I hate when I sing this song and people think I got it from True Blood. This is an old melody and it has nothing to do with trailer trash sleeping with vampires.
Just one request. Nathan, please play the whole, beautiful song with your awesome cello like in the series and kick this Lisbeth Scott down in the valley with her strange drummer. I wouldn`t say she`s a bad singer, she`s not so bad, but her singstyle is just so awful, I first dind`t want to trust my ears. Anyway, the song (the melody) is beautiful and true blood is just a great series.
THIS SONG WAS PLAYED WITH A PRAYER AT MY GRANDMA'S BEDSIDE..SHE DIED THAT NIGHT.. BUT THE SONG WAS FROM THE SCENE OF TRUE BLOOD WHEN SOOKIE ATE HER GRANS PIE..
i might like this version better if heard it first before seeing true blood. i still really like this version, but i think i'm partial to the actual one in true blood. the other one is, i dont know, sweeter i guess? more tender
I totally agree with you. Although this is a good version, I absolutely love the True Blood arrangement. It brings me to tears everytime. Perhaps because that version is stripped down and feels more raw & real. Even my mother-in-law has now requested i make sure it is played at her funeral. It is truly beautiful.
@sandningga I know I spelled it wrong but people don't seem to mind. They still highly ranked my comment. I still got the point acros, regardless, so chill out. :)
I had lost my mother just before True Blood aired... this beautiful song truly captures the feeling of loss, and hope, and acceptance of what is, and what will be.
Even better is that it evokes the music of 19th Century Civil War era - absolutely perfect for the soldier who never made it home and his love for his mortal woman.
It is rivaled ONLY by The Scarlet Tide cowritten by Elvis Costello and TBone Burnett ("The Delivery Man"), sung by Allison Krauss for film, "Cold Mountain." .
