Also, I noticed how the host of this show and her guests (Kucinich included) went to great lengths to depoliticize Obama's inherently political gestures. Instead of viewing Obama's actions for what they are, they heap praise on him for 'making peace' with his rivals. This fits into the mainstream media's overall narrative - that Obama is better as a 'pragmatic centrist' than a 'radical leftist ideologue.'
I have a great deal of respect for Kucinich and his policies. Which is why I find his unwavering support for the Democratic party so exasperating. I think he is being a bit disingenuous here in asserting that Obama's courting of the right 'goes beyond politics.' By including hawks in his administration, Obama is communicating to the American people that he is a centrist and generally supports Washington's worldview (neoliberal economic policies, military expansionism, etc.) So much for change!
i completely agree, a democrat comes in and fucks up so a republican comes in and fucks up, and so on. Obama is gonna change very little, and the defense contractors and banks will continue to run washington. He might take some troops out Iraq for some good PR but he'll just put some in somewhere else.
Finally! A common sense piece of legislation is getting some great air time! We are all on common ground... we are one another's caregivers... Let's give this opportunity for us to change!
A valuable conversation. "A bright new day" is here thanks to the election of Barak Obama. The conversation about a real Department of Peace is now more possible than every before. I salute Kucinich and others for keeping this initiative alive. It will be a big day for America and the World when it becomes real. Right on. Carry the torch.
Not until we have independents, pacific greens, or constitution party members in an administration.. it's very much bipartisan. And that's a problem, imo.
Both parties are choked by globalist(imo, anti-american) corporate influence. Evidenced at sites like opensecrets()org, with many corporations donating to both parties' candidates 50/50.
Obama. "Change you can deceive in!" I'm surprised Dennis is so easily sold on this counterfeit "Change". Change which will destroy what is left of our personal liberty, sovereignty, the Constitution, freedom, and the United States of America itself. I thought Dennis was for the common man, it appears he is rather for the common state. A common world state where peace is achieved by the force of tyranny, martial law, and dictatorship under the guidance of the ruling elite. Thanks Dennis!
this lady is a moron and did u see the way she was talking about obama as if he was some one who has never lied, which he has on numerous accounts and he isnt even pres. yet! worshiping somthing human is insane she should be in a stray jacket, the way she was talking as if republicans and dems were 2 different partys.anyone who believes in the two party system should be shot for being a moronic threat to the rest of us patriots who would fight to the death for freedom!
I watched a The Onion clip right before I watched this video, and thought I was watching another Onion clip. At least for... the first thirty seconds.
In general, I like Dennis Kucinich. But he likes to cherry pick from the Bill of Rights. This is completely unacceptable for someone that continously speaks of his reverence for the United States Constitution.
The "Department of Peace" that Congressman Kucinich proposes domestically is not what he described. In fact, he completely danced around the question, choosing to be non-specific. The bill he's introduced is an assault on the 2nd Amendment and a total BAN on all CIVILIAN held handguns.
Where in the bill does it say that? The copy of the bill that I have says: "analyze existing policies, employ successful, field-tested programs, and develop new approaches for dealing with the implements of violence, including gun-related violence and the overwhelming presence of handguns.." New approaches does not mean BAN.
It's right on Dennis Kucinich's website. If I'm not mistaken, it was in the 2007 version of the bill. Apparently, for political reasons, the bill's been broken up into pieces:
"First, passage of legislation to create a Cabinet level Department of Peace and Nonviolence, H.R. 808; second, passage of H.R. 676 to create Medicare for all, not-for-profit health care system focusing on mental health care issues; and, third, A BAN ON HANDGUNS which I am currently drafting".
The U.S. Supreme Court has recently and UNANIMOUSLY affirmed the 2nd Amendment INDIVIDUAL RIGHT to keep and bear arms (handguns included). This is a fact that many of us that are very familiar with the Constitution have known all along. It's not a "collective right" as the ACLU and many dems have continued to claim. See D.C. v. Heller (2008).

"Kucinich is currently drafting legislation that would BAN the PURCHASE, SALE, TRANSFER, or POSSESSION of HANDGUNS by CIVILIANS. A gun buy-back provision will be included in the bill.

Of course, any legislation introduced by Kucinich and potentially passed is in direct violation of the U.S. Constitution's 2nd Amendment.
I think the point is that if Dennis Kucinich actually respects, defends and obeys the U.S. Constitution and its enumerated Bill of Rights, then he MUST support the Second Amendment to be consistent -- even though he may not "like" it. Otherwise (and especially in light of the recent SCOTUS decision in District of Columbia vs. Heller) he's most definitely a hypocrite. So, to even consider the introduction of patently un-Constitutional legislation for potential passage, becomes an act of treason.
WHen I say that I mean the speel from the chick at the start about being friends with Political "enemies". There were no real enemies there. They are all in on the corruption and America is blind to it.

I love Dennis, but I wish he would stop talking about FDR like he was a hero or something. Didn't he ever study about the Japanese American concentration camps?
It's one thing to be peaceful toward former opponents, and another thing giving them a cabinet position. Hillary is a snake, as are many of the sociopathic Clintonites, and if Obama appoints her to any position above dogcatcher, then he will prove that his campaign propaganda was just that.
Obama owes the Clintons nothing. They did their damnedest to destory his campaign, and ethics and good taste did not restrain them. The only reason Obama won is because Americans are tired of the usual suspects in positions of power and influence over them.
cut the fucking shit people. in politics you have opposing ideas, if you want to look cute invite your opposition into the party. if you want to make change and get things done make a plan and do the job, all this shit we hear in the news about the Obama is just to please the public. No body wants real change. they like the idea but are not willing to act. We are just seeing more of the same thing.
what's so shocking about finding a common ground? but lets hope this is what american ppl want, (common ground, change, peace..) because country is its ppl, and president & co are just representatives of the ppl, not leaders. too much is expected from obama, how is he supposed to accomplish the promised change sitting in an office, shaking hands & signing papers? ppl seem powerless as always- putting all their hope & destiny into their presidents hands.
Wow! Guess what I'm giving myself for my birthday? I'm cancelling tv cable. The news, and all of tv is so full of crap!!! I probably now watch about an hour a day, at the most. CNN and the like, are info-tainment...not news!!! Look up: Obamas civil defense program and pelosi fairness doctrine. you want change? yer gonna get. btw i wasn't for Mccain either.
Eh... maybe not. In the sciences we must learn to open ourselves up to our critiques because we are dealing with complex issues. When hearing the 'other side' of an issue we often learn something. Obama might be doing something similar.
Keep in mind... These are advisors. Barack makes the decisions. I doubt he's going to go around the cabinet office & ask for votes & the majority wins. These are just ADVISORS, the only power they have is that which they are delegated.
THERE WILL BE ZERO CHANGE WITH OBAMA, mccain, clinton and obama were funded by zionists and are all members on the council of foreign relations.
