  • Believe me I've listened to a lot of music, but it just hasnt grown on me as much as yellowcard has. thats why they are my favorite band. maybe you dont think they are the best band, but thats your opinion, and everyone's opinion is different. theres tons of people that hate nirvana and king crimson or whatever and they arent wrong they just look at music differently. my comment was my opinion and i was seeing if anyone agreed with me. clearly you dont but that doesnt mean that my post is wrong

  • @BEASTBassist I do respect if you like it. The point is that music has two definitions, the technical one and the artistic one. The technical one is objective, but the artistic one is parcially subjetive. Let's say it's like 50%-50%. Yellowcard's compositions obviously aren't very "tricky" compared with other bands, so considering there are more technical bands which also include a genuine artistical side... it's hard to tell if this band is that good.

  • I honestly don't think that they could of written a better song to close this album out. It's perfect.

  • Replaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay :)

  • "Free to stand beside the ocean in moonlight

And light myself a smoke beneath the dark Atlantic sky"

    That line always gets me.

  • nice^^

  • this band makes my dick grow up .i.

  • Okay. so who copied who? cause both Yellowcard & Nevershoutnever both used "cali-forni-a." LMAO. what do you guys think? (x

  • Prob my fav. YC song!

  • GOD I LOVE THIS SONG. <3________<3

  • California has the best songs..

  • My brother wholly despises this band. Someone shoot him.

  • Forgot how good this song was, and having listened to it again, I'm not sure how it was possible for me to forget how incredible it is.

  • 0:00-0:20

    Spine Chilling

  • It's not possible to say this without sounding cheesy, but I find so much meaning in this song allegorically to my own life.

  • its rare 4 me 2 find an album in which i like EVERY SINGLE SONG. But,i just got done listening 2 the entire ocean avenue album, and itz amazing. Thumbs up if u hope Yellowcard wont go away any time soon :)

  • 4 peoples didn't come back home :D

  • On tour with Go Radio....AMAZING best show ever =D

  • i got chills just typing in the title in the search bar

i wanna go back to highschool

  • I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • really brings a tear to me cause i moved from my small town in the midwest to a big city in florida not knowing anyone andhaving to change high schools..

  • i love how yellowcard has a violin int he band.

  • i found me aloneeee

  • Is there any song that I can complain about? D:...they're all so amazing!!!

  • I have commented on all the ocean avenue songs and I can't stop saying how amazing they are. Reminds me of my teenage years. I will never tire of this album. I'll probably still listen to it when I'm 90. Fuckin' bangin' my head and swinging my cane around!

  • such a gud song!!!

  • Reasons why Yellowcard is the best band ever:

    1. Originality-they are punk-alternitive band that has a violin and amazing melodies

    2. Meaning-Their songs have tons meaning, feeling, and things that make hear a son g and bring back memories that nothing else can.

4.Awesomeness- Their drummer is the best drummer in the entire world.

5.Variety-Their music started as hardcore punk, went into alternitive, modern rock, jazz, pop-punk, and even drifting into metal at times.

    6. They're just amazing

  • @BEASTBassist their drummer is kinda awesome :D plus the music and lyrics just seems to fall in perfectly

  • @BEASTBassist all wrong, they are good, but its hard to compite against other bands, others that have change music like Nirvana in the 90, or the beatles in the 60, thoose are examples of the greatest bands

  • @MyCm1995 I guess thats your opinion, but i think that bands like that, (especially the beatles) are extremely overrated and may have changed music a little but that doesnt make them the greatest bands. Also, this might just be for me, but i grew up listening to yellowcard so i have a lot memories and meaning associated with there music. Plus, its hard to find meaning in songs when the people that wrote them were high while writing them.

  • @BEASTBassist True, its our own way to see things, this music could mean something big for you, every one has different forms to appreciate music. I think this song is great even though I dont thing Yellowcard are the greatest ones.

    Good for them

  • @BEASTBassist Actually, they aren't even good.

  • @AxaDoble Actually you are a fail troll.

  • @AQWdeathGian "¿Troll?" Sorry, but I'm not into that preteen 4channer-wannabe bullshit.

  • @AxaDoble one, thats the biggest load of shit i've ever heard, two, then why the hell are you watching this video?

  • @BEASTBassist If this is the biggest load of shit you've ever... heard?, you don't read much. I'm here because someone posted this on a forum I usually visit. He said it was one of the few good modern bands that were born in the 90's... then my ears started to bleed. I'm ok with people listening to this, I can't change that (neither I want), but at least they should admit it's a generic teenager-oriented band; nothing to do with real music. Best band ever lol, I just had to reply.

  • @BEASTBassist By the way, don't take it personally. I'm sure you know there's a huge difference between taste and criterion. I do like some bands/books/films/videogames/pictures that are shit. I mean, there's a theory behind all these things, it's not all based on a subjective matter. P.s: I know my english isn't very good; I'm working on it.

  • @AxaDoble The point is that this band isn't in that pop-punk teen genre because they've gone into many other genres and have a unique sound on every album. I feel like many people base how good a band is on how long they've been around, what genre people have grouped them into and how well-known they are. For me, thats the wrong way to do things. If you think that this band is a generic teen band, then listen to the lights and sounds album by them and maybe you'll change your views.

  • @BEASTBassist Yeah, but you talk about originality because they include a violin... Dude, did you ever heard about King Crimson? They were pioneers of progressive rock in the late 60's. They used odd-time signatures, jazz improvisations, electronic effects, chamber instruments, etc... all together on a rock enviroment. It was one of the most influential bands ever. There are tons of musicians/bands who like to experiment, it isn't new. By the way, I'll give it a try.

  • @AxaDoble I dont care if what they're doing isnt knew it sounds good to me and thats all that should matter. Chamber intruments electronic effects and jazz improv arent new either and if thats influential it still doesnt matter because who the hell wants to listen to that? I'm not into chamber music or a ton of electronic effects and to me it would be harder to find meaning in it. Yellowcard incorporates jazz into their music also. A band doesnt have to be revolutionary to be good.

  • @BEASTBassist I think you got me wrong... I said they mixed these elements with rock, I didn't mean to say they created them. Who wants to listen to that? Anyone who likes good music. Even that shitty pseudorapper called Kanye West sampled "21 Century Schizoid Man" by King Crimson, on a song called "Power". Maybe you think KC it's all about bizarre and chaotic improvisations, then again, these are only elements to create richer textures, because KC is quite melodic and technical.

  • @BEASTBassist And I think that, if a band is influential, it's something to bear in mind, because without them, some bands wouldn't exist or wouldn't be the same. Moreover, what moved me to reply was the line: "best band ever". Probably it was just a manner of speaking, so i'll take it like that.

  • @AxaDoble One, electronics and chamber intruments isnt 'good music' necessarily. Two, i dont care if Yellowcard doesnt live up to your expectations-i think they're good, maybe the best band i've listened too, and so do 36 other people. Also, bands that are influential might have a good sound, but after a few years, bands that are influenced by older bands can make a better, perfected sound, thats better to listen to. Thats why i like bands like these.

  • @BEASTBassist Who the hell said that? Seriously, I don't know if my english is so bad that you're unable to understand me or what's happening. Once again, these are ELEMENTS. What makes King Crimson good music is their innovation, their virtuosism and complex compositions (wich is objective), their lyrics (one word: Epitaph), their variety (they change their sound almost every album), and the fact they influenced tons of other innovative bands (such as Pink Floyd or even Nirvana).

  • @BEASTBassist But hey, if you think this is the best YOU'VE ever heard, it's ok, but they aren't remotely near to the best band ever. People should make a difference between personal taste and facts. P.s: I think Nirvana is kinda overrated, but Kurt Cobain said he was influenced by King Crimson's works.

  • @BEASTBassist Oh, and just because you don't like something at first, it doesn't mean it's bad. There's music that grows on you when you pay attention to it (I used to listen to nu-metal, teenager-ish alt. rock and stuff like that, too). Music isn't all about catchy melodies, or about following the rythm with the head. It took me some time and dedication to discover this, but I thank "God" I did.

  • @TheMacMillanPage

    agreed

  • The night that I bought this CD in '03 half way through this song I teared up some. This is a beautiful conclusion to a tremendous album!

  • Cant believe its been so long since this song first came out, few tracks can make me feel so insecure, so calm, and yet so inept within the realm of my life, the true beauty of this song is its link to the memory of the feelings in my life when I first bonded with the words. "I always thought I wanted so much more."

  • 3 people need to go back home

  • The perfect 'coming-home-after-holidays-when-you-didn't-wanna-go-home' song

  • i was 8 when this came out.best cd ever

  • @TheMacMillanPage The new one will be better.

  • "everybody here is livin life in fear of fallin outa line

tearin lives apart and breakin lotsa hearts just to pas the time

and the eyse turn red in the back of your head this place will make you blind

put it all beihind me and ill be just fine"

is my favorite song quote and i think it also relates to high school

  • I Just RAPED The Replay Button!!

  • @SheehanTitans15

  • I live in California and when i heard this and thought about the lyrics I was sad because it's all true.

  • oh gosh, this brings back so many memories

  • good song, but west coasters are SO soft lol. again love the west coast not taking anything away from u guys but lets hear it for the muthafuckin EAST

  • @john2k24 I resent that, have you ever even got to know enough west coasters to justify? :P

  • @XxCommanderRhinoxX ya i know a bunch a couple of my good friends go to school out there and ive gotten to know their friends quite well... i dont mean soft as in like they are all pussies lol i just mean as far as acclimation to severe and extreme cold/weather conditions lol. I guarantee unless your workin in a ski area in california what it is like to work outside in a driving blizzard with winds at 50mph at 0 degrees... just sayin lol

  • @john2k24

    gross...cold, wet stuff

i get what your saying, i myself am more of sunny weather girl, but ive got freinds who absolutely live for the snow, there in the moutains every chance they can get (one guy even drives for 3 hours almost every day in the summer so he can snowboard, in the winter its only like 1 hour)

personally, i think theyre all on crack, but i think they might have relitives in Greenland or something... it would explain soo much...

  • okay seriously whos the one dick wade

  • the ocean avenue album is pretty much the greatest cd ever

  • @bdsouza89 that and lights and sounds

  • @dragonstarnat Dude. Every Yellowcard cd is the greatest cd ever. At the same time. They can do that, cuz Y.C. is just awesome like that. :)

  • welcome to cali.... i bet this song really does describe it to you east coasters. Cant hang without your jersey shore

  • @TheMotorSouldier sigh... thats East Coast ignorance for you... jk... sort of :)

  • this song is dead on for me, from jerz, and stationed in california

  • what's the meaning of this song by the way? somehow after listen to this song, i feel mellow..

  • @johancakep pretty much exactly what hes singing

  • "And sometimes I need someone to say, "You'll be all right. What's on your mind?""

    <3

  • W YELLOWCARD <3

  • @TheMacMillanPage i kinda prefer lights and sounds

  • i bet justin bieber was the one who disliked this

  • @antonfatso yeah only because hes jealous and wants a voice like ryans and meaningful lyrics like these

  • i love every single yellowcard song...there isnt one song that i dislike...mainly because they are so well written and lp's drumming is insane along with everyone else doing their part...i mean look at 'waiting game' i know its not on ocean avenue but thats a badass song to me anyways...so glad they are back...cant wait to hear the new stuff

  • =) love them oh so very much!

  • i was gonna get this album but there was only one left and the other person took it T_T

  • @JericoBadoy lol, i bought the last album at the f.y.e where i live a couple a weeks ago....there was only one left....weird...

  • great song

  • you know whats awesome about yellowcard?(well yeah almost everything cant be evrything nothing is perfect)its the fact that they are so awesome that they DONT HAVE any HATERS i have never seen a single hate comment about yellowcard anywhere!!! the only reason people dislike them is maybe because they seriously dont know who they are, theyre not in tv,or mainly because theyre pc is too damn laggy that the cursor lagged into dislike instead of like, hey are THE BEST underrated band ever!!!

  • yellowcard is back ! back home !

On August 1, 2010, Yellocard announced that the band has been reformed and they are working on a new Album to be released in early 2011.

The new band line up consists of

    Ryan Key (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar)

    Sean Mackin (violin/vocals)

    Ryan Mendez (Lead Guitar/vocals)

    Longineu W. Parsons III (Drums/percussion)

    Sean O'Donnell (Bass)

The new bassist Sean O'Donnell is from the band Reeve Oliver.

  • This is one of the few albums that is great from top to bottom. All songs are awesome! The ultimate summer CD!

  • Though Yellowcard wasn't a one-trick-pony, Ocean Avenue was their best album in my eyes. And the fact that they managed to last for a total of 10 years and 6 albums with so many substitutions just makes Yellowcard a one of a kind.

  • @cofley Yes they are a really great band, i love ocean avenue! i was like 19 when i came out so its great at that age to listen to this stuff

  • This song really fits with me.. I moved from Korea to California and it really reminds me when i was leaving everything i loved behind like my family and my girl... I love the line

"But the water's shallow here and i am full of fear and empty handed after two long years"

It has been exactly two years since i moved away from Korea,, I miss home

  • @byungkhang I can relate, I moved from Israel to CA too exactly 2 years ago. left my family, my girl, left everything behind.

    Cheers.

  • I used to think they were amazing in 05 and 06 now im hard into Nirvana but im kinda scared its like all ive listened to since 08 and im running out of material from them. im down to In Utero.

  • This song has such a deep meaning to it. It can relate to alot of people. Ocean Avenue will always be classic

  • yellew card is amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice

  • I don't know what it is about this album. But I've listened to it more than any other album I've ever owned. Yellowcard = amazing

  • @inspiredbymusic14

i feel exactly the same way

  • man i moved from chicago to san diego alone i know noone and i miss my friends so i totaly can relate to this song

  • @TheMacMillanPage my favorite album ever.

  • stoDooo.! its really good

  • @TheMacMillanPage

    "In your eyes"? =D

Don't you mean In your ears? =DD

  • this is clearly not a life song. so it pisses me off how everybody makes it that way. it's about him(the lead singer) thinking that he wanted something more than his hometown & going to california to make something of himself and ended up wanting to be home instead.

  • @AmericanIdolFan17 : My friend everything is a metaphor for life. Messages come through everything we do, this is the nature of things.

  • @AmericanIdolFan17 couldnt agree with you more

  • @AmericanIdolFan17

the beauty of music is it's open for self -interpretation

  • @AmericanIdolFan17 check it out pal, if you made a door and i was stranded on an island with just your door, i would gladly use it as a boat to get off the island.

  • ah great song

  • I always wondered when he says "and empty handed after two long years" what does he mean? Two years of college??

  • @jbeckforever I've been in love with the same girl for two years... we have a wonderful friendship but it'll never be anything more then that... I'm pretty sure thats more what he's talking about but thats just my interpretation of this song

  • Ah thank you for the insight. Gives the song whole new meaning! Yeah it makes sense now, thanks man!

  • WOW! Great song!

  • their lyrics always have so much meaning..i love it

    I SMILE AT THIS SONG!-

    BEAUTIFUL

  • yeah, I think it's sad too, makes me think of those long days at Hunington beach, sitting just watching the sunlit water, missing someone.

  • "there's nothing real for them to see here..."

    awesome.

  • dam I love this song

the most popular point of this song is that it's relatable

one of my 2 favorites, the other is shadows and regrets

  • yeah, shadows and regrets says: "i'm back in town"... rough landing holly is a great song too.

  • this is a great song thank for uploading it!!

  • the beggining is perfect

  • I can relate to this song a bit. I moved to Aus from Washington State. From rain to no rain.

"Another sunny day beneath this cloudless sky

Sometimes I wish that it would rain here

And wash away the west coast dreaming from my eyes

There's nothing real for them to see here"

  • this is the best song i have ever heard in my life. i love it so much
