this is dangerous and this video should be removed !!!! even if you turn the vales off at the outdoor unit you still lose all gas in the pipe and its dangerous and bad for the environment and banned in most countries !!!! if you insist on doing it you need to call some one with some what of an idea and they can put all the gas back into the out door unit then close the valves then disconnect it. this is a stupid video
i would not recommend disconnecting your evaporator coils from the wall unit, you will release all your freon refrigerant. just clean and vacuum your blow fan most importantly and filter. Just take out the whole front cover, thats its.
This sort of service, at home, should not be promoted. This may result harms as well as big loss, to save smaller profit; it is also not easy for non-technical.
Thank a lot man I didn´t learn anything about washing or how to keep my ac clean, how about a tutorial? you just showed us what you did but didn´t show HOW, I so frustrated trying to find a good tutorial on this and nothing, if anyone knows a good one please let me know or send me the link, thanks!
Mini-splits can be cleaned without having to take them down, but you can also take it down if you do it properly. Before disconnecting the lines you must recover ALL the refrigerant into the condensing unit so that no refrigerant is released into to atmosphere. Disconnect, clean and reconnect. Before opening the valves on the condensing unit you must pull a vacuum on the lines to remove the air in them and not introduce it into the system. This is why it is best to leave it to a professional.
I Have never seen a "Professional" LG servicemen I call every 3 months carefully avoiding the release of this gas into the air. Whether they give a shit about the laws or the environment i don't know. Next time they come visit, I'll take a video showing you guys the "Professional" quality of their work.
i think there's another way to clean the split-type AC.. when you disconnect the tubes that connected thru evaporator & condenser even though its already backseadted, there's a lil bit purge or releases of refrigerant... which depletes our ozone layer and violates our law..practicing may also violates ourlaw...:-)
to do this is very bad for the ozono layer; the refrigerant r-22 that is used in a.c. goes and it´s a cause of ozone layer depletion that eliminates UV radiation.
it´s better not to do it, clean it without discharging refrigerants into the atmosphere.
I wouldn't try this at home!, if you pull the unit off the wall and disconnect the pipes you will lose your Refrigerant and thus need a service call to re-charge, and going at about $80 per Kilo of Refrigerant plus labour it could be a costly excersice! just use the attachment on your vacume and clean the filters regularly you should never have any major problems :)
yes quite right about that. lucky for me the aircon is install with valves at the compressor side and screw joints at the wall unit side. quite a bit of refrigerant was lossed in the process, mostly that remaining in the pipes and in the wall unit, as the tech that did the cleaning turn off the valve at the compressor side.
Since this major cleaning, I have used a steam cleaner to clean the blower fan and also some of the reachable surface.
@ros53 hahaha u don,t have mind ros53 you won,t lose refrigerant becoz it is locked in outdoor unit before removing unit from pipes. but im suprise why refrigerant gas is expensive in 80 $???? im in pakistan and here 1 kg cost 1500 rupes i mean less than 15 dollar
$80 for every kilo !!!!! WoW. I got myself an LG split with 5 year AMC. Every 3-4 months the indoor needs full service along with a coolant gas refill. They seem to do it for free. By the way the 5yr AMC cost me $140.
@TheNecyomantia if they are refilling the gas there is a problem with your install, split systems along with all HVAC are closed systems, you should never have to refill the gas
i like it very much!it told me what is inside the indoor aircon ,and i learn a lot .but i think it would be better ,if show us the parts in detail .so i very very thank to the people or intelligents who have sent or will send these videos .thank you very much!sicerely!
My suggestion.. dont post stuff like this on youtube, the average clown and most other people are too stupid or hasty to take all the required steps involved in doing this.. usually risking fucking up their system.. how bout leaving it to a hvac tech/ refrigeration mechanic lmao
This is a good example of why I detest "consumer goods" I worked in HVAC for over 12 years, and have cleaned my share of coils. When we installed a coil, "if possible" we installed them in such a way that they can be cleaned. These wallmount split units are merely toys. If you have one that gets that heavy use, next time "buy a real one."
it is possable to clean the air con in your house without removeing the coil its always recomended not to open the system and to keep sealed so to go this far is a bit extreme
The removable air filter just under the covers can be cleaned without dismantling the aircon. This should be clean preferably monthly.
For the inner parts like the cooling coil, blower motor, back casing hidden surfaces, the only way is to dismantle the aircon and do a thourought cleaning.
u cant do that at home!!

mini splits are great until you have to clean them.

I can actually see the parts drying as I stare at the pics. Good job on teaching me what I already know... Nothing.

yes fourfortyroadrunner, air cons like this have not change much for about a 100 years already, just cosmetic changes.
Even though they are toys I believe these toys created a billion dollars industry for many.
Unfortunately that is all that is available to most consumers at the moment.
Fancy cooling systems like floor pipes cannot be installed in apartments.
cinemamania 4 years ago
@fourfortyroadrunner Are you perhaps implying that we should all get ducted systems, and what is toyish about wall mounted splits, just curious?
