we live in the centuary of 3D why 2D? i mean i know the 3D sonics were epic failure, but can't they work on it or something...? 2D feels as if they're going backwards and there's no way it's going to be better then the classic ones. 2D and 3D should be considered as two separate tools to solve different problems. Sonic team's biggest mistake (IMO) was jumping onto the 3D bandwagon. 3D was like the lense flare and ebossing effects of 90's graphic design - just because they were new and looked pretty, didn't mean that they solved the problem. Controlling Sonic in a 3D environment finished the love I had for the game, too many actions became automated (homing target? give me a break). 2D was the perfect tool for Sonic.

This game needs 16-bit style graphics, sega genesis style chip tune music, and level designs that allow me to have sonic almost running off the screen at times, then I will be in heaven.
I wonder if this is Sega's response to the New Super Mario Bros Wii game. I hope that is so. My reason being that the New Super Mario Bros games seem to be made up of the best features of classic Mario titles, and if Sega takes the same approach in making this game, then it could be better than any Sonic game ever made before it.
I really would like to see the half pipe bonus stages, blue sphere challenges, and that pinball slot machine from Sonic 3... ='D
This is cool. However, they don't need to make it completely 2D. They should continue the mixture of 2D and 3D concept that they used in the Daytime stages on Unleashed. Also, make it a little slower so that players can explore some parts of the levels and speed up on other parts.
For the sake of the classic Sonic games, I think they should keep this one completely 2D. The 2D/3D stuff would probably work best in Sonic Adventure styled games like Sonic Unleashed.
Sega have said that they plan 2 make Sonic faster in every new game he is in. The Speed in Unleashed was awesome in the daytime stages. So how fast will he run this game , How fast can Sonic Run!
Sonic needs to get back to the roots more than any other character in videogames. (and please get rid of about 70% of the current characters in the Sonic Universe... give back the trinity!)

Ok I don't care what anyone says! Sonic rules hands down, games and all, sure there were some downsides to the up to date games, but each had good sides to them, and as a real fan i loved all of them, only would have liked certain things done differently.
Sonic Unleashed was great, and is my favorite so far, the way i see it is, the day mode is a great sonic game, while the night is kind of like a god of war style of play, which is good, people need to just quit their whining!
I just hope that Sega doesn't screw this up and say that this is going to be the rebirth just like Sonic 06 (Sonic 06= EPIC FAILURE) they have a new original idea here, so I hope its good
Sonic just needs to find his ground in this new 3d world. He may be a little slow (since he has been experimenting for the past 10 years.) But I think they found the right formula with Sonic unleashed.
Of course, Sonic unleashed was far from perfect (it was quite terrible actually) but it showed potential for the next sonic game.
I have hopes for this game, but not too high quite yet. I'll wait til I see more information.
Sonic has been down for over a decade. I don't think there's anymore ups from here on out unless they just replace the entire sonic team with fresh faces. Sega have given up on Sonic, just look up some interviews. He's basically their cash cow (or hedgehog) now, they just meet some quota every few years and release some junk game, and everybody will continue to buy it simply because it has the word "Sonic" in it.
The original sonic was based on "ball" mechanics and physics. That's the original reason why they made him a hedgehog (as opposed to a rabbit, which they were supposed to make him). He rolls down hills, and he goes really fast. Sega has all but forgotten this concept...not only does he never roll anymore, he's not even that fast. He needs those stupid booster pads to even get through hoops.
Sonic team needs to replay the first four sonic games before they make another sonic game, 2d or not

sonic is all about platforming,high scores and along with special stages... the speed is just a gimmick to make the game more difficult or to play with the physics of the game... it should continue from where sonic 2 left off! oh yeah!

This game needs 16-bit style graphics, sega genesis style chip tune music, and level designs that allow me to have sonic almost running off the screen at times, then I will be in heaven.

I wonder if this is Sega's response to the New Super Mario Bros Wii game. I hope that is so. My reason being that the New Super Mario Bros games seem to be made up of the best features of classic Mario titles, and if Sega takes the same approach in making this game, then it could be better than any Sonic game ever made before it.
I really would like to see the half pipe bonus stages, blue sphere challenges, and that pinball slot machine from Sonic 3... ='D

This is cool. However, they don't need to make it completely 2D. They should continue the mixture of 2D and 3D concept that they used in the Daytime stages on Unleashed. Also, make it a little slower so that players can explore some parts of the levels and speed up on other parts.

For the sake of the classic Sonic games, I think they should keep this one completely 2D. The 2D/3D stuff would probably work best in Sonic Adventure styled games like Sonic Unleashed.

Ok I don't care what anyone says! Sonic rules hands down, games and all, sure there were some downsides to the up to date games, but each had good sides to them, and as a real fan i loved all of them, only would have liked certain things done differently.
Sonic Unleashed was great, and is my favorite so far, the way i see it is, the day mode is a great sonic game, while the night is kind of like a god of war style of play, which is good, people need to just quit their whining!

Sonic just needs to find his ground in this new 3d world. He may be a little slow (since he has been experimenting for the past 10 years.) But I think they found the right formula with Sonic unleashed.
Of course, Sonic unleashed was far from perfect (it was quite terrible actually) but it showed potential for the next sonic game.
I have hopes for this game, but not too high quite yet. I'll wait til I see more information.

Sonic has been down for over a decade. I don't think there's anymore ups from here on out unless they just replace the entire sonic team with fresh faces. Sega have given up on Sonic, just look up some interviews. He's basically their cash cow (or hedgehog) now, they just meet some quota every few years and release some junk game, and everybody will continue to buy it simply because it has the word "Sonic" in it.

The original sonic was based on "ball" mechanics and physics. That's the original reason why they made him a hedgehog (as opposed to a rabbit, which they were supposed to make him). He rolls down hills, and he goes really fast. Sega has all but forgotten this concept...not only does he never roll anymore, he's not even that fast. He needs those stupid booster pads to even get through hoops.
Sonic team needs to replay the first four sonic games before they make another sonic game, 2d or not
