I think the bad economy has something to do with why people might not tip as much, if at all. Plus another factor is that people just don't respect Waiters/waitresses like they used too back in the day. I mean Unless you're upper class or had parents that taught you good manners.
I get that a lot of my viewers aren't in the states, in which case the whole concept is different. but if you live in the states, you need to know these things. I love my job, and like I said, most of the people are great. Overall, I get paid good money... but it doesn't make sense to literally have someone do everything for you (get drinks, food, etc) and serve you for free (or even pay for you)
@coolfuka The US government "assumes" that people in service industry gets tip for everything they serve. Thus, these poor souls get taxed like 10% of everything they serve. If you tip your server less than 10% of your meal, they end up indirectly paying for your meal. To make matter worse, their basic pay is shit. So the standard definition of tipping may not really be applicable for US. That being said, i'm still reluctant to let go of my money.
SOLUTION: Get a real job. Seriously if you don't wanna be payed like a slave or by the cherish nature of good people in a economy that happens to be somewhat good ATM don't become a waitress. If you do don't be a bitch about it.
In a lot of countries tipping isn't customary, so when people like me go to other countries we usually dont bother tipping cause it's not what we are used to. The whole tipping thing doesn't make sense to me, why would I pay even MORE than I have to :/
tipping is really a complicated topic. Fustrated as you are, you also must understand why people do not tip. I would avoid working in the FnB industry all together
accept any tip, coin or notes just be fucking greatful!

Here in Australia the government moderates a base rate of pay which makes sure people are payed properly for their work.
Most bar/restaurant positions fetch roughly $18 per hour for people over the age of 18. (You don’t rely on tips.)
Tipping is usually something you do when you’re overly pleased with the food, service, atmosphere or entertainment. It is not compulsory.
Lastly be happy you at least receive tips. Almost every job outside of the restaurant business does not receive them.
