I wonder how many never even got played. Newspapers chewed by dogs...unsold newspapers...people who didn't have record players...people who could care less about a cardboard record in the newspaper, you name it! I had one at the time and I found one in a box of records years later (sadly former owner folded it up like a napkin)!
I had that record when i was a kid and really thought it was going to be a really big collectible item. Oh well its selling on ebay for about 3 dollars.
I totally remember this. I had that stupid record when I was a kid. I played the shit out of too. I would drive my parents nuts by playing it on 78 rpm instead of the standard 45 that it was supposed to be played on, thus making the song really fast and crazy.
HAHA!!! I totally remember this! I forgot to see if this was on youtube... for some reason it just came to me to look this up. Thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!! Yea, i knew this was from back in the 80's.
I had one of these records, too, but I threw it away a few years back. I was 9 when the contest took place and I actually wrote down the lyrics on a sheet of paper and memorized a lot of it. However, I can only get to "regular or larger sizes" from what I remember today. ALL of the losing records got to the very end, then the singers blew it. I actually thought I was going to win at the time! :o(
@razz8078 -- haha! I was about the same age you were when the contest came out. I also had one of the records... I think EVERYBODY thought they had the winning record when the singers kept singing.... but unfortunately they messed up at the end.
Lol, my local participating McDonald's no longer exists now!, it was converted into a Tescos a few years ago.
But it's pretty sneaky, I bet people must have gone fricking nuts listening to that song over and over desperately hoping for the one.
Was there any other prizes in the competition? As I'd guess people would give up after a while if there's only one prize and a 1 in 80,000,000 to win it. Winning the lottery is only one in 6,000,000 and there's lesser prizes on offer.
I really don't know if there was other prizes. As I already said, This thing predates me by a year and a half. I was born in 1990 and this thing came out in 1989. I did do some searching about this thing online. And I can't find nothing about it apart from what I already know.

Did anyone actually find the winning record? I wish whoever got it would at least let the rest of us hear it.

I'd have been 10 when it came out, but they never had to competition over here, to my knowledge anyway.
But then again I never had a mcdonalds until I started to like chicken in my teens.
Was it playing at the right speed too?

It just a fast moving song
