This actually worked for me!! You turn off your pc, unplug your power supply and wait 2 minutes. Once the 2 minutes are up, you plug back your power supply and turn your pc back on, simple as that! Thank you SO much. I was really getting frustrated with my USB port not being recognized.

try using something else on usb port, try each port.if it works then the drivers are fine,no need for update and in that case the problem is with the device. my fuckin piece of shit logitech wireless mouse keeps going out, so i might have to buy a wire mouse bcuz of the problems with wireless. when its not 1 fuckin thing its another.dont freak out and start downloading shit bcuz of problems it might just be the device.if u google the results will be update driver but it might not be necessary.

If you tried everything that apple has recommended than the problem might be the part inside the phone which contains the dock. I was having trouble with my iPhone 3GS and took it to the apple store and that's what they told me. Sometimes when you connect the USB it can scratch or damage one of the prongs inside which allows you to charge but not sync. You can probably buy the piece off eBay.

A little update on my issue with this watch. I plugged it into a laptop running vista and the watch worked perfectly and I tried another laptop running XP and it also worked. But it doesnt work on my main XP machine (This one), and the watch freezes. Any way to reset the USB device in windows? maybe deleting the drivers that it uses and trying again or is that a no-no?

Worked for me, one problem though. It worked once I turned the computer back on and all, but every time after that the same problem came up again. So essentially I'd have to fuck with the power supply every time I want to access my phone through iTunes, which isn't what I'd call a fix.

I got a new cable and tested that and my USB ports and it seems to be a problem with the iPhone, not the computer or the cable. If anyone knows of a fix to that then please let me know, although I'm doubtful.

I need a better solution then having to restart my computer every single time I want to plug something in. I used to know one, all you had to do is delete a certain file which Windows uses to log the USB data, the file doesn't refresh sometimes and caused the USb devices to not be recognised. That's the actual problem, restarting or deleting this file is essentially the same thing because when you power off your computer the file is reset. Anyone know what file it was?

hey guys...this method didnt work for me. all i did was delete itunes on my compter then turned it off. then i went to the apple site downloaded the newest version of itunes and connected iphone and it worked. just run itunes let it load up and when itunes pops up insert your usb and should work. good luck guys!

It's not working for me also I'm on my Desktop. Could replacing a 300watt Power supply with a 500 watt power supply be causing the issue for me. Because I notice after I installed a new 500watt power supply some time after that my usb Musical Keyboard was no longer recognized by my computer.
