  • great job!

  • this is beautiful....

  • props- such a hard tempo and beat to stay with. Great job guys.

  • I knew this was so possible to do when I played some of the melody but I'm too lazy and not talented enough on drums--- You guys actually did it! Awesome!!

  • @reyjll Anything is possible, friend! Thank you, though, it means a lot :)

  • this is great! i really dig that kit.

  • Oie, drummer dude. U z da man!!!

  • you're skilled and you have soul keep it up boss

  • @stinkinfishguts Thanks! Soul is a good thing to have! I'll try and keep it close by :)

  • Nice job! This is one of my favorite songs. You really did this one well.

  • @dada1916 I'm glad you appreciate it. It's always nice to have people with such high opinions of the material you're covering give you their comment. When they like it, it's a great feeling. So thank you!

  • is so great to listen RDJ covers GREAT WORK!! I just hope you have another version of your cover that's not live... 2 thumbs up, but youtube will only aknowledge 1 ;)

  • @joetheseller I've had a number of people request a studio version now. I might just have to do it. Thanks for the thumbs, buddy. I'll keep the spare one ;)

  • Thumbs up for simply learning this song.

  • @snooters aw, man, thanks! This song wasn't so hard. My other drum'n'bass cover that I've uploaded was the hardest song i've ever learned. Check that out!

  • Hmmm I listened to the original version and I like this better, a lot smoother.

  • @M4hB Wow, really? Thankyou, that's a massive compliment! I still prefer the original, I think it is a beautiful work of art and is such a perfect example of how pretty drums can sound. I think our version is a little thin and could've been delivered a little better. But, i'm still happy with it. I guess that's being a perfectionist.

  • Wow...great arrangement and beautiful playing! This is one of my fav AphexTwin tracks - one which, until now, I'd thought was necessarily within the domain of programming/sequencing. Man, was I wrong! And that odd kit you put together for this sounds great.

Btw...you'll be my new hero if you can figure out how to perfom this delightfully schizophrenic mess: /watch?v=nAtjLLemWHM&feature=youtu.be&t=2m5s

  • @joshjosh321y Thankyou for all the kind words, I love this tune and was happy to do it even a little bit of justice. That Tortoise song is incredible. I would love to have a go at it, but I can just hear the pain that would be caused trying to figure it all out. That would be a hard one, for sure. Maybe I'll give it a go one day when such a daunting song doesn't scare me so much, haha!

  • AWESOME!!

  • @aendaltsev Thankyou!!

  • THIS IS LEGIT, DUDES

  • @TheRuffWoof 2 LEGIT 2 QUIT!! In all seriousness though, thankyou! I'm glad you like it!

  • Nice sparse arrangement and playing.

Love the sounds you got out of your kit and such.

    Thanks for the music!

  • @chaosmusician Thanks so much! Glad you appreciate the arrangement. Its not far from the original, but there were a few differences we decided to make here and there, mostly in the drum part. stay tuned for more music!

  • fun!

  • @JunJensen Sure was!

  • such a cute lil drumset. I want one!

  • wonderful wonderful job fellas.

  • @grfnklgrfnkl Thanks man! =]

  • Awesome job guys! Loved it!

  • @djsmore Thankyou! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • That was shit

  • @Peppepoppldoppl If that's how you feel. May I ask what about it wasn't up to scratch?

  • you guys are so sick man. keep it up

  • @jgozali16 Thanks, there'll be plenty more vids, so subscribe if you like!

  • Fucken oath! Justice is served, you guys are cleaning up the patological mess that was Dillinger escape plans lame attempt :) Thank you.

  • that drummer is pretty darn wild, i suggest the guitarist gets a loop pedal or something, add some layers to that track, seems dull on the melodic end; good cover though, really enjoyed it.

  • @LeBuav Thanks man! I know what you mean. We did experiment with loops. We felt it was actually detrimental to the simplicity of the tune at the time. Looking at it now, a few years on, I wish we had dome something to fatten it up a little.

  • Mad respect my drumming friend

  • @keepitrealinside Much appreciated my commenting compradre! =]

  • THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSESES :D K ALL OF THEM (itsoawsum) .. (sogood) i love it YES! LOVE . IT .. . o.o i'm watching it again, hell yeah..

  • drummer is nuts, kudos

  • @JimmyGr90 Thanks man, but I assure you, I'm perfectly sane ;)

  • this video makes me want to get mah self sum drums :/

  • @zimmeheuq Go for it! Drums are so much fun!

  • I've commented on this video before, and I am again! This is dope :)

  • @fourfingerfunk Haha! Glad you enjoyed it enough to share some more love. Thankyou!

  • wkd!!!!

  • @dandapro Thanks!

  • Yet another glaring example of more being done on drums with less.

  • @onlinemonikers Awesome :) thankyou!

  • instant tapping is realy on time... talking 13.37 .... and OH how i love looking at the clock at 13.37...

    realy nice one lads.

  • @squarepusher645 ...I am so confused by this. But I get the feeling you liked it. So, thankyou?

  • @EliGreenDrums inDEED. 8)

  • great stuff brother!

  • @x120daysofsodom Much appreciated!

  • Excellent! All it's missing is a bass.

  • @geogaddi669 Thanks! Yeah I agree. I may perhaps re do this with a bass line one day.

  • @EliGreenDrums Oh, and a viola. :)

  • @geogaddi669 My goodness, don't even say those words. I would kill to have had Viola on this, or my other video for that matter. I originally planned to do that with a live string section. But you try getting those guys to play drum and bass....

  • rad!

  • @RacismIsSchism Thanks!

  • drumming's ace.

  • great!

  • @uboro1 Glad you think so! :)

  • should add a bass

  • @JazzLover747 Agreed! If i wasn't restricted by the 'Duet' category in my exam, I would've. We'd jammed this with bass a few times and it really lifted the whole thing. If I get tempted to re-record this, bass will definitely feature.

  • @EliGreenDrums oh so this was a test?

  • @JazzLover747 Yeah, this was a recital at the end of my first year of Diploma study. My Venetian Snares video is taken from my end of second year recital.

  • @EliGreenDrums well I think you did an excellent job regardless, good sir! :D

  • @JazzLover747 Thankyou so much! Really glad you enjoyed it! =]

  • Love your drums man.

  • @415BAY415 Thankyou! It's a super fun little kit. Nothin' like kick/snare/hat/ride to get the creativity flowing!

  • This is good but doesn't have much feel to it, mainly the guitar. And the bad plus' interpretation of this isn't just "good", nor the drummer, it's/he is fucking amazing.

  • @Zombbg4 Agreed. They're extremely talented. Totally get what you mean. This version does sound a little stiff. To put it in context a little more, we only ran through this tune 2 or 3 times prior to the performance, and it really wasn't a tune that the guitarist had been focusing on as much as the rest of the tunes we played. No excuse, but it does explain a lot. I think if i were to do it again today, two years on, i'd do it quite differently.

  • This is fucking amazing, well done!

  • @Shorty421 Thankyou! =]

  • awesome.. i can only agree with the others before!

  • are you a fan of the Bad Plus? I know they have a song with a similar tune.. maybe they took it from somewhere too but good job! (coming from a fellow drummer)

  • @TheDrummerAK I do know the bad plus, they're awesome players. they do an awesome version of this tune with some very cool drumming. Good Jazz playing with some d'n'b influence, worth checking out for sure!

  • they are both covers of aphex twins flim he states that at the top bad plus covers it as well but i actually thought these two kids did a better job the drums were way better good job man

  • @bornofisis99 Oh man, thanks so much. I think it's hard to compare, really. The bad plus do a great job of combining the feel of the songs they cover with jazz playing. I love their version, i think it's totally unique. Their drummer is awesome, i'm quite certain he could teach me quite a lot. But thanks again!

  • Have you ever heard of Zach Hill? he also uses a small kit and sounds awesome

  • @FANKANable Yeah man, i've seen some Zach Hill, the dude's a pretty ferocious player. I'm not a massive fan, I find a little too much something, but i can appreciate his energy for sure and he definitely has a unique playing style. And besides, anyone who rocks a small kit that hard is rad in my books

  • this is fuckin awesome....

  • @DenialGuys Thanks man! I really appreciate it =]

  • the drummer is a total rainman badass

  • @snimsgern Hahaha! Wow man, thankyou so much.

  • This is so awesome man

  • @FANKANable Thanks so much man!

  • I envy that drummer, fuckin' nice.

  • @imalwayswatchingu00 Thanks! No need for envy, I hear that turns you green!

  • Wow, big props the the drummer!

  • @maskevito Thanks so much! =]

  • This guitarist is pretty lucky, he has that guy playing drums for him.

  • @MysticGizmos Haha! Oh man, thankyou. I'm totally showing him this comment. ;)

  • Completely surreal and serene, well done.

  • @Turtleproof Thankyou! =] I'm so glad you enjoyed it! do subscribe!

  • I'm all for the small drumkit now. What a sound this guy gets out of it.

  • @scimanuk

shame you cant hear the kick, all i hear is hats and a snare most of the time

  • @DrumMetronome Yeah, the kick is super quiet in the mix sadly. This guys camera wasn't on the money with the audio. The kick sounded huge out front by all accounts. I wish I came out that way on video. Oh well

  • Sick !

  • @redtidestudios Thanks man! Oh, and cheers for the Sub!

  • Dude, can you get me the tabs for this? This is phenomenal.

  • @JuggaloFaygoDrinker For drums, or guitar? I have an incomplete transcription of most of the the drum part laying around. As for the guitar part, there's a video on youtube of a guitar cover that my guitarist learned it from.

  • @EliGreenDrums

For the guitar. And in that case, I'll search for the video. Thanks.

  • Fair play. Sounds really accurate

  • @Decidan Thanks =] It's somewhat improvised, but mostly based on the original track.

  • amazing :)

  • @goavrilrules Thankyou! =]

  • muy bueno!

  • @fede138123 Gracias!

  • this is great. nice one

  • @trazeebarb Aw, thanks :) Glad you enjoyed it! Feel free to subscribe! There'll be more videos up soon!

  • this is great. nice one

  • sounds like your just making up the drums as you go : /

  • @rocklobster4731 Somewhat! There's an skeleton of a groove inherent in this tune, and once i had that down, i used the specific phrases that i heard in the original to create my own version based heavily on those phrases and concepts. SO, technically I am improvising, but this was a very rehearsed performance, and although there are slight differences, it is very close to the original recording with some of my own ideas.

  • @EliGreenDrums

makes it sound pretty easy then, was hoping to see the original drum tracks used

  • nice !!!!! you make awsome music

  • @MrStripesman Thanks so much =]

  • well done!

  • @treesdeep aw, thanks! :D

  • great job!

  • @dommimi Thankyou! =]

  • @EliGreenDrums do you live in London?

  • @dommimi No, I live in South Australia.

  • Good on ya!

  • @spacemodulated Cheers!

  • this awesome and i love the yellow version of that horse the band t shirt!

  • @casperHeyzeus Haha, I'm sure he'd be happy to hear that. Thanks!

  • Sweet, this was such a good idea! Some more texture to it and it would be so perfect.

  • @EliSennhiesser Cheers man! Yeah, i'd have loved to add more parts, instruments and players, but sadly, this was about as much as we could do. Maybe one day I'll revisit it and do it with an ensemble. That'd be cool!

  • this was great, you pulled off something most people wouldnt even consider. good job :)

  • @KaHabbful Thanks so much! =]

  • NAILED IT!

  • @MrRalf012 Cheers! =]

  • wow upside down says mom, like you motherfuckers are great, like tony the tiger

  • @ThePiercepick Haha! Glad you enjoyed it, man.

  • You are an incredible drummer.

  • @NHMorrissey Oh man, thankyou so much =] You've got not idea how much compliments like that mean!

  • @EliGreenDrums just out of curiosity would you ever be interested in making music for an animated student film?

  • @NHMorrissey Sounds great, I'd be more than interested in that. What are you after? Similar to this, or a soundscape, orrrr?

  • misssses the subbbbass sorely

  • @whalebonefields Haha, i know what you mean. like i've said, this was for the duet component of my college recital. Would've loveeeddd to have a bass player up there as well. Never mind

  • I am impressed. Good job guys.

  • @Paperhouse81 Aw, man. Thankyou! :)

  • @EliGreenDrums You are very welcome. Are you guys in an actual band? You both sound very talented and focused. Keep up the good job. Togetherness is the soul of a band. If you both can manage that, you can be HUGE!

  • @Paperhouse81 We do play in a band together, actually. Although, it's nothing like this. We're members of Raccoon City, a south australian based Post-rock/ambient/true-screamo act that's been doing quite well locally. It'd be great if you could check us out on facebook or youtube :)

  • very inspiring thanks!

  • @TakehikoMiike Inspiring? Wow, thankyou so much!

  • you have great stick control and a very relaxed and natural feel, bravo, enjoyed this acoustic rendition very much

  • @Avantyawn Thank you so much! Such kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Always good to have compliments come my way about technique :) Thanks again!

  • fuck yes. thats so killer

  • @lordpookus Thanks so much man!

  • Shit audience, great music!

  • @TheEVILutionist Haha, thanks! In fairness, there was only about 30 people there. It was a college recital. I don't think it was open to the public as such. Either way, thanks for the kind words :)

  • @TheEVILutionist in all fairness, you can't exactly jump around to this

  • @JousterinJudge I was referring to the wet handed applause.

  • @TheEVILutionist Ok. i agree with you there hahaha

  • Wow that was fucking awesome
