I was camping with my girlfriend at Trail of Tears on the Illinois side when the explosion went off. We didn't know about the demolition that day. We awoke from a deep sleep to the noise, thinking that a shotgun went off right next to us. Pretty scary at the time, but funny now.
Only thing that kinda makes me wonder.. some parts kinda looked like they fell at odd angles.. lil dangerous lol.

I know this has been 5 years ago, but it is still sad for me. I grew up in Cape and my Grandparents lived in McClure IL.
During the early 60's to late 70's I went across this bridge countless times.
I remember how it would scare me and at the same time fascinate me as I watched out the car window while my Dad would drive across it.
I hate the look of the new bridge. It has no character.
