  • This right here... this shit right here...

    This is that truth.

    Song is illmatic.

  • Never knew duke was originally from Chicago...he killin' dude's that's out now and this joint is mad old!

  • oldschooool 4 ever

  • Hip Hop died of a heart attack in late '96...

  • @TheHumanBallsack Wrong. It got stuck up, robbed, and shot.

  • @TheHumanBallsack hip hop died in 2010

  • Ironically I first heard this in 94 when I was in Japan. Got back to the states and it had it's run but I found the last cassette maxi single in the store, still got it to this day. Then some years later found the 12" in a resale shop for a buck, let my homie Dave borrow and ain't seen it since :.(

  • THREE DISLIKES!

    I'M HOT!

  • Out of everybody that used this sample, this is my favorite use of the "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" sample. Lyrics are on point and the scratches are ridiculous. Props to E-rule.

  • Classic! One of my all time favorites...

  • Respect 2da GodBody !Erule u still gettin luv on here sun!

  • iiiiiiilllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssstttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

bow down to this shit peeps

  • styyyyleee

  • Does anybody remember this song being in the movie KIDS when the young boys was sitting on the couch getting high during a house party. This shit was straight 1994. You'll never hear passion like this and a delivery in a good flow of music like this again. Rah Digga's the last of the Hip Hop Purists in the new millineum now.

  • @phesterjr Damn, I didn't catch that. Gotta re-watch it now after all those years. This guy should've been a star brighter than most of the losers on the scene since. The flow is inhuman.

  • @noiz87 Hell yeah, check that movie out. Everytime I watch that movie I get chills cause I remember the mind frame I was in as a teenager when I see that movie. I admit, first time that I heard E-Rule I thought that it was Jeru Da Damaja rapping. I was even more shocked when I found out that this kat was from Oakland. Cause his flow sounds East Coast.

  • @phesterjr to be honest, I went to west kindergarden, switched to electronics, and when i came back i just took a shovel. Didn't care noticing flow traits geography wise, as long as it flows in tune and i'm synchronized. This fella's got one helluva sync ratio, and his downfall is just one of the reasons i started hating at that nation :)

That made me dig through the rest of the world and so on. But yeah I did learn to appreciate the East coast somewhere... "during the war.." :)

  • sick lyrics. very creative unlike many rappers (hip hoppers) of today. later on.

  • Same sample as funkdoobiest's dedicated, anyone know whats the actual sample?

  • @ThePlanetCanada

Roy Ayers - Everybody loves the sunshine

  • @ThePlanetCanada Funk's "dedicated" is also one of the best bangers!

  • I was trying to remember who did this track. Thanks for posting.

  • Dude was nice wit his! he didn't get the props he deserved..Probably because he was from the west Coast and people was Hatin if you wasn't from NY!

  • @Tink342000 lol, he's from Chicago but moved to LA.

  • I just heard this gem on JT the Brick sports show the other night. I could not get it out of head, so I searched for it. GREAT FIND!

  • This song flows like water...it's perfect.

  • This was my ish !!! I wore this out when i came out. Definitely ahead of his time.

  • icantrecalleverseeingthisvideotilllastyear

  • its sampled from the beautiful Roy Ayers - everybody loves the sunshine

    Worthy Success!

  • I got the formula I'm onto ya the vibe be mad ill. Erule way ahead of his time, this is a classic.

  • His flow is incredible

  • Yo i been looking for this for years he is one of the illest ever

  • The last words of this song are prophetic...

"E-Rule the wise apprise 'em all,

Got a next level song and then I'm gone..."

    Big ups.

  • dj aktive cut the shit up in the DMC usa finals in 1994 and came in 3rd place

  • RIP Hip-Hop(1988-2010) God bless and rest her soul!

  • @TopNoTchVSOP Umm shes been dead since around 2006.

  • the best hip hop was from the late eighties and early nineties

  • sweet....i have this song on a mix tape...now i gotta look for it!!!

  • this is my shhhhhh thats TRUE Hip HOP

  • Good lookn out on this one! I had this on a mixed tape in 93, yeah mixed tape. It took me back. Real rap is hard to find

  • thanks man

it was hard to find this one

    heard it in "kids"

    the beat is dope man

i miss the hip hop of this golden era!!!

  • @rooneyscholesy83 yeah i saw kids and knew i had to find this-perfect roy ayers sample

  • this dude would smash on the duh-duh rappers...lil wayne and 50 cent

  • what ever happend to this cat? I still remeber recording this from the radio, damn I feel old.

He could've blown up! Oh thats right no he could'nt , he had SKILLs

  • this guy raps from the soul

  • this was my shit back in da gap

  • hoooo...hooooo.hooooooo.....hoooooo.hoooooooo

  • I love dis beat. I cant stop listenin 2 it

  • Sad good artists like Erule never blew up and yet we have all these corny rtists making these dumb ass songs and making millions of dollars off these so called hits they produce.... Songs by Erule need to be on the radio.. not the crap by Lil Wayne, Young Dro or whoever else..

  • damn real

  • I was born in 93, when my cousin first introduced me to Big L's music I've been hooked nasty on 90's rap. That's all I listen to, my friends say I'm like 30 years old because I don't listen to this y2k+ garbage ass music.

  • That's cuz u know what time it iz. It all starts with the youth. Your cousin put you on to good music from day one, that kind of influence can only rub off on you. Hell, maybe through you u can replace all da wackness out on the radio now if you ever decide to pick up a mic or start your own record company. From listening to this and other 90's Hip Hop artists you'll be able to identify real talent if start looking for artists. Who knows....

  • @ThaReapa i was born in 93 till and my friends say I'm dumb old cause of this shit. but fuck em

  • me 2 93 al day kidd, my friends think im "old school" simply because i listen to good music. its sadd really

  • @ reaper...true statement. Much respect.

I first heard this joint on video music box but didnt know the name of the rapper or even the song. The beat was in Kids too. I couldnt find it for YEARS until someone posted it one day on youtube. ...

much respect to the poster of this video for giving us a chance to feel nostalgic about the dopest era in hip hop thus far, and others a chance to appreciate it.

  • True statement. I heard dis song on sirius satelite last nite an was amazed by the melody of da tunes n his easy going yet lyrical contents. I've never even heard of dis kid til last nite n wish I the industry had more music like this 2 ryde 2.

  • @Jeffrizel1986 if you ever get a chance get the DMC dj battle 1994 USA local finals wherew dj aktive cuts this up at the begini ng of his set it is EXPLOSIVE he tore it apart but after this video rap city was never the same they fell off says uzipolo king of decatur

  • @Jeffrizel1986 When E came out, think about all the cats that were on top. Public Enemy, Biggie, Nas, 2pac, Wu-Tang, Scarface, Outkast, Bone Thugs. Just a plethora of rap talent in the mid 90s. Not to mention the competition from the within the Westcoast itself, in Cube, Snoop, Deathrow, Too Short, and the rest of them.

He was really overlooked as an alternative Westcoast rapper. Didnt even get the fame like Pharacyde, Black Sheep, or Souls of Mischief. I'd say he went the route like Camp Lo.

  • @guanaco04 Actually hun he did get quite a bit of fame, his songs played on the radio, his video played on televisions and also the interviews that he had, and he was was inseveral mags

  • Great friggin' track, E rule was absolutely slept on, another dope track of his is One Rule.....it was on a mixtape I used to have.

  • i had this song on a tape in 94 and my stepmom lost it. i never knew the title or the artist till today only because of the sample and how much i love the original sample Everybody Loves the sunshine roy ayers

  • I remember this song being on that movie KIDS during the party scene. But I heard it before then. I heard it bac in the summer of '94 on a show out here in V.A. called "The Hoodcheck" and Buddah Brothers was hosting it.

  • Damn dis shit go hard. Da unheard of people always got good shit

  • Thanks Man you see we still out there. The True Hip Hop Heads from the days still love this flava'

  • You get props for this...I thought me and my boy was the only ine up on this cat...I have this as a mp3...I remember his small part on Dead Presidents Movie...He was the Panter passing out flyers:)

  • @AGoodWomanDiji This was my shit. He used the words "aloof" and "magnanimous" in this jawn. He's cold! Thought he was from the UK back in the day...

  • Dope!

  • Yo, this bring back some good memories!!!!! I remember watching kids and this track came on and i was buggin out trying to find out who this was...lol.. wow!!

  • j'aime beaucoup i love this track

  • man, one of my top 5 joints. tha b side "synopsis" is in my top 5 also. that was tha shit!

  • Music always changes, unfortunately, its all about making trendy jams not classics and I think for the most part the ears have changed for most younger hip hop listeners. Some of them do not know what a true classic sounds like. In the 90's....a lot of classics where made. Same thang with jazz...

  • @curtisb3000 word life my dude....well put

  • Why The Game never metions Erule name as a West Coast savior.Mane, this dude is on some other shit! Real Hip-hop.

  • was just watching kids and forgot all about this shit

  • REAL HIP HOP DOESN'T PLAY ON THE RADIO.

  • @vadelma123 actuallly this did play on the radio hun

  • @vadelma123 try find on google beatbesement radio you noob

  • @vadelma123 here in dc we got a radio station that bumps classics like this.

  • @BadfishSkater

    We need that in NYC.....

  • Totally overlooked jam as one can tell by number of "views." when this came out I ran out and got the 12" vinyl cause I knew it was classic. Still got it too.

  • Can we look back at anything that is being made now and consider it a classic. MTV and commercial radio ruined hip hop.

  • nah, go year by year after 96 and the number of classics just gets fewer and fewer untill its at 0. but thats not to say classics are not made, just not for the radio

  • damn this proves hip hop is dead.... bring back original hip hop. fuck lil wayne, 50, drake and the rest of the closet homo rap artists including gay-z

  • sample used :roy ayers everybody loves the sunshine, so niiice

  • My favorite song of alltime yo the greatest shit word word word my boy remade this joint for me.

  • really?? it's gotta be scarce then! lol!

  • scarce?

  • brilliance
