it seems that the best way to be a saint is to be a priest. I think i'm too old but i would love to study to be a priest even if i die while on the way to being one. I'm still strong.

@tinahale62. he scriptures (both the Old and New Testaments) do support some of the traditional beliefs surrounding relics. In the Old Testament (2 Kings 13:20–21), a dead man was once resurrected after touching the bones of the prophet Elisha. In the New Testament (Mark 5:25–29), a woman was healed after she touched the hem of Christ's robe. Likewise St. Paul's handkerchief healed in Acts 19:11–12.

can I ask why do some saints go on display ad remains on otrs in jars wldn't be more resectful to leave the saint whom r not in a whole phyisical body display just to leave them in their grave or crypt then just get bits and pieces of hair and body parts on display for the world to see as in my opinion I don't see as being very respectful to them or of the memories of their past lifes however wonderful they are. plz note plz don't see it as a attack on the catholic faith as it not meant to be

@DanielR305 A) theyre Holy Relics and possessing a Holy Relic is not only a wonder in itself but it gives one hope and strength-for example if i possessed a relic of the blessed Saint Anthony of Padua i would feel privileged and comforted. B) many of them are miraculous-such as st catherine, whose head remained preserved, saint cuthbert, whose whole body did not decay but was left whole for hundreds of years, or st anthony, whose tongue remains preserved

To us Catholics, our saints are the great heroes of our Faith. They have gone before us in truth and love of God, making the most of their broken natures to worship and serve the Most High. Many of them were terribly persecuted during their lives, many were martyred, but they remained true to Our Blessed Lord. If you do not understand the Communion of Saints, there are many resources on line to help. God bless all!

No human is worthy of any amount of veneration or worship because we are all sinners (Psalm 14:3, Romans 3:23); we are to worship God and serve Him only (Matthew 4:10); and God will not give His Glory to another (Isaiah 42:8, 48:11).

@kiwichristian2009 Quite right, which is why catholics don't "worship" saints, but there's nothing wrong with respecting people who have served as a good example. Jesus, Paul, etc held up "righteous" men as examples to be followed, and did so in language that implies those people are worthy of respect. It isn't stealing any glory from God to acknowledge human achievements. (btw i myself am not catholic)

Psalm 148:13 says, Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven. This makes it quite clear that only Gods name (not Marys) is to be exalted. (In Catholic Bibles the numbering of the chapters and verses of some of the Psalms is slightly different.) When people tried to give Mary special honor and pre-eminence because she was His mother, Jesus corrected them.

@kiwichristian2009 As for serving God only, we are called into a life of service, and don't you think this includes serving each other? In fact MOST of how we serve God is through service to others.
