sorry, but you've obviously missed the point of the FTL drives of various sci-fi series. they're there to get AROUND the universal speed limit, not ignore it.

personally, you don't seem to be the right person to discuss sci-fi, as you need to understand the sci before you can elaborate where the fi comes in.

also, you can't just dismiss something within sci-fi, simply because it has mystical elements, that's just stupid.

aside from your comment about matter and energy (just wow.. btw) i'm going to pick a bone about the "faster than light travel" (FTL for short) part. Despite popular belief, most sci-fi i am aware of doesn't use true FTL drives. Star Wars = Hyperdrive. They literally punch a hole into "hyperspace" where matter moves faster in relation to normal space, but the atoms don't actually move any faster than in normal space. (in hindsight, tough point to illustrate.)

Why that's a bad example is simple, the energy is like that of rivers...

Sun evaporates rain, pressure forces water vapors up, and then down allowing a turbine to turn, but only due to the sun. The plants thing is a bit more complex, but more obvious I'd think.

Sunlight allows the extraction of carbon out of CO2, and carbon is quite reactive... unless I'm mistaken : /

In my opinion, Marvel has done something I have feared it would do in 2002. They are altering classic continuity to make it appeal to those who have been introduced to Spiderman through the movies. This attitude is ludicrous. After Batman Begins, Batman didn't suddenly start wearing black Kevlar. Trying to make the comics feel more like the movies is like deliberately tampering with a famous work of art to make it look like a cheap imitation.

It was a hype driven gimmick like all of Joe's ideas that take too much advantage of the unfair advantage that Marvel, as well as DC, has over their rivals in the business while saying they have better talent, but they do seem to have bigger egos at times. It's nothing more then fandom over creativity while Joe sees himself as a hero to the readers judging from his interviews.

One thing that irritated me a little was that replying to viewer comments actually took up more time than addressing the actual topic of the video.

Is Mary Jane really such a fan favorite though? She has seemed like a firm part of the Spider-Man universe for a while now, but I've never felt she was particularly loved by the fans as a character.

Some fans like her, some don't -- but I believe most fans see the marriage as integral to Spider-Man in the mainstream universe at least. I've personally respected and enjoyed the way MJ's been written by some writers, but other depictions of her character make me want to shove her away.

Personally, I'm irritated by this decision because I'm afraid fan backlash might make other Marvel writers keep Peter and MJ together in other universes for the wrong reasons. However I thought I'd just correct you slightly on one point - according to a strong rumour it will not be Peter but MJ who will accept the deal with Joe Que- I mean Mephisto, who in return will retain her knowledge of the marriage and gain super powers as the heroine 'Jackpot'. Personally, I see both OMD and the effects it will have on Brand New Day to be VERY bad.
