if the file does not play in the "Music" app, it will not play in hwBrowser as well. Because hwBrowser make use of the same playback engine that Apple use.

@howanghk having trouble downloading videos in general, the videos download but wont play (i.e. mpg movies) think youll release an update for this?

how do I transfer a downloaded file to my PC?

First make sure your iPhone/iPod Touch is on Wi-Fi, and in the same network as your PC. if you are on the latest version, 1.5, you show tap on the Settings icon on the toolbar, it should display a URL at the button, navigate to that URL on your PC, and you should see a list of downloaded files, just click on the file name to download them.

no you can't, as the iPhone OS disconnect from Wi-Fi and carrier data network shortly after the display is turned off, there is no way to override this within the iPhone SDK. However, you may find some useful tweaks in Cyida which can allow your iDevice stay connected while the display is off.

yes. URL History and Bookmarks will be added in future release. I cannot make an ETA but it will be added ASAP.

I don't know why Apple takes a few weeks to review this app, updates to this app are always delayed, so please be patient. (Other iPhone app, for example, the number guessing game, had approved by Apple within a week)
