Just to let you know that" the big cheese" are called "cheese curds". And If you use thicker gravy it will cover the cheese better and melt them.. And it will taste soooo much better :)
/WOW, ILooks so Fracking Good! How can you go wrong with Fries,Gravy, and Cheese? In California, we call that Chili Cheese Fries! Throw some Beans, Chicken or Beef,Guacamole,Sour Cream,Diced Onions and Jalepeno's? It's all good! Btw, What kind of cheese are you using for "Traditional" Poutine? Thanks sharing!

@27131king Well it depends.....most place put the poutine in the microwave to melt the cheese. But after a minute or so the cheese would get really soft just with the hot sauce like I did.
I slice up potatoes (peeled, or not doesn't matter) into fries (thickness depends on consumer) and mix them in a bowl with SUNFLOWER oil or COCONUT oil (olive oil when cooked at high temperture turned to transfat) cook them for 30-45 min at 400 F degrees in the oven. And then you prepare your sauces and cheeses and VOILA. Soooo much healthier then frying your fries or buying store bought.
I think the cheese in english is Cheddar curd cheese. I cant find that in nore the poutine sauce in australia so ill have to make it my own. J'ai eu le poutine à Montréal quand j'ai vécu là depuis 6 mois et maintenant en arrière en Australie en appréciant l'été :)
@Superiorpakfan Oh no, defenitly not cheddar, more like mozarella....or goat cheese. And as far as the sauce, try out some kind of thick chicken gravy...and you should have something close to our poutine ;) And you leanred all that French from 6 months in Montreal!?
I made it a couple of hours ago for lunch and i used bocchini cheese also with chicken and beef gravy mixed and well i dont like the chicken gravy so next time ill do it with just beef. My friend from QC may send me packets of powered poutine sauce. I am french background i was born in Australia and as i was raised i spoke french 1st language at home. My parents immigrated to Australia from france in 84. So ever since i grew up i got more fluent. :)
@Superiorpakfan Yeah I didn't think you got all that in 6 months ;) I guess there's not much French in Australia. You can also use beef, in fact it,s usually what ''brown sauce'' tastes like. I just like chicken gravy better. Glad that you tired it out! ;)
@jihadacadien We do have french people but not as much as we have of Greeks, Italian, Arabs, pakistan and asians. Just like canada! :) Alot of multicultural

@jihadacadien I used to sit around at my house in the winter and eat poutine and wonder if starting a business in Texas selling poutine would work, then i realized Americans love fat greasy stuff so I would most likely succeed. lol
@CottageLife100 No not yet, I am trying to get my cousins in Houston to set up a business but they are hesitant, but you know what? It doesn't even really matter cause they would twist everything and ruin the poutines good name anyway. At least you baked the fries. lol. Cheese fries are good no matter what you put on it or call it. I like mine with sharp cheddar and dill weed. Comfort food to be sure! I would put it in the oven to melt the cheese more, but you are right. My heart would not be happy. Of course if you used sweet potatoes and some low fat cheese it might be better for you...but what's the fun in that?

Comfort food to be sure! I would put it in the oven to melt the cheese more, but you are right. My heart would not be happy. Of course if you used sweet potatoes and some low fat cheese it might be better for you...but what's the fun in that?
