This is all bullshit. What a ridiculous one sided view of real estate sells. Why not do an interview of all the nightmare stories out there from not using a trained professional realestate. I think, CTV, CBC, etc. could save a lot of money if they would just get citizens to announce the news. If you are going to do something this stupid at least cover both sides. Cheap shock bullshit and I hope it blows in your face.
Yes, Leslie, make it sound like that big bad agent gets the full 6% fee. Don't mention that fee typically is cut between 4 professionals, don't mention the risks an agent takes not only with their own money in helping sellers sell their home but also their safety. Agents do a "little" more then print flyers and hold open houses. Leslie and others like her will also be looking for a job considering how corrupt the new media is and the half truths that come out of their mouths.
Anyone with any "internet savvy" can quickly find the necessary information and documents online. A majority of the agents out there went to classes for a couple of hours a week and have no formal training. The only difference between an agent and an "internet savvy" person is that the agent shelled out hundreds if not thousands of dollars to join the NAR, join a company and register with the state. Many agents are more concerned about recruiting agents to build the downline than selling!
Leslie, You often bring out interesting aspects from your reporting. Aspects on this story are just that: aspects. You asked the young "internet savvy" couple what they didn't get that a traditional agent would have given them. The "internet savvy" couple is so clueless they claimed they only missed the agent printing flyers and do open houses. End of their response. Uhhh.,.Leslie. No mention of statutory disclosure obligations, contract negotiations...oh well...those kids were lucky this time.
