Innovative, environmentally friendly vandal proof and a life span in excess of 50 years. Used around the world and has never repeat never failed unlike the EA on many occassions. Yet Upton on Severn get a brick wall how very typical of the UK today.
UKFB almost condemn the example of building a wall along the river bank, yet their own product would require the same process of building a wall, albeit a smaller wall in height. Sorry, but I am confused with this proposal for Upton from UKFB! It appears to be a relatively poor sales pitch with no real substance. Surely if any scheme was to be given serious consideration then the EA or inhabitants of Upton should look to only adopt a proper tried and tested product, BSI approved product!
I disagree, the BRE rate these highly " The leading supplier of flood technology for the built environment in the UK" their scfb is used around the world for over 12 years and has never failed, unlike the EA project in St Ives 10 million of public money and it failed they did not broadcast that. As I remember they did not pitch for this the EA asked them and also the town council. 3 very good plans were put together by UKFB for Upton then disregarded, for no good reason. Fact not hot air.
The example shown by UKFB of a flood defence system consists only of superimposed images as opposed to products working in a real flood condition, so a big question mark needs to be raised about the effectiveness of this solution should this products be selected for Upton. I note with greater interest that UKFBs products do not carry any form of BSI approval, which I believe is the minimum industry standard requirement when protecting properties against the devastating effects of flooding.
Worryingly UKFB have demonstrated no understanding of the issues faced during flood event. The examples shown of the barrier on a shop door & car park fail to address all leak paths enabling both examples to be inundated with water. The glass window on shop will be a major Health & Safety issue with debris potentially causing fast flowing water to impact shop. The car park vents either side of the entrance will allow flood waters into the defended area. Be warned this company looks amateurish!
Glass replaced with 25mm impact resistant units, the carpark vents are protected up to barrier height behind the vents. Do your homework before you start talking about something you know very little about. The people of Upton are being let down by the likes of you and Gsbol little knowledge of a subject and large mouths, who in the end will end up ruinning a wonderful town with a brick wall. Just because you like the sound of your own voice and have small minds that are lead by misinformation.
