You look good in "leathah". Randy got it wrong too, the expression on your face during the perf complemented the song perfectly. Another "side" to the Hicks persona. How many "layers" do you have?

A lot of those singers on Idol wind up being copy cats of Whitney Houston or Nickelback, or what have you and Taylor to me was the one singer in all of Idol history that personified what a great singer should be.

I'm not the first to say it, but this compares most unfavorably to Alex Lambert's performance. I never thought I would say this, but Lambert's performance equaled Jason Castro's suberb "Hallelujah" -- the two best performances, better by a quantum differnce, ever on American Idol. His elimination must now rates as the show's all-time worst blunder.
Hardly anyone knew of this song until Taylor sang it and he helped RL get a boost because of it. However, all he got from Ray was meanness. TH has a better voice anyway.
Since I've never heard the Montagne original I don't have preconceived ideas about how it should sound. I liked Taylors rendition and found it quite moving. Each should be judged on their own merits - not compared to others.
Jonas, I hear Daughtry all the time. Am happy for his success as he seems like a straight - shooter. It does not diminish Taylor's success. He was so overwhelmingly popular on AI that he basically ruined the show for all the years to come. lol. Post-AI, he has found his niche. Will it be the wide swath that Daughtry has? No. But for those of us that prefer Hicks, it's a much deeper appreciation.
It's called personal preference my friend and Taylor sings a lot of blues music so that gives him more emotion than anyone who basically sounds like a goat every time he sings the same type of song over and over again.

Since I've never heard the Montagne original I don't have preconceived ideas about how it should sound. I liked Taylors rendition and found it quite moving. Each should be judged on their own merits - not compared to others.

Jonas, I hear Daughtry all the time. Am happy for his success as he seems like a straight - shooter. It does not diminish Taylor's success. He was so overwhelmingly popular on AI that he basically ruined the show for all the years to come. lol. Post-AI, he has found his niche. Will it be the wide swath that Daughtry has? No. But for those of us that prefer Hicks, it's a much deeper appreciation.

It's called personal preference my friend and Taylor sings a lot of blues music so that gives him more emotion than anyone who basically sounds like a goat every time he sings the same type of song over and over again.
Duaghtery's second CD is a basic repeat of his first--same ole same ole.

Just wondering, is Daughtry more successful? I'm not bashing Taylor and saying he sucks, I'm saying I've never heard his songs played in places or on the radio, while I've heard Daughtry countless times. Not bashing Taylor!

Just because Chris is played on the radio more doesn't mean he's better. Most of the music they play on mainstream radio these days is nothing but trash anyways.

Taylor - just wonderful. Wondering, why do some of Daughtry's fans feel so compelled to still attack him after all this times. Gee, didn't he come in 4th. Daughtry was very good. No doubt about that. He had a legion of 15 to 35 year old male rocker dudes waiting in anticipation for his first recording. And they certainly weren't disappointed. So really, what's the beef?

ohhxitsxcbear........................for the thousandth time, Taylor won over Daughtry because Daughtry was FOURTH. He wasn't in the TOP TWO. Other than that, he is just more versatile and talented.

This guy is still a good singer and a great entertainer. I am looking forward to seeing him again tonight. He became a celebrity press whipping boy because of early contract disputes. Almost happen to Kelly too but she pulled back in time. Idol has power and idolettes better mind. Dont't cross them if you want to be heard.
