i have wondered the same thing, but i done some research on near death experiences, and people that have been dead for an hour or more and brought back to life and told their experiences. and most of them say, its heaven or hell. dr. chauncy crandle has a good true life er story about a man that was dead for a while and then was revived. almost every religon believes in an after life.. i just trust the ones that have been through it, and their stories, because they have died and came back..
it's the big question about the only thing in life you can be certain of, and i feel the same way as your friend to the point i feel guilty about having my kids. All living creatures die. What's so terrifying about that? Look at Dogs, cats, bears, etc. most living creatures don't worry, still they eke out a living, their main worry is to get food. Poor people also eke out a living, they worry about their basic needs. Only the middle class and the rich worry about this. Still you can also think about this: Energy is not destroyed or created. (Einstein said that) It IS better to follow your bliss.
I would also suggest another possibility, you could go back in time, to the time you got born(because time does't matter for you, you are in a no time zone ... like when you sleep). If you are nowhere and if you were somewere some time surely you would exist at lest that time because you existed at lest once... and your proof is your own life.

Craig, just curious... because you talk about a collective consciousness (god?). Are you an Agnostic, or a full fledged Atheist? I'm sort of on the fence. I don't believe in the Christian god, because The Bible is just absolutely ridiculous and I don't believe in heaven or hell, but I can sort of see why people would turn to religion, because they want an answer as to why we exist. Something can't come from nothing, right? Well, I still don't know this... and no one will, likely.

What I mean when I say "you" are given life I am referring to when your soul begins to live in a body that is being created or formed (however you want to put it) with uniqueness. I believe we come from God and we do go to God when we die to get judged which is my belief. So we come from God and we go back to God as you've said. But there is more to it than just that.

Well Craig, we might discuss about beliefs and what we think is true or not. But everything has a purpose and a meaning and I am studying the facts of what I believe in strongly and of course my own experiences with my belief (which is having a relationship with God) includes evidence in my own life. And the best of all is being able to feel a joy that nothing or anyone in this world can give.

You said that maybe after we die we might get a clear view of everything. And I believe that is true because when I go back to the Word of God I can find out that the people that are described as lost and separated from God forever (which is hell) finally realize the truth that they have been rejecting throughout their lives and they regret giving up the chance to being saved by Christ.

Well after all I have learned and analyzed about the Word of God, there are cases where a person has been in hell and they have worried for the sake of their family not going to suffer in hell like that person is (story of Lazarus and the rich man). He was crying out to let his brothers know to listen to the truth or they would suffer just like him.
So this means there IS the possibility of worrying about other things after death.

Also, you cannot say a person has died if they have not lived in the face of this earth. So being unborn doesn't mean you are dead, because being dead means you lived and THEN died.

THe thought of" being born just to find out you will have to wait to die" is pretty much like saying "I don't know what I am here for" or "I don't know what my purpose is in life". And of course if you don't have God in your life, living makes no cense at all.
When your parents were children, you were in the mind of God (and this is a mystery of God), and God took pleasure in creating you and molding you the way you are with the people who came together to have a baby.
Yeah, it's scary because no one knows what lies ahead and they cant be prepared for such an event. No one knows exactly how to be prepared to die because they really have no idea what the right answer is unless they go towards an answer that lies above our own minds. Above our own reasoning. It's not a mystery because I believe the Word of God when it tells me each person is established to get judged by God Himself after they die. And I believe depending on our judgement we will either go to heaven or hell. @gamjahamster Well, as soon as your heart stops, the brain stops getting oxygen. Cells start to die right away. After a few minutes, too much damage has been done to ever bring back the structures, and therefore the functionality of the brain. Even if the person started living again, there would be no brain activity. However, there have been cases where someone had drown in freezing water and revived almost a hour later due to the cold water preserving the tissue.

I agree with most of what you say. I can't help thinking however, that believing that nothing bad can happen is not entirely true. As a conscious being I have felt extreme highs as well as extreme lows, and everything in between. I have also experienced prolonged, obsessive darkness, even though rationally it was without cause, it was inescapable. I am not religious, but have often thought of this as an example of what Christians call Hell. A feedback loop of negative thoughts.
i think it would be neat if we were reborn....im not Buddhist or whatever religion believes it but i think if we get to have another life, it would be sweet

Well, this all depends on your description of death, and what you truly believe dying entails. I dont think i want to say there are only a few set options for death, because you never know. We living people, dont know what is on the other side, if there is another side, because we cannot interact with 'dead' things. If there is life after death as some people claim, then technically your life doesnt end, it continues in some other form, but it is still life nevertheless....

There may only be 2 possibilities to you, but maybe there are 3, 9, or even 15 possibilities. I think in this three dimensional life we think in three dimensions. When our parents were kids, we existed/non-existed in another dimension then as we will exist in another dimension after we die. I see "religious" and non "religious" alike explain their belief, opinion, dogma as if it were humanly comprehendable. We are limited by the 3 pound organ we call a brain. The answers are outside our mind.
We are never really gone only our body is gone back to the earth and a brain/mind missing to process the fact that we are missing something. You are correct. At death we then stand in the face of REAL reality about what we (as creators) have created on this earth and within this particular dimension. What about the pain of squeezing through the birth canal? Besides, these are physical sensations of the body, irrelevant to your soul. Dying can be painful, or quick. But that's the body's problem. YOU may overcome these things.

Of course, this depends on whether there IS an afterlife. As I stated, there are two possibilities; when we die, we either learn of an afterlife, or we don't, and if we don't, we're not here to know the absence of it.
I feel that every conscious person is asking in there state of living, what is right and what is wrong. So everyone children,babies the grand of thinkers and designers are seeking the knowlege is what they are experiencing

It's my belief that when you die you're gone, dead, no spirit, no soul and you will never be here again. Sounds rough I know, but it's the only thing that makes sense to me. The universe doesn't care about our silly little rules about justice. There is destruction all over the universe. And there's rebirth as well. If you kill someone, you're not hurting the grand consciousness, or the universe. You're only hurting that person, and their loved ones. But in the grand scheme of the universe, that's like killing a dust mite in a forest. It doesn't affect the forest at all, and there is no justice necessary.

i have wondered the same thing, but i done some research on near death experiences, and people that have been dead for an hour or more and brought back to life and told their experiences. and most of them say, its heaven or hell. dr. chauncy crandle has a good true life er story about a man that was dead for a while and then was revived. almost every religon believes in an after life.. i just trust the ones that have been through it, and their stories, because they have died and came back..

All living creatures die. What's so terrifying about that? Look at Dogs, cats, bears, etc. most living creatures don't worry, still they eke out a living, their main worry is to get food. Poor people also eke out a living, they worry about their basic needs. Only the middle class and the rich worry about this. Still you can also think about this: Energy is not destroyed or created. I would also suggest another possibility, you could go back in time, to the time you got born(because time does't matter for you, you are in a no time zone ... like when you sleep). If you are nowhere and if you were somewere some time surely you would exist at lest that time because you existed at lest once... and your proof is your own life.

Craig, just curious... because you talk about a collective consciousness (god?). Are you an Agnostic, or a full fledged Atheist? I'm sort of on the fence. I don't believe in the Christian god, because The Bible is just absolutely ridiculous and I don't believe in heaven or hell, but I can sort of see why people would turn to religion, because they want an answer as to why we exist. Something can't come from nothing, right? Well, I still don't know this... and no one will, likely.

Where else do souls come from? I respect the Bible, but let's be logical here. Religion was invented by humans (fact), but God was not. What I mean when I say "you" are given life I am referring to when your soul begins to live in a body that is being created or formed (however you want to put it) with uniqueness. I believe we come from God and we do go to God when we die to get judged which is my belief. So we come from God and we go back to God as you've said. But there is more to it than just that.

But everything has a purpose and a meaning and I am studying the facts of what I believe in strongly and of course my own experiences with my belief (which is having a relationship with God) includes evidence in my own life. Well after all I have learned and analyzed about the Word of God, there are cases where a person has been in hell and they have worried for the sake of their family not going to suffer in hell like that person is (story of Lazarus and the rich man). He was crying out to let his brothers know to listen to the truth or they would suffer just like him.
So this means there IS the possibility of worrying about other things after death.

No one knows exactly how to be prepared to die because they really have no idea what the right answer is unless they go towards an answer that lies above our own minds. Above our own reasoning. Above our own power. Just like death. Death is above our own power and we can't choose when we die unless you commit suicide.

It's not a mystery because I believe the Word of God when it tells me each person is established to get judged by God Himself after they die. And I believe depending on our judgement we will either go to heaven or hell. @gamjahamster Well, as soon as your heart stops, the brain stops getting oxygen. Cells start to die right away. After a few minutes, too much damage has been done to ever bring back the structures, and therefore the functionality of the brain. Even if the person started living again, there would be no brain activity. However, there have been cases where someone had drown in freezing water and revived almost a hour later due to the cold water preserving the tissue.

I agree with most of what you say. I can't help thinking however, that believing that nothing bad can happen is not entirely true. As a conscious being I have felt extreme highs as well as extreme lows, and everything in between. I have also experienced prolonged, obsessive darkness, even though rationally it was without cause, it was inescapable. I am not religious, but have often thought of this as an example of what Christians call Hell. A feedback loop of negative thoughts.

Well, this all depends on your description of death, and what you truly believe dying entails. I dont think i want to say there are only a few set options for death, because you never know. We living people, dont know what is on the other side, if there is another side, because we cannot interact with 'dead' things. If there is life after death as some people claim, then technically your life doesnt end, it continues in some other form, but it is still life nevertheless....

religions are just man made stuffs, its ridiculous.there's no "heaven or hell"...i think earlier people brought this concept of religion to make peace among us, so dat we wouldn't take wrong measure..fear was created...and an incentive(heaven) if u do good..wat was made up to make peace is the reason for suffering and deaths now...

There may only be 2 possibilities to you, but maybe there are 3, 9, or even 15 possibilities. I think in this three dimensional life we think in three dimensions. When our parents were kids, we existed/non-existed in another dimension then as we will exist in another dimension after we die. I see "religious" and non "religious" alike explain their belief, opinion, dogma as if it were humanly comprehendable. We are limited by the 3 pound organ we call a brain. The answers are outside our mind.

Hi Craig, this is a great.
We are never really gone only our body is gone back to the earth and a brain/mind missing to process the fact that we are missing something. You are correct. At death we then stand in the face of REAL reality about what we (as creators) have created on this earth and within this particular dimension. Did we create an equal world where heaven on earth can exist.. or did we just survive the ride only to be worried more about the here-after rather than the here?

then why do i not know. remember, sense, hear, see, smell, etc anything about this "place" before i was born, my consciousness know's NOTHING about it .

All of me I know is my memory, I am my memory and it starts somewhere after birth...or even later because I don't remember for sure except I have some dream memory about being in the last place where I was forced here by aliens. I think those bug eyed grey's can see souls and their ships were called shooting stars and they scoot about messing with souls. The time travelers disclosing now probably know what happens when you die, they probably cover it up to please the aliens they work with.

@CraigTube You have no point, which is why I humour you. To answer your statement, no I will not become a politician today because I am not religious i.e. I would not fit in. I believe in science. Instead of listening to gobbledegook about life after death, I look down a microscope and see for myself. And as for the school system brainwashing me? You act like atheists are the majority. If they were part of the system of lying politicians, then all they would teach would be religion.

@CraigTube The big bang is an excellent theory in my mind, and in my eyes- it is the truth. I am given hard proof and I have come to this conclusion by myself (not pushed by the education system). I don't have time to tirelessly argue a point which others will never agree on. So I surrender, agree to disagree :)

ugh. I hate this life.. :( i just want to get it over with! ya know? like about the hole after life part of it.. My mother had passed away and i became a phsyco emo thing, and the night after i was late on the computer just crying when i felt saomething touch me.. I couldn't understand what was going on, i believe it could have been my mother but who know, Deffentally not me, i'm just some emo kid right?

What about the pain of squeezing through the birth canal? Besides, these are physical sensations of the body, irrelevant to your soul. Dying can be painful, or quick. But that's the body's problem. YOU may overcome these things.

Of course, this depends on whether there IS an afterlife. As I stated, there are two possibilities; when we die, we either learn of an afterlife, or we don't, and if we don't, we're not here to know the absence of it.

I feel that every conscious person is asking in there state of living, what is right and what is wrong. So everyone children,babies the grand of thinkers and designers are seeking the knowlege is what they are experiencing
right or wrong. Since we experience these right and wrong notions we can then test and see if something is right=correct, or wrong=incorrect for the given cercumstance. We become judges at very early ages.

The world was once believed to be flat and thousands if not more people lived there entire life on this so call truth of life. These were educated, science minded people/teachers, that instructed the others/students of life).

Did that change the way the world opperated, indeed it did. And just one person believing that as truth changed something in the whole worlds future and history. So please don't dare say that one person that died for all that ever lived and will live didn't change anything. If you believe that it didn't you could be hindering someone else of finding out that the world isn't flat. In conclusion, I would say that the brightest of minds are still lacking knowlege and truth. Are they not?

It's my belief that when you die you're gone, dead, no spirit, no soul and you will never be here again. Sounds rough I know, but it's the only thing that makes sense to me. The universe doesn't care about our silly little rules about justice. There is destruction all over the universe. And there's rebirth as well. If you kill someone, you're not hurting the grand consciousness, or the universe. You're only hurting that person, and their loved ones. But in the grand scheme of the universe, that's like killing a dust mite in a forest. It doesn't affect the forest at all, and there is no justice necessary.

This is exactly it we were supposedly designed as a slave race left behind and then advanced to what we are today. I mean darwins theory says we evolved from apes. If thats the case why are there still apes? evolutionwould mean that there would be no apes as they shoyuld have all evolved into humans.
