From what I gathered, a while back (20+ years ago) a girl drowned in the canals. Her ghost haunted the island, and an old man started stringing up dolls to protect himself on the island. They eventually started taking on characteristics of the girl, but the dolls were his protectors so he cleaned and dressed them. A lady went to interview him, and soon after his nephew found him drowned in the same canal the girl had drowned in. Now the nephew does his uncle's duties on the island.

I can go into graveyards at night, sleep in 'haunted houses' without fear, but I can not go into a fake haunted house without crying. Its kinda like a doctor, they arnt going to pick someone who fears blood to be in their hospital, Josh won't take some scardy cat with him, and at times they do freak out.
