My family rescued a young white hen in a broken crate that had fallen off a truck in Arkansas. The chicken lived several years and became a family pet living happily around our yard and roosting in a chicken coop. She was friendly and definitely a lucky chicken to escape.
Check out my friend's video of their song "Chicken Wants Her Beak Back", which, in addition to a literal anthem for factory farmed animals, is a larger metaphor for all the helpless masses that our culture exploits. Note the line "And this is how we LIE."
Search "chicken wants" here on YouTube to hear it. I think it does a good job of sneaking an important message in through catchy less aggressive-sounding music.

Could you imagine having to work in a factory farm? Ugh it sickens me. That is like hell on earth.
