  • Damn. Got the chills. They just don't make good music like this anymore.

  • man, this is Otis' best live song ever. my favorite.

  • God, does it get much better than this, really? I think I might end up taking out my tweeters playing this at full blast. Those horns! Righteous noise.

  • SOUL MUSIC. We have allowed this type of music to be hidden by supporting these none-singers today.

  • Otis Redding.. Pure real soul.. what else can you say.. Period.

  • This is the best Otis vocal I've found of him live on youtube. There are a alot of great singers, but his soul was unmatched in his vocals.

  • Otis you'd be 71 years old now. We love you just as much as we would if you were still alive. R.I.P.

  • R.I.P. he died 44 years ago today.

  • @UntchA Oh my. Was it that long ago?

  • I got my first exposure from my parents of OTIS of course..In this performance he clearly shows us what a true artist does with a live band, with a song meant for him to sing, he ownes his audience from the first note..Pure raw talent soul, r and b, grounded with GOSPEL* This is my lovers prayer and I want it to get to you....I feel I can do anything listening to this track...I love the band too..OTIS singing in HEAVEN and the ANGELS swaying back and forth .....

  • @at559 True to that! I am sure it will happen in our lifetime. If you are in the U.S, PBS showed a documentary of his life some years ago.

  • The horn section is incredible! There's a tuba playing back there....amazing!

  • Watched the BET awards and the best performance was Patti LaBell

  • People remember where they were when they heard Kennedy died but I remember where I was when I heard Otis died. I was lucky to see Otis life on the Stax show in the UK in north London - what a show - Otis, Eddie Floyd, Aretha Franklin, Sam & Dave, Markeys backing, Arthur Conley, Carla Thomas. Hid under the seats to try and get to see a later performance but was found.

  • @martinrdg LOL. WOW!! you dont get shows like THAT any more! I saw Sam & Dave and Eddie Floyd on stage many moons ago. i always regret not seeing Ike and TinaTurner live in their prime

  • this is my lover's prayer, Amazing footage, i was not alive for this but i can understand it otis amazing

  • The real king of soul

  • @grayj52, oh that breaks my heart, my heart goes out to you. I always loved that song, its a beautiful song and I'm sure your wife was as well. = (

  • High school music for me from the 60's. Was the first song played at my wedding in 1975. My wife died in 2005 and this was played at the funeral. Attitudes seem to be different now.

  • @grayj52 I wa introduced to Otis Redding by my dad as a kid, and he's haunted me (in the best way) ever since, thank you for sharing something so personal on a place like this... reading your words touched me... respect xx

  • I just NEED to find the one who dislike this song and i just need to kick him in the balls

  • Otis is the king

  • I'd like to take the person that disliked this down to my hometown of Macon, Ga and throw them off the Otis Redding Memorial Bridge!

  • bon sang ,que de moments forts ......

  • Why do these motherfucking bitches always delete the cd versions :S This is a guy who has been dead for over 40 years now.. Who the FUCK is still making money on this? Its called heritage, it doesn't belong to anyone!

  • @TTFLS oh, they still sell many records by him

  • Lmaooooooo @ BBA

  • One person had his screen upside down when he voted

  • This man had more SOUL in his pinky finger than others had in their whole body. He was simply the best.

  • the dude that disliked this song is so alone, i so don't wanna trade place with him right now lmao!

  • THIS MAN IS THE KING

  • 1 person who disliked aint got a soul..

  • @Klipmode

aint that the truth, Otis must be rolling over in his grave for the shit that gets passed as "soul" & "R&B" these days

  • @jackisrantingagain AMEN..I FEEL U...THERES NO SUCH THING AS REAL SOUL MUSIC TODAY..NOPE..SORRY..NO WONDER THE WORLD IS IN KAOS...LOL

  • I just wrote the most amazing stuff about this song and how amazing Otis Redding was and when i just finished my masterpiece, I accidently pressed some other link and lost it all before sending it and I'm too damn drunk to remember and now I'm damn pissed off.

  • fantastic!

  • just amazing..probley my favorite song by otis

  • He's got my respect and that some

  • Thumbs up if The Sopranos brought you here.

  • What's remarkable is that he was in his 20's when he was singing (he died at 26). Think of all the 20 something singers out today. How many 20 year olds these days have mature voices like this?

  • Otis Redding is a soul king. Long live the king!

  • I had the opportunity of seeing Otis Redding in the "60's at the Peppermint lounge on 45th Street in the Times Square area.Great Band on stage Dancing The Philly Dog To Satisfaction. The Days of the Go go girls.Great time

  • a true romantic!

  • sopranos

  • I heard this song on The Sopranos, they played it three times in one episode, I had to find it. Now I love it. Amazing when I read the lyrics and could actually relate to it. The soul is just amazing. Music just ain't good like this anymore. R.I.P. Otis.

  • I love this song... Each time I hear it, a tear roll down my eyes... :_)

  • No one else van make you feel the pain in his voice like Otis, he's probably the best soul singer ever, can you believe he died at 26!!!

  • @ooodeviousgeeooo so true, the only other singer who can match the emotion of Otis is Mr. James Carr out of Memphis Tennessee the most obscure soul singer of all time.

  • Their should be 41,797 likes right now.

  • Otis Redding, for all the good, bad, up, and down in his life, was the "Herald of the Heart". There never was any doubt that this man-from the moment he took the microphone-was about to tell you his "heart". You were about to hear the heart announced as if from Gabriel's trumpet. No other male vocalist has ever equaled the sincerity of his voice rendering the pain of a lost love, the depth of love, or the playfulness of a romance in a way to remind every soul of the emotions involved with each.

  • I listen to this song ,and you can,t help but feel the soul ,and the passion that this song delivers ,very touching .

  • otis was a genius and he sang from his heart and soul. i agree with mr blues. i love him. gone too soon!! thanx soso much for posting!!

  • This is a bad man...that's all I can say.

  • Otis was a genius. As to pure soul, he was the best.

Straight ahead not gospel not blues pure soul.

You can get a PhD listening to the Big O.

His plea was pure heart felt.

and went straight to your heart.

No one has or ever will touch him.

    RIP Mr. Redding

    Sincerely Mighty Mo Rodgers

  • Powerful--thank you for this

  • What you gonna do tonight when you need my loving arms to hold you tight?

  • Maravilhoso! Ele é o maior, sabiam... rs

  • I love the fact that there are 0 dislikes right now.

For those who have no taste in soulful music, don't bother clicking the red thumb, go to another song :)

  • What a talent! I can't recall how old he was when he was taken away from us, but it was way way too young.

As a film director if i ever get given a decent budget il happilly make a movie.

  • @TheVegasgirl26

Why is it that it's always the wrong people who have the money

and resourses and not able to the right thing . You would think

with all of the successful Blacks in this country who could be so

helpful in the promotion of our all of our historical contributions to

the world and in the end ,they are totally impetant in doing anything about it.

  • @TheVegasgirl26

OTIS IS THE BEST, the sexiest, the most soulful, the greatest!!!!!

  • @TheVegasgirl26

OTIS IS THE GREATEST, THE SEXIEST, THE MOST SOULFUL, one of the best soul singers ever!!!! I am enraptured by this song!!!

  • @MrLittleoldlady ....you got that right!

  • @TheVegasgirl26

I believe that Nat King Cole was the first to have his own show

  • @TheVegasgirl26 if only all blacks would be like him, too bad most of them now-days sing shitty hip hop and sing about prostitutes, drugs, money, and homicide.

  • @RafaelM94 Running your mouth about something you obviously know nothing about. About 10 companies own most of radio stations in USA and a handful of companies on recording companies. They put this garbage out. Plenty of talented singers, rappers in Black community. And too bad all whites couldn't be like John Brown.

  • @RafaelM94 Who gives a shit about white people?

  • He was truly great.

  • I love this song because it is simply his soul over song.

    Such emotion!

  • Omg...i LOVE this man

  • @BeatsYouCanDig

Okay! Hey, you got any more? I am building a website for soul classics. I am starting by posting Otis Redding, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Marvin Gaye clips...then I will follow with the other artists...

Anyway, I'll check your videos, but I'll be including this on the website!

  • @IkeDyson i tried to upload a video of Carla Thomas singing Comfort Me on my channel SiccShirt, but WMG blocked it from other users. but you can check out some Gatemouth Brown videos i posted on that channel, he was the leader of the television show's backing band.
