@Virginiasensomia It is usually done to keep themselves and the enviornment clean. When a cow soils their tail then start swing it around a serious mess can be made. Not to mention that people don't like being hit with them either. Usually cutting the switch short is enough to get the job done in most cases.
@jasonmushersee I never got a close look at them. It would be a job if they are, but they do their job and keep the barn cool. It was 85+ with high humidity that day.
Those look like some happy, content cows. I don't understand the tail docking thou.
