Even tho Shep was an established producer already, it was the Pet Shop Boys West End Girls Remix he did that really threw him in 2the remix spotlight with everyone else.
@SuchAPrettyMess You can't be serious not even close to the'' LATIN RASCAL'S" I understand people have preference, but this isn't close, where did u grow up, i grew up in Manhattan, you had to grow up somewhere in the tri-state if you know ''SHEP'' and they played 92ktu( LATIN RASCAL'S) in the eartly 80's they had a remix show check em' out then if you still think ''Shep'' is better than o.k.
@littleitalykid I'm not very familiar with the Latin Rascals work, are they more freestyle? I started collecting/purchasing vinyl at literally 8 years old when my parents would drop me off at the record stores here in Seattle... I just turned 32. I like Shep Pettibone's percussion in his remixes, specifically his 85-90 era work...
@SuchAPrettyMess Here'z the quintessential Latin Rascals 4 U. U hav2 know where 2 look 2 get the good mixez. A good portion of the radio mixez were done on vinyl, but under other namez. Like this 1: youtube.com/watch?v=z_OtwMyQ2y4&fmt=18 - or this 1, a nostalgic breakbeat fav : youtube.com/watch?v=YZ4aBfZouzc&fmt=18
But 2 all time NY/NJ/Philly favz R theez 2! 8:23 of part 4 youtube.com/watch?v=e1-NWvcHmc0&fmt=18

@littleitalykid For me I'm into Pettibone, Jellybean Benitez, Stock/Aitken/Waterman, Italo Disco like Koto and Radiorama, Italo House, and some very early 90s early house like 808 State... also, my favorite Italo House being all of the 49ers songs, and much much more obscure groups that no one has heard of, especially in the US! I typed in Latin Rascals, and am digging their stuff too, so far I like their radio station mixes, that's totally my cup of tea!
love Shep's mixes i have a large collection of them - he often crossed various riffs to other artist's mixes so they sounded similar - this one has the same sequencer effect that was taken from Duran Duran's 'I Don't Want Your Love'(at about 0:18) which he mixed before this - the DD mix had the same bass line as Shep's remix of Prince's 'Hot Thing'
The thing that i miss in this remix is the melodic part where Debbie sings 'Lost inside..' before the 'oo ooh woah oh' on the original track
@izzyworld There are sooo many remixes by Shep Pettibone that it's difficult to name a favorite one, but for example New Order's 'True Faith' mix by Pettibone is UNBELIEVABLE, I mean that can nearly make a grown woman like myself cry it's such a fantastic mix... positively legendary!!!!
excuse me, but.... i think it`s too "bouncy" now and not that "funky" anymore.... technically very well done, no question, but i really prefer the original.
@huffnpuff2 that would be because madonna used shep pettibone to remix some of the songs she sang on. i might also add, as usual, madonna caught on to the hip producers after they did their best work.
I wish this had chorus part.

I have this Lp. It's called Debbie Harry/ Blondie "Once More Into The Bleach" (1988)

@Martywt43 This is NOT the version as recorded on that album. It's actually better.
PlatinumMic 1 year ago
Intro too long, I don't wait 2 minutes for some song to get "good" because usually if it doesn't do much in the first 15-20 seconds it's a POS.
In this case sure enough the entire remix is slightly too drawn out, it's like I'm always left waiting (and waiting) and waiting for the good parts.
Otherwise not bad.

if you dont like buildup, dont listen to house remixes

@WiiGeee When I rushed out and bought the remix album, I LOVED the "buildup". My disappointments were that:
a) It never went anywhere;
b) They took the actual music out of it.
c) This sounds like a remix OF the remix.

yeah totally shep reminds me along the lines of madonnas vogue

@huffnpuff2 I think it's because Pettibone was Madonna's producer and remixer (i.e. 'Like a Prayer' or 'Vogue').
