps this film will bring the town more recovery efforts and money, I hope and pray.
Greensburg is such an amazing place.....i was just there yesterday and i couldn't believe how much was still a mess from the tornado...but it was a really great experience...some of the freshmen and seniors from my school (Conway Springs High School)(its about 2 hrs from Greensburg)went there to help with some clean up stuff even tho we were only there for a day i felt like we help in a tramendus way i was great to see.... if you could go there DO b/c u would still have a great experience
How is Greensburg doing today? I was captivated by a Discovery Channel show on storm chasers highlighting this disaster and got online to see more. I simply can't imagine the living nightmare and will continue to pray for total recovery.
This is my hometown....This brought back so much about that terrible day. Whether we like it or not, this is part of our history now..and the world will watch as G-town rises from the ashes.
Brian is hardly making any money off of it, he does it because he cares about your town and his home state. He is a grad student at Columbia in Chicago. I was a storm chaser who chased that night and reported the tornado to the NWS in Dodge City as well as reported live for KAKE in Wichita, I was on this storm from a rain shower.
I am very disgusted with how politicians have been handling the recovery efforts. Where IS this money going? If anything, this documentary will help your town out, because it will bring attention to Greensburg again. People will start asking questions, and those responsible will suffer the consequences.
Great video! My grandpa lost his home there, and we had a distant realitive die. I still can't comprehend the loss of such a wonderful town. I would love to see the whole thing in Spring 2008.
