they are probably the best my father is singing in a harmonica band but svang plays this romanian song better then my father and my father is romanian (shame)
@MrAlias2009 thank you i figured the chrom was a hohner.
can you play a chromatic harmonica? Because i need some tips, i can play a diatonic but the chromatic kicks my teeth in its like a completly new instrument.
@TBeanIV no i can't play but my father can if u wanna see u can search for ioan constanti or trio polifonic (this is the band that my father use to play) but i can take u to some guys that could learn u tips about chromatic
awsome...simply awsome..geampara is a music style from my country (Romania),from a part of the country called "Dobrogea".it's very special mainly because it's 7/8 beat and it's many twisted thrills and it's not quite spread within other countries.it's very nice to hear that others like and study this kind of music.not to mention the impressive interpretation. great job!
Have all these people that commented never heard of Jerry Murrad and they could do the chords on an accorda not a harmonetta and just three of them make a better sound than you Johnny maxim
Heh. All of us have been playing since our teens. Three members of the band are graduates(or post graduates) from Sibelius Academy , a music university in Helsinki.
By the way, Sväng just release a new album "Jarruta" this week. Coming to internet shop near you as we speak. Check it out!
Dobrogea's(ROMANIA)population is especially diverse, and there exist elements of traditional Tatar, Ukrainian, Turkish,Russisch and Bulgarian music among those populations. The most popular dance from Dobrogea is the geamparale(JAMPPARALEELE) which is very different from the other traditional dances of Romania. In fact, Dobrujan music is characterized by Balkan and Turkish rhythms.
Seriously though,I have heard of the concept of the harmonica quartet, but this is the first time I have seen one,and what a phenomenon they are!!....Difficult to believe that such a beautiful and full sound can be achieved using 4 harmonicas!...Well done guys.
second song is better. I want a bass harmonica. I play both diatonic and chromatic, honer rules. to bad they don't have a guy with one of those 4 hole cute tiny ones just for kicks. Where can I audition?
Better yet: you should seek out for players and set up a band in your area and start playing our music. Sväng will release our next album in January 2008. It will contain new and unique pieces composed to harmonica ensemble which can play with over bending (fully chromatic on diatonic harp).
Sounds a bit like gypsy, or Balkan music... Ovidiu Lipan style... but more jazzy. Great work!

the rhythm sounds very Slavic, pretty much the base rhythm of Yugoslavian music, only usually played on an accordian, sounds like home to me :)

Just SKIP to 4.25 min if you can't follow the rhythm at the start. Its a piece everyone can appreciate.
sirnyk 4 years ago
The rhythm isn't that hard to follow--just follow the band's tapping feet. Besides, it's a beautiful piece of music.
