  • This song reminds me of how the radio used to sound.......Ah the good old days!!!

  • Great line "IF YOU DON'T EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM ME YOU MAY NOT BE DISAPPOINTED" I tell my wife that alot. LOL

  • some people say our new record reminds them of these guys, even though theyre way before our time! check us out :)

  • This is a beautiful song that took me years to fully appreciate. Only now, looking back on mistakes I've made in my life, can I relate to the lyrics and they leave me with a strange ache.

  • reminds me of my reckless youth....love this song

  • My sister used to sing " heyy josie! "

  • "If you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down."

Now I know what I should have been telling all the people I disappointed :P

  • good song... <3 RIP Doug Hopkins.. I miss the 90's...

  • A criminally underrated band. They were never anointed by critics, didn't play the rock game the way it was supposed to be played in the 90s. More power to 'em.

  • I know them <3

  • Fantastic Song!!!

  • Goddamn I miss being young in the 90's. Fuck hipsters and the economy.

  • Hey people since the 90's are over its our job to keep them alive.

  • 'cos all i really want is to be with you...........and feel like i matter too'.....dont we all ;)

  • Please read! I am a singer/songwriter/guitar player and really want to be discovered! On my channel are some of my originals and some covers that I think if you like Gin Blossoms, you will like the ones I have done. Please check out my channel- I could really benefit from some feedback! Thanks! :)

  • Dude does the lead singer look like Bill Paxton or am I imagining it?

  • This song was number 1 on the day I was born

  • @Rand0mburgeR Wow, thanks for making me feel ancient. Little bastard........

  • Fuck ads and fuck Vevo! I wish there were a way I could watch on a normal channel.

  • It's hard to believe any part of the 90s was "20 years ago". Time to feel old.

  • @gothatway09 as a 34 YO I couldn't agree more, throw in some kids and DEC 31 seems to come around every second day!

  • I used to think it said "Hey Chelsea".

  • "If you dont expect to much from me".....

  • trust me not to drink,,,,, well not really me but orig lyric

  • you can trust me not you drink.... and not to sleep around

  • that sad moment when this song is 20 years old.

  • This band went into the toilet after they screwed over Doug Hopkins, they treated that dude evil! They raped him seven ways from sunday, and every song they did after that just blew chunks. They suck so bad they put Hoover out of business.

  • my son was going in the navy, and yes he had the hey jealousy, on the back burner. she stayed and followed him, to santa cruz after the navy.. but he set her free and now I have a great daughter (in-law) and 2 beautiful g-babies.. but this song will always take back to the day's:):):)

  • @dra4myboys I was in the Navy when this song came out ... we all had hey jealousys but your son sounds smarter than most of us were LOL

  • @xthemightyseanx This is not that bad compared to flops in pop music... Collective Soul made good stuff early on. Their albums were always shit but songs like "December" rang a little bit.

  • @xthemightyseanx : You scrapin' it off your shoe? What possibly couldn't you like about this song,or for that matter, the whole album?

  • Hey Tennessee! Hey Jealousy! Hey Chelsea! H. L. C.!

  • If i hadn't blown the whole thing years ago I might not be alone.

  • @gutstotake being alone is better, haha trust me your not missing out

  • Cannot wait to see them in Roanoke, VA

  • my favourite Gin Blossoms song

  • Im 14 and i miss the 90s............

  • @DReidGuitars How could you miss the 90s?

  • @Chrono86 how could you not?

  • @DReidGuitars I miss 'em too. =/

  • the one song that can automatically bring tears to my eyes... I'm sorry love I wish we could go back and do it all over again, the right way!

  • @TheBipolarKitty I think the same thing everyday.

  • Check out the fake estate cover of Hey Jealousy in my Videos

  • oh my love,if only i had a time machine..??....

  • @mrcrimsonveil1 my EXACT thoughts!!!

  • 'Found out about you' and 'Alison road' are great tracks too. Shame that the difficult second album wasn't so memorable...

  • amazing song! love it! thank you Doug for your music and lyrics!

  • I woke up this morning thinking Gin Blossoms... Wow, 1992, feels like yesterday..

    haha ,\/,, <3 (=

  • i'm from England too, and quite a few of my mates love the Gin Blossoms. This song is a classic - beats all that manufactured pop pap flooding the airwaves on both sides of the pond - apologies for inflicting Cowell on you lot too....

    Cheers one and all......

  • hey! jealousy!

  • 38 people are jealous

  • cuz all i really want's to be with you

    feeling like i matter too

and if i hadn't blown the whole thing years ago

i might be here with you

what a fantastically honest, heartfelt, and true lyric

  • I have been looking for this video forever!! I can't thank u enough for posting this!!

  • Today back in 1993, co-founder of Gin Blossoms, Doug Hopkins, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age 32. The guitarist and songwriter was in a detox unit of St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona when he snuck out and bought a .38 caliber pistol. The next day Hopkins committed suicide. Rest in peace Hopkins, April 11, 1961 – December 5, 1993.

  • @SpectreRSG I was not aware that today was the day of his death. I can only imagine how many more great songs the world would know if he were still alive. NME is one of my all time favorite albums.I was just playing this song on my acoustic which is what brought me here to the video. Thanks for the info.R.I.P. Doug.

  • @SpectreRSG Today, a few hours ago, Vtech happened again.

  • @SpectreRSG i think its fucked up, he was kicked out and dead before the two songs he wrote for them got out

  • @SpectreRSG sounds alot like someone else we all know....

  • @SpectreRSG by the way...... thank you for posting this. I never would have known who the actual songwriter was.

  • @SpectreRSG Sadest day around..I watched on mtv news and found out the moment after.. and cried.. wow... amazing life.. such a tragity!! RIP!

  • New Miserable Experience is one of the best albums of all time. Yes that's what I said. No it won't show up on any list by Rolling Stone or Spin or Vh1 but that doesnt mean shit. Great rock and roll

  • @meglaw69 The thing is, Gin Blossoms themselves are one of the best bands of all time and still won't ever appear on these lists.

  • @Majora99 I agree with you.I too am obviously a big fan of Gin Blossoms but I am actually surprised to see someone from the U.K. make that statement.I did not think they were very popular in England.

  • @meglaw69 There not actually known at all in the UK, only people with a good taste in music would know them ;)

  • TUNE!!!!!!!! working away from home wiv 10 good lads,,,,,,this was always first on jukebox after work and would always lead in2 mad frenzy of ale and music,,,sum of the lads are still married to their 1nite stands,,lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great song,,great memories,,,, great times sadly passed ((((

  • Love this song. TUUUNNEE!!!!

  • SuPEr IdOL ..... !!!

  • Damn I love this fucking tune =]

  • @GhostsInMyAttic Hell yeah !!!! Me too.. I jam it on my guitar every thim I play...

  • @TheWarbird72 I`ll tell ya a day doesn't go by when I don`t listen to this song I love it.

  • I memorized this song back in high school because it as (1) awesome, and (2) in my vocal range. I really wanted to perform it at one of our choir concerts, but the teacher in charge didn't think it was appropriate. *sigh* I miss the good music from the '90s.

  • @assrod That's why you shouldn't rely on the radio to form your opinion of new music. The stations are working based on their own agenda's and are going to play music accordingly. It all comes down to the almighty dollar. There is some decent music out there but sadly, unlike my era, you have to look for it elsewhere. I never push a band but if you haven't already, take a listen to Band Of Horses "The General Specific" live at Amoeba Music. They're kinda new and they rock the song. Its great.

  • A lot of people wish music was like the 90s again - if you want a return to decent songwriting why not take a chance on RED DUST ROAD? • "The past might be gone but something might be found to take its place." Yeah probably the fall of the music industry. What the hell happened?! Nobody makes good stuff like this anymore that's for sure.

  • @NostalgicTimeMan Amen. I could not agree more. It's amazing ho much music has changed and not for the better

  • 90s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • back when playing a fender was cool lol. miss the 90s

  • Fuck Vevo. Great song.

  • No wonder I couldnt find this song for more than a decade. I thought it was called hey josie! JEALOUSY!

  • @cagv818 lol, i thought it was Hey Chelsea XD

  • i want to go back in the 90s too...

  • cool

  • i still think he put the fish in the blender lol

  • @Headcase1591 Yes it was the Bass -o-matic

  • as i recall, the real narrative of these songs come from the bandmember who wrote most of these songs and died/killed himself

  • @larrygentry yeah, you're right. The album "New Miserable Experience" was one of my favorites of all time for like 5 years growing up. But once the guitarist killed himself, they really never managed to put out any other music like this. This album was undoubtedly the peak of their career, it's a shame they had to crash and burn the way they did.

  • @BloodEagle729 I just commented on this on another video. Doug Hopkins was the co-founder of the band and wrote most of their "hit" songs, which the band used and gained fame from, even after Doug's death. He had depression since childhood and then became an alcoholic which made an already bad situation, worse. He was a really sick man. The record label told the band, it's him or us so they booted him. Pretty shitty IMO. He needed support, not a kick in the teeth. Where's the loyalty???

  • I am here cause Pandora has taken a temporary cruise on the Fail Boat.

  • @assrod On that note what bands/producers have had a serious impact on you as a person? Nujabes (RIP) changed my life and my perception of hip-hop as a real art form. The music of the 90's, especially groups like the Gin Blossoms, will always hold a special place in my heart.

  • FUCK todays music...clear enough that this generation dun know the real music....

  • my friend is related to the singer

  • I'm only 14, and I love this song.

  • @mitchel121996 I'm only 2 weeks old and I have this song on my ipod. beat that nikkuh

  • Who wants to listen to this shit when it takes forever to load?

  • @MattWhatsGoinOn Exsqueeze me? 8-10 pauses in the first 30 seconds? Ta-ta, already, and for the sake of decency, actually POST this comment, will ya?

  • reminds me of my friends in college. those were the days

  • This is the good ol' days. I miss this kind of music...

  • this song makes me feel like a fool now

  • Anyone who likes this song would surely like my recently published 5 star book of poetry, "Between Chains and Freedom" by Daniel Lee Wilt.

    Available around the world.

  • i miss good music

  • Formula for getting 100 thumbs up on your YouTube comment:

    1. Go to any music video that came out before 2000. (even if the song was bad)

    2. Say something along the lines of "This is when we had real music, unlike today's pop shit". (even if the song is bad.)

    3. ?????

    4. PROFIT!

  • @ornjoos I can't believe mother fuckers thumbed you down. I'm thumbing you up!!!

  • This is back when bands played music that rocked!!

  • @ornjoos its kids like you y this your generation sucks!lol

  • i dont even think people know what real life is anymore...everybody's so caught up in this online imaginary world

  • @cbra66 Yeah everyone else but you're above it all

  • I'm 15 now... And it sucks to admit the truth that I missed the 90's big time... it sounds lots of fun :(

  • i will always love this song! <3

  • @stuckindms yea that's another good one. How about that one song that goes like "hit me with your best shot!" It sounds more like hit me with your pet shark. Hahaha or werewolves of London. Sounds more like werewolves of thunder. Hahaha. Check it

  • Heyyy jelly seed! Heyy jelly seeed...

Every time you hear this song you'll hear "Hey jelly seed!" Ha ha

  • @crackE262 Ahhh! Too funny - How 'bout Hendrix? "Scuse me, while I kiss this guy!"

  • Aaa the 90s I time when we didn't have a place to go but yet we could drive around town and have the cops chase us around looking for something that just might be found......cause gas was like 2 bucks a gallon and people had to be at home to use there phones and your Facebook was call AOL - you've got mail. Yup the 90s simple times. Good times.

  • @crackE262 Actually, dude, I wanna say gas was under a dollar when this song came out... I remember when gas hit $2.00 a gallon, I was in San Luis Obispo and was pissed. Twenty bucks for two gallons...

  • @genericallyaccepted Uhhhhh, I think your math is a bit off. Are you paying $10/gallon?

  • @jrdrag3505 Hahaha, I meant ten gallons... Asshole ;)

  • watch?v=umDFuO7F8qQ

I wrote this song and its got a sorta 90's feel. let me know what you think

  • Someone please invent a time machine already.

  • @RulerOFmany Amen

  • it's too bad they blew it with the video. they should've concentrated on the emo lyrics instead of the rock beat, and this could've been an interesting/affecting video. instead it's totally forgettable. i've already forgotten it.

  • @heddalee Who gives a shit about videos? The music is what counts. This is a great song.Yeah maybe the video will be forgotten but the entire album is great. How many acts can we say that about today?

  • memories :')

  • My mom used to play this when I was around 7-8, Im 19 now and I'm just started to appreciate this, ahh 90's you keep my nostalgia.

  • This was also one of my dad's favorite albums, he died when I was 6, so it really reminds me of him.

  • @DopeSick408

My dad loved this cd when I was in elementary school. I'm 23 now and I'm glad to say I got to enjoy Gin Blossoms for many years. Especially living in Arizona.

  • id do anything to go back to the 90s

  • @MrLedzeppelin41594 Yes, but 1995-1998

  • @MrLedzeppelin41594 of all the decades you pick the 90s?!?!?!?

  • @MrLedzeppelin41594 -- I miss them too

  • @MrLedzeppelin41594 -- I miss them too!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Allied Quarter

My band grew up in the 90’s; check out our songs, we tried to bring the 90's back by writing music that pertains to the rock from that genre. Enjoy!

  • I wish I had appreciate the 90's more...

  • Doug Hopkins was a brilliant writer...RIP

  • Love these guys ;-), got to see them play mant times!!

  • This song was hot in '94 I think. I remember crying the whole way back to Tucson after reconnecting with my high school love, knowing I would lose her again and I did.

  • OH FUCK YEAHHHH GENNNN BLOSUMZ 4EVAHS

  • This song was the song the first time I had sex lmao I swear

  • why cant this song just be hey jessy instead of jealusy

  • the pride of Tempe, AZ...again...why?

  • Probably the first song I "drumsticked" on my 6th grade math book to...

((( Sony Walkman on 99X radio station- my 239's know this. )))

  • i remember mowing lawns while this was pumpin thru my vigin ears VIA my Sony Walkman

  • All you have to do is look at the number of karaoke shows that are on T.V.to get an idea of the state of music today. People that had previously been singing into a hair brush while looking into a mirror are suddenly recording albums because the studio audience felt they sang a Mariah Carey cover better than any of the other contestants. While bands of skilled musicians play live gigs and remain usigned. Fucking pathetic.

  • Agreed with you completely!

  • @lob287 I have to say I agree 100%.I'll be the first to admit that some the contestants have good voices but I question wheather or not someone should get a record contract just because they can sing a cover and have a decent voice. I remember on David Letterman he was talking to some guest that mentioned American Idol and Dave said " Don't we have enough singers" and I think that pretty much sums it up. They all become pretty forgettable

  • @lob287 these days all u need to do is know how to breathe and u can get a contract

  • @lob287 They call it 'reality T.V" But it's more like 'Alice in Wonderland.' What's most expedient and profitable for the Masters who control the Airwaves is what wins. Don't forget that the 'fuckin' establishment is still the Rule. If you have anything that might contribute to the real advance of humanity than you are quietly shunted as a 'wayback.' Maybe those who have recently been 'occupying Wall Street and other cities,' might actually have something important to say to us all.

  • @jeff62rey Well said I could not agree more

  • @lob287 Read "Dirty Little Secrets of the Record Business: Why So Much Music You Hear Sucks" by Hank Bordowitz. it's on amazon. should clear things up

  • @spjunkie Hey thanks. This definitely looks like a book I want to read.

  • @lob287

totally agree! difference is that the reality tv ''singers'' last 6 months,if that.

people will always go back to class

  • @lob287 That has been their exact plan for music since they tried to hijack the movement in the late 60s, it went from being free, for the people, by the people, to a corporate run profit machine. Not only that, but they saw what music did to the human mind, how it could change people, create movements, awaken peoples minds to things they would have never been awakened to without the music. They've turned it into a circus of wanna-be stars who care about their looks and fame than music.

  • @lob287 No shit !
