The other difference is that monkeys have lived on the planet for millions of years sustainably. Humans and their complex machines - are managing to create a small but real extinction level event risk for ourselves after only a few tens of thousands of years.
I say flex some muscle and ram those tires! Find new resource neutral ways to go forth in the world so there is something to leave behind.
I agree with you there but a machine can usually save time building more walls faster making construction cheaper this making home available to more people. There is a trade off any way you do it. One way is pure and natural but labor intensive. Older people wouldn't have the muscle and larger building wouldn't be possible without more labor and that equals more cost. The other way is mechanical
Hahaha, yeah I actually agree with you. :) And believe me I enjoy the comforts of technology. But in this case I don't think you can get the same rigidity in the tire without using a sledge to ram it up under the sidewall. I don't think the guys would do so much work if it didn't create a superior end result.
Lower labor would require different technology.
But I would love to try! :) One day when I've got time, money and a piece of land I'd love to build an earthship!
When I went to Taos to stay a few nights in their Hybrid Earthship, the lady in the office said that it takes their trained crew about 4-5 minutes per tire. She said the average person could expect closer to 12-15 minutes per tire.
@droplogic66 Hey that means I am going way over board on mine. I am building a tyre walled stable for my goats and it is taking my 45 mins a tyre till the dirt feels like rock...2nd day in and it started to rain hard I am working with clay aaahhhhhh....4 days later and it is still raining hard ahhhhhhhhh.... the gravel drains working a treat....pleasing...
This looks backbreaking.
How did the project progress? how long did it take to make these three bricks?

The difference between humans and monkeys is that humans build complex machines so they don't have to work their ass off building a wall.

A simple machine could spray the dirt into the tire under pressure and the middle of the tire could be compressed with hydraulics.

If you don't like the idea of machines doing work for you than you really should strip your clothes off and weave your own.

I've never seen a monkey build a wall.

Monkeys have never built walls that I know of but they have been seen paying for sex.

You could also use a jackhammer type machine for compacting your tires faster.
That's what i plan to do.

and they weight 200-300 pds

Nice bricks. Couple of questions. How long did it take you guys to fill one tire? Also, do you have a guess as to how much they weigh?
