i watched this series a lot when it was coming over the telecast. for several years back then, i assumed that "mary kate ashley olsen" was the name of just 1 actress. it took me awhile to find out that it was a set of identical twins. i hope i'm not the only 1 who made that mistake. i hope someone writes to me and says that s/he made the same mistake i did. please, someone, tell me i'm not alone here.

@coventrygardens hey i thought that for the longest time cause season 8 opening creds were the 1st time they had it as "mary kate and ashley olsen" that was stupid all those years i thought mary kate was the first name and ashley was her middle name! i grew up w/the series i was same age as stephanie, so i was a little kid back then but def thought that for yeaaarrs!! haha and btw the place i live is called coventry gardens too :)

@rockonmama6425 i guess the producers intended for people to think that it was just 1 actress, but the secret eventually became widespread, and thus the producers likely decided to end the deception. i chose my youtube handle based on "coventry gardens", which is the name of the neighborhood where i lived when i was a kid in the 1970s. it's near detroit, in the u.s.a., near the border with the british territory of ontario ( the 1 that has toronto in it ). i like the sound of the name.

I suppose you're right that maybe the producers didnt want to make it obvious they had 2 kids playing the same role....who knows! but like you said, now i also know at least i am not the only one who thought they were one person!

@rockonmama6425 i was really hoping that your coventry gardens would be the same as mine. anyway, in my coventry gardens, all or almost all the streets are named after places in england. a lot of my friends lived on whitby street and norwich street. i lived on surrey street, next to the funeral house. some people have seen my youtube name, and they thought it referred to coventry, the town in england./// haven't you met other people thinking the 2 actresses were just 1.??

This is the episode where Joey was the substitute teacher. This was a good one. I thought that was a good idea to film a new opening in the last season. Just shows how contributing the cast and crew were when wrapping up. In 0:26 both twins appear in the shot. I heard the drawing of Michelle is actually the other Olsen twin. That's clever.

Sure they taped the show in L.A., but as someone who lived in NorCal during the latter portion of Full House's run, I'm kinda happy they kept coming back to S.F. to tape the opening credits.

In the first season, the Olsens were credited in the closing with "and" between their names. From seasons two through seven, they appeared in the opening as "Mary Kate Ashley Olsen", followed by the special billing for season 8 that we see here. Mary-Kate and Ashley had already turned 8 by the start of the final season in 1994.

They shot the tail end of the theme where the cast was sitting in the park in season 3, and re-shot it in season 4 to get Lori Laughlin as Rebecca Donaldson into the sequence. It remained throughout the balance of the run of the show, that's why the Olsen twin (Probably Mary-Kate, she was used the majority of the time over Ashley) looks to be about 3 or 4
