Surely having a big fan that close to the floor kicks up a lot or particles in the first place? Would it be better higher up or would there be no difference?
This is so awesome....I'm about to go look into doing this, it's so simple I can't believe I never thought of it...funny. Anyway...it's smokey in Austin, and I have asthma. I know I can put together several units for the cost of a small HEPA filter by Honeywell. You ROCK!
Hey great idea!!!! I bought an air purifier that cost me $500 a couple of years ago. I have to replace filters and carbon cartons and some other thingy every year. I suffer from allergies and think what you showed on your video will help me and keep my costs down. I think I won't have to be dusting twice a day.

This works very well. I started this about a week ago. Thank you. In Florida I was having awful allergy from my cats. Not anymore. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. A great idea that really works.
The other way to do it is to put lots of wonderful plants in your home. SPider plants, ficus, lillies they have been proven by NASA to clean and filter air naturally. That would also be way more environmentally responsible. But I do appreciate your idea. Thank you Yardsnacker.
In the winter i get so sick in doors all the time, snow outside, the heating on in the house such dry heat boggs me down. My lungs will love you for this, Thank you very much great video. Take care Margaret x
@yardsnacker Just wanted to chime in and say thank you so much for this great idea! I have bad allergies and asthma to boot, one thing I'm rather allergic to is cats. Really sucks since I love my two cats. It may be overkill but with 3 of these running in my apartment I have no problems at all and bonus got to keep the cats!
This is such a great video!! Thank you so much. Have you done any kind of comparisons on energy consumption? I'm totally going to try this. My dogs are shedding like mad.
Thanks Alexis! I think the cost savings is mostly in the unit and the filters as opposed to electricity. The motor sizes are comparable I think so it's pretty much a wash that way. Take care.
Wow great video!

Like the video! Does it matter where you place the fan/filter in the room? I see you have yours close to the wall.

Good video, where did you buy the 3 pack filters? That's cheap!

essentially thats what alot of these expensive air purifiers are, just a fan with a filter behind it.

How is the air flow through the fan? Is it reasonable? Or does barely any air flow through at all?

thanks for this info. I was heading out to spend 100+ on some crappy unit but I think this will be as good or better at a much lower cost!

This would be even better if done with a vintage box fan.
