"Just Say Yes" has its origins as a song written for pop singer Gwen Stefani, who rejected it. Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls was then given permission by Lightbody to record it for her solo debut album, which was later shelved.

And when she decided not to release as a single snow patrol released their original version, Gary says that when his mum heard her version of the song he wrote she cried, her version is quite different, but you can see from the lyrics they defiantly belong to Gary. the honest melodic chorus is classic for snow patrol
