  • Genius little tip. Thanks. Loving the SA accent too!

  • that's how i learned when i was 15 still the best way

  • conklin rhino or timken industrial is the cats meow when it comes to grease.

  • heat up a amount of grease in a cooking pan up to a point its melting and you can dip the bearing into the pan

  • i dont know how i started watching bearing "pack" vids but there is al lot of incorrect videos on here! this is the way it should be done! i hope people see this one, good job

  • The reason people are complaining is that they like to whine and cry and try to make others feel stupid.

I know someone who won 150K. He complained because it was not enough to by a house with, Boo HOO.

  • Thank you my friend for the ever so simple way of 'packing a bearing'. I knew there had to be an easy inexpensive way and you showed it to me. Everyone has their preference for lubricants but that is not the purpose of you short and excellent video. Well done :)

  • Seems to be quite effective. LOL, i think most people use packers because they don't wanna deal with a greasy mess on their hands. xD

  • @DragonFlyback256 what if you used a putty knife and dipped the bearing the same way?

  • @brettknoss

Whatever works AND saves you money.

  • @imsimwim I really liked the method. I have know way to know how thick the grease you used was, so I really can't speculate to whether it was good or bad. Thank you for illustrating the method.

  • Hi,

  • WHy don't you use Molly Graphite grease , it seems to be better qiality and stays on the metal longer.

  • @aviomaster

I have driven this car now for 3 years and have regularly reached speeds in excess of 200km/h. There hasn't been a bearing failure or noise from the bearings yet. It's a Castrol grease, or in American terms Chevron, and on the container the specifications meet and exceeds the requirements for car wheel bearings. So I can't see why everyone is insisting that the grease I used is in any way inferior to anything else on the market.

  • Best bearing grease I've ever used is Krazy Grease. It's washout proof, works great on by boat trailer.

  • Imsimwim, I actually just finished one side of my 1977 Volvo hub a couple of hours ago. The grease in the picture looks like jello and thin. My preference is the $10 Mobil 1 cartridge. Just my opinion that bearings should last 30 years in normal service.

  • @slimepuke

I bought the suspension that's on the car now from a 2005 model second hand car in 2006 and fitted it as is. In 2007 I had to replace the brake disks and that requires the hubs and bearings to come of, since the disks bolt on to the back of the hub. I repacked them with this grease and since then I haven't had to touch them, and the bearings in there are the factory items. The grease is not thin, it is quite thick. Read my update in the video comments.

  • This is quite s concept, looks really good. Bad choice of grease though

  • @slimepuke, what's wrong with the grease? It's a high speed wheel bearing grease made by Castrol which is specialy formulated for the kind of conditions wheel bearings may experience. I've been running it in my race car, regularly hit 200km/h and haven't experienced one problem in almost 3 years. The bearing being packed in the video is it's front wheel bearing and that was the last time it's been touched(2008/01/31). So I can't see how by looking at a video you can tell it's a bad grease...

  • My 1999 Toyota 4s has a squeaking sound from the wheel/tires. If I get the wheel bearing greased-up will it stop the squeaks?

  • @bluesmanccd No. If the bearings are making noise, they need to be replaced. But your problem appears to be related to worn brake pads, not worn wheel bearings.

  • hey mate what kind of grease do i use for that kind of bearings ??? is lithium grease ok??? { i got black and white lithium any good??}

  • @BAKARDAN1 neither, theres special wheel bearing grease you must use. Preferably a high heat one to stand high temperatures.

  • @BAKARDAN1 wheel bearing grease

  • never though of that, very clever. is that moly grease? coz I doubt you can do that with lithium bearing grease.

  • you get water into the grease and you got spun bearings trust me ive been there done that but i caught mine b4 it ruint the spindle the bearing just briefly spun i use lucas red and tacky grease i will never let another person pack my bearings after that little incident about the spun bearing lucky the bearing didnt spin enough to ruin the race and spindle i caught it in just the nick of time becuz i heard it roaring and popping when you turn sharp and i stopped immediately and corrected it

  • hes absolutely right how i like to do mine is tap it into the grease like that untill i push all the old out then spin the bearing and tap it one more time then put a small coating on the outside needles then put her back together and oh yeah make dam sure you always always replace the grease seals on the front and back if u have sum on both sides or else your going to ruin the grease and spin the bearings a spun bearing means a ruint spindle a good thick coating of grease on the spindle and hub

  • I agreed doing that way and I always been doing that when repacking the bearings.

  • thats the best way to do it by hand

  • The best way..

  • I just stuck mine in the can of grease.

  • Good tip

  • "There's no bloody pool here, man. The house is built on stilts!" LWII.

  • that's a great way to do it, thanks!

  • Short but informative..
