  • This song is so amazing.

  • thank god i was born exact 1990.

  • There are few songs that touch you and move you in such a way, that nothing can and will ever change your opinion of such an artistic talent.

  • I'm learning how to play this song!! I can't wait to post a cover version on my page.. very deep and meaningful lyrics. I wish more 'artists' of today would create music like this.

  • I heard Live is getting back togethe,r but without Ed.

  • im so pissed i was born in 94, the 90s was easily the best decade for music within the last century. alice in chains, live, stone temple pilots, pearl jam, soundgarden, rhcp, etc... amazing.

  • @redlettrrebel Dont forget Gin Blossoms and Asylum.

  • @i3oosted Most of these so called "musicians" today don't write any music. Record companies hire people to write music. American Idol is one of the worst things to happen to this country...."I can sing good, so that means I'm a musician. I want to be famous, so I can stop sucking penis to get ahead in life. Oh wait, I still have to blow people when I'm famous? Ok. Katy Perry is my hero."

  • sineads oconnors brother

  • Back in the old days when watching MTV was actually about listening to music.. MTV Y U NO STOP WITH STUPID SHOWS

  • Canadian music is unbeatable.

  • Fucking crowd. Love how the clap begins to die down.

  • Vic Chestnutt wrote the song before Lightning crashes called Supernatural. For some reason that ending part mades its way onto this video because I was wondering the same thing. I found out because I found a bootleg cd download of this performance.

  • Saw them at Pinkpop in Holland back in the late 90's fantastic band!!!

Throwing copper one of the best albums u can buy!!

  • So glad i grew up with this music.

  • i hate it when people clap and i think ed does too

  • great version!!

    beautiful song

    all from the heart!!

  • ...the hippy-dippy clapping ruins the rendition...

  • This song is so beautiful

  • A while back, when i was about 11 or so, (im 27 now) I got money for my birthday, and i wanted to buy some cds. I had enough for 4 of them. So a buddy of mine was at my house, and I told him that I wanted to buy some cd's. Among the four he recomended, was the 'Live' "Throwing Copper" ablum. I put it in my portable cd player, put my headphones on, and I'll never forget that time, because it was one of the first cd's i've ever owned. I still have the same copy to this day. Classic.

  • good guy greg has a beautiful voice

  • I vaguely remember the first time I heard this song, when it first came out... And it's STILL one of my favorite songs of ALL TIME!!!

  • "Beat the fuck out of those drums Dale!"

    Step Brothers

  • Do musicians write meaningful lyrics anymore now? Cause nothing today matches this.

  • No wonder musicians get laid

  • @iillylabrat , nailing groupies gets old and boring

  • definatley not a clapping song. thesse people just dont know music

  • @Trane523

No there enjoying being there and taking part in the song. Unfortunately not an experience I will get to enjoy.

  • I love this sooo much, thanks for posting. I think this version is better than the studio performance. Without fail, every time I listen to this at 1.44- 3.10 the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, particularly at 2.50.

  • my generations music is nothing but for money and producer bull shit. i wish i grew up in this generation where music was truly ment something other then bitches, money, and hoes. im thankful for my parents influencing me to listen to actual music

  • Like x 10,000!!!!

  • its quite simple. if ur band sounds better live then recorded u r good. if u sound like shit like hinder live u suck dick

  • @Taxi502 iv never seen hinder live but iv heard from friends they are good

  • @Taxi502 if you sound like hinder at all you suck dick. aha

  • andre agassi has a beautiful voice

  • @Taxi502 not fuckin andre agassi asshole its ed kowalczyk

  • @tasteynuggets241 no shit

  • @Taxi502 LMAO

  • Song was written by Vic Chestnut, huh? Then I assume that Live put the music to it. Turned out to be one of the top 100 greatest rocks songs of all time.

  • Remember when MTV was cool?

  • Every time I hear this song I cry. This is the first song I heard on the radio after my mother passed away. But I still love this song.

  • @MsCanadiancougar Aww, that's so sad. You'll be great though, I'm sure ;)

  • @MsCanadiancougar god bless her soul buddy ! she'll be forever with u

  • @azarazor I know she is. As I know other people that I lost are too. Thank you so much.

  • I didn't know Andre Aggasi could sing. Fantastic!

  • This is a very emotional song. It is about a mother giving birth, while down the hall, another woman's life tragically ends. I agree about the clapping, there should not be any. The vocals are great and the drummer is doing a great job.

  • this is a great song... now a classic

  • @Dpenslinger That's so true!

  • maybe he thinks he is kurt or eddy.

  • looks like hes had a handful of valium!!!

  • Lightning Crashes...in my brain

  • i have heard and seen this video more than 100 times today and i dont get tired of this song! I just love it!!!

  • Awww So beautiful!!! Glory to God

  • @bigystyle lol!

  • @BigDTinyE I dont think the audience heard you..

  • I farted. It stinks. Need help

  • @bigystyle i think u need to go away

    \

  • @bigystyle

Breathe deep and long....before you know it, the smell will be gone.

  • I need a time machine. The 21st century is all bullshit.

  • @Dpenslinger I prefer this century and all its conveniences, such as youtube and global internet. :)

  • @Dpenslinger

    So was the 20th.

  • @Dpenslinger LOL...........I agree so much!! Music now SUCKS!

  • @Dpenslinger hmmmm, do u only mean this one song? So as Ed says its no Live-Song. it was written by Vic Chestnutt. And if you listen to other stuff of Live there are many equalities to Shinedown of today. So were Live ahead of the times? Or is Shinedown a band that rocks like in good old times? Or Staind? Or Stone Sour? You cant say everything of this century is bullshit. There is so much good music out. But most underrated and not fitting the commercial ideas of record companies

  • @Dpenslinger I concur. We"ve been highjacked.

  • Phenomenal

  • when mtv made sense

  • there drummer looks so badass god i wish kids my age played good music instead of other bullshit

  • @scroggdogg28 i do!

  • @RyanKellySkates well im 18 and play pearl jam , AIC and etc what instrument do you play?

  • good song/i farted yesterday did you

  • I clapped along too!!! So fuck it !! Clap clap no shit clap slower clap... clap!!! yeah thats it!

  • The clapping ruins the song. People need to realize that and stop.

  • classic forever!!

  • ever amazing

  • I'm a metalhead and I felt this song

  • i crying... :,(

  • lightning crashes, a new mother cries

this moment she's been waiting for

    the angel opens her eyes

    pale blue colored iris,

    presents the circle

and puts the glory out to hide, hide...

  • @MisaelDanny pale blue colored eyes*

  • @rpmalone86 iris*

  • Ya, stop negative posting, look for what you like and enjoy...

  • Whos the weird meanie posting negatives?

  • Zo'n kippevel van dit nr... en van Ed natuurlijk..hihi...

  • It's hard to believe that this was 16 years ago. It was one of the most epic shows ever aired.

  • This is one very simple song, yet it is great and not very cheesy, I guess. People shouldd'n be clapping along.

  • CLEARLY, 2 PEOPLE PREFER JUSTIN BIEBER OVER THIS BAND.

  • @Kunatskimaru Clearly, you're an idiot.

  • @pacguy19

Clearly, this guy above is one those people related to/fanboy of/stalker of Justin Beiber.

  • @Kunatskimaru Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you knew me in real life. Where have I seen you before?

  • @pacguy19

I knew it. Get a life bro. Don't waste your gay life on Justin Beiber. Oh wait, you already did.

  • @Kunatskimaru So you think I need to get a life, but you were the one who was trying to get thumbs up on a comment you didn't even invent? Yeah...

Oh, and by the way: I HATE Justin Bieber. How about you stop assuming that just because I complain about your complete lack of originality, I actually LIKE that John Doe of a musician?

  • @pacguy19

U mad? Seriously, why would I want to try to get a thumbs up when I was only commenting on a video, which by the way, you prefer Justin Bieber over this band. 2nd, why would you even say that I'm an idiot? Obviously, my first comment wasn't aimed at you but at those people who disliked this video. So, are you one of those people who disliked this video? Nuff' said, Derp.

  • @Kunatskimaru Again, you don't know me. I didn't either like or dislike this video. You obviously do not listen. I do not listen to JB. Stop saying that I like him when you DON'T EVEN KNOW ME. And yes, I called you an idiot because you're an unoriginal hack who posts stupid comments on videos like this. Stop responding, because you're not worth my time.

  • @pacguy19

So, does this give you the right to call someone an idiot for that matter? Who died and made you GOD? Back at you, good sir. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW ME. Not even worth your time? Hah! Don't even bother to respond coz' you just lost the argument. You just got owned.

  • @Kunatskimaru quit being a phaggot

  • @pacguy19 you too

  • This song makes me so sad because my dad used to sing it to me when i was a baby and now i dont see him much now coz he split up with my mum :( im crying as i type *****tear*****

  • Wow! This performance gave me goose bumps with his powerful passionate voice and the awesome music that moved my spirit!

  • Ed Kowalczyk.....

  • Such a beautiful song. <3

  • STOP CLAPPING ALONG

  • @mjmanning123 People always do it and ruin the performance

  • @mjmanning123 I don't think telling the video will make it stop... I agree, however. When I go to a show I want to watch the performers not be a part of the show.

  • Comment removed

  • @mjmanning123 I agree! How distracting...

  • @mjmanning123 shooosh in the front

  • @mjmanning123

    They can't hear you. It's a recording.

  • This always reminds me of my mom's death and the birth of my first son both on my 25th birthday. I love this song!

  • Why does he say "This is the most beautiful song ever written by Vic Chestnutt" Just prior to singing this? HE is the one who wrote this song. Was he referring to the song he sang prior to this one?

  • @Guitargirl5157 Yes, he is.

  • I remember the first time I heard this in 96. I don't remember the show but it was being played during an accident sceen on a dark and dreay night. The lyrics really dig into your being.

  • i didnt know andre agassi also sings

  • @fursua Ahaha!

  • One of those times when a live version is better than a recorded one. Love the bass line

  • cool "live" version of this . Have always been a big fan of their sound. Love to rock this once in a while in a local cheesy karaoke bar

  • I can feel it, c0:00ming back again

  • How does this not have more views

  • i am in the same room where she was ... good old memories

  • I'm so grateful that God blessed us all with music

  • its so amazing how music really does touch your soul... My Pal Cluff died 17years ago tomorrow and hearing this song makes it like yesterday.. I miss you so much my sweetness </3

  • u gotta love the crowd

  • This was cut weird. The song Ed is referring to in the beginning is Supernatural.

  • 2 people didnt feel it

  • I Can FEEEL IT

  • Thank you for posting. I love this song, but I had not seen the unplugged version. AWESOME!

  • Intense, beautiful, one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard.

  • if you are ever at an unplugged concert, please don't clap. you're not an artist, so don't try to be one.

  • This is probably the best version of the song that there is.

  • Amazing song, thanks!

  • I remember a DJ on the radio played this song right after 911 happened each time I here it makes me think of that moment.

  • This is a "legendary" show - the first broadcast on MTV in April 1995...LIVE- "MTV Unplugged", Recorded Live At The "Brooklyn Academy of Music", NYC, US, Feb 2, 1995.

  • this song reminds me of my girlfriend giving birth to my little daughter.... she was in a noose two days before her birth.... shes magic and the love of my life..

  • @079benjamin you mean her cord was wrapped around here neck? she was very lucky. things like that make me appreciate life more and more. when my mom was pregnant for me she was told that i would be a miscarriage unless she sat or laid down for most of the time. she never told me that until i was 23.

  • I just bought this song on amazon today!!;D

  • kayer3 she can hear it bro! shes an angel now shes everywhere she might be sitting next to you as i type this. your a good man bro. were all brother and sisters love you man.

  • Im showing this to my grand kids in 2050

  • this is a great song!! what is it all about?

  • Ed's voice is so ridiculous for seemingly such little effort

  • I'm sure the one dislike is from VEVO.

  • the person who disliked this..was the doctor...

    best song ever

  • the person who disliked this is satan.

  • 1 dislike ... WTF!!!!!!

  • KAYER3 .. sorry to here that & this is the perfect song & im sure she can!

  • @killedbyseth MTV is just teen drama now. They should change the name to BSTV. Ya i miss unplugged to. Do you really want some of todays bands unplugged...idk. The 90s brought some of the best music and breaking tech and styles, idk if our society can break through as much as we did in the 90s. A decade where so much change was such a good thing. Loves were made and lost. I also miss VH1 and Music TeleVision not what its become.

  • @makinbac0n Ain't that the truth! I'm a child of the 90s.

  • @ 4:41 Chad resembles Neil Peart so much !

  • @killedbyseth Yeah, I'm not sure. It certainly brings out the best in tracks

  • Amo essa música!

  • Chad Gracey = YES!

  • @killedbyseth Oh yea they got it they did lil wayne :/ unplugged not to long ago

  • @killedbyseth havent seen what in a long time?

  • PURE !!!!!!!!!!!! XX

  • This is the best version of Live - Lighting Crashes unplugged. Thanks MTV

  • my sister and her friend used to listen to that song ...

i remember seeing them talking about guys and laughing so hard ...

now my sister is alone, she losts her friend ... we all lost a friend, a sister ... it's been 13 years now. i hope she can still hear that song

  • @Kayer3 God bless you

  • @Kayer3 My brother and I used to listen to it too!

  • @BassPlayerSusan you guys are blessed :) keep listening to that song in every moment of your life !

  • @Kayer3 i'm sure she can

  • @Kayer3 I am sure she feels it! As she feels your heart felt wish!

  • @poconome your words means a lot ! thank you friend

  • @Kayer3 You are welcome, Your words are of comfort as is the song to me... My heart felt wish of great love in your soul to you!

  • I have seen this band so many times; in so many different venues---I would say my best Live show was one I that heard, but did not see. They were in the basement of a Frat house at a college in Virginia they opened for a Boston band called "tribe". My girlfriend and I lit some candles, left the window open in her dorm room and made love while the band played. Nice breeze, cool tunes, and hot sex---ah to be young again....
