As someone who has seen all of these versions I have to say this video is awesome, both with the old song and the replacement. Bravo. I myself love comparing the different protrayals of the characters, and this video is what inspired me to give it a try myself. :)
Though I admit I prefer the 1995 version above the others. It's the only version that gets Elizabeth's hair color right. :P
There are actually two more versions. A really rare 1967 version, and a really bad 2003 version.
wait so there is the 2005 version with kieria nightly and then the BC one with Colin Firth. then the Indian one, Bride and Prejudice. But what are the other 2?
There is another Darcy version that is missing from this video. It's from Pride and Prejudice a latter day comedy. Although that movie was alright, I wouldn't say it was great although it had it's quirky moments. But that Darcy was pretty nice. :)
When I heard the music I was going to turn this off but then I listened to the lyrics. You got it and the various versions of P and P are cute. Of all I've seen in my hundred years, the 1940's one and Bride and P are equally my favorites. Thank you for working on this and sharing it with us. Good work. :)
This was cute :) Finally someone had included the Bollywood version, which is adorable, and i loved the fact you used all these different versions, Im gonna watch the Laurence Oliver one real soon...it looks nice :) ANd lovely video it was, great job!
Favorite Mr.Darcy's are: 1.Matthew && Colin tied for first :) both are sooo dreeeaammy *--* 2.Bride && Prejudice <3ed that version imensly! and the rest I will have to watch!
Can someone please explain why some songs get blocked by certain users while the same song is all over YT? I just don't see why it's not ok here, but ok elsewhere.
Of all the versions, the 1940 one is the best. The actors who do the roles of Mr. darcy and Elizabeth have done a spectacular performance which seems to inadequate in the others.
I have seen, and loved all of these versions of P&P! This is avery cool tribute! I do love all the Darcy portrayals-- but, my fave is Colin Firth.. Laurence Olivier is a close second, but the 40's version was so far from the book, he didn't have the chance to do it better. 5 Stars!
I'm proud to see that except for the 1980 version, I've seen every version of Pride And Prejudice, so I know what I'm talking about when I say your video rocks.
I loved this video. You really captured the essence of Pride & Prejudice with this.
Also, it really made me want to watch Bride & Prejudice, it looks like it's really fun.
I remember watching the one with Laurence Olivier AGES ago, long before I ever read the book, and laughing like mad. I kinda want to watch it again too.
I love Laurence Olivier! But I think Colin Firth is the ultimate Mr. Darcy. Don't get me wrong, the others were really good too but Firth just fits my idea of Mr. Darcy :)
The first time I ever saw Sir Lawrence Oliver was in this film. I've only ever seen one other man who would be compareable to his handsomeness in this film. I enjoy his dark look.
Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy is... *blush* perfect to me. At first, I thought he was...unbearable not handsome enough. The more I watch the more he grows on me. It's just that he looks...too soft to be like Mr. Darcy. XD As for Elizabeth, I really like Jennifer Ehle as the actress but looks wise, I like Keira a tiny bit more.
Collin Firth acts very well but... I don't know he sort of lack the charm to mesmerize me...
I love all of Jane Austen's books, but I think Pride & Prejudice is like her... signature.
I've watched all but the 1980 version, though I'll try to. I really should say that my favourite Elisabeth is in the 1995 version - Jennifer Ehle, and the one that most reminds me of Mr Darcy is Matthew Macfadyen from the 2005. I think the 1940 has unrealistic settings. As for Bride & Prejudice, it's interesting, but it is the one that follows the book the least. I love the 1995 and 2005 versions, though.
It was great! Pride and Prejudice is my favourite Jane Austen book. I love the 1995 version. I haven't seen the 1940 and 1980 version but i would like to!
I think Keira is the best Lizzy ever and Colin the best Mr.Darcy. Imagine if both of them were in the same version, It would be the best pride and prejudice ever!!! but he is too old now so....
I love keira and matthew's version, they make the characters very real - not caricatures. Though I used to love the BBc one, its good now only because of its length, if only the 2005 version was a mini-series!!! but I love both couples equally they do a good job, except maybe colin is over praised...his moody looks are too forced and unnatural at times. Lol yeah and ehle's eyes are brilliant! you can understand why darcy fell for her eyes! BUT they make her smile too much luks silly at times :(
Ive seen all versions. By far my favorite Elizabeth is the 2005 Keira Knightley and my favorite Darcy is, depending on my mood, Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen. My least favorite are those found in the 1940. That was a horrible representation of the novel and it never should have been in circulation though, Im reluctant to admit, it was funny!
Mute is on the video I mean. I don't know why YT gives us those error messages when we press an option. It is annoying. But I hope you'll still keep the video up since the mute option went through successfully.
That's great! too bad I saw only 2 versions, and currently have no chance to see others... this video makes wish to see them badly, and someday I will :)
How adorable! I totally loved it, Elizabeth and Darcy's love is a favorite for any Austen fan. How interesting to see so many different types of the same characters. Super cute.
This was wonderful! What a treat to see all the different Darcys and Elizabeths in one great video! I totally agree with you about the 1940, 1980, 1995, and 2005 versions.
Have you ever considered making a video featuring Bingley and Jane from the five versions? Please?
What a nice treat to different versions of P&P! I've seen only 2 here--1995 and 2005. The actress in Bollywood version is so beautiful. And I LOVE this song very much. I'll get to see the versions that I haven't seen yet. Thanks to you!
I think if you go into it for a bit of fun & a good laugh you might enjoy it :o) I tried to keep my Jane Austen obsession at bay whenever they changed anything around, and in itself the movie is a whole load of fun! Just my opinion..
Aw, what a great idea. :D I love the Bollywood version and the Colin Firth/Matthew MacFadyen versions too. Not seen the older ones, for some reason they seem too dated to appeal to me. :(
I quite agree with you the 1940 version is very funny, the 1995 I found lovely and quite fitful to the book & the 2005 a bit different... Keira Knightly style. I haven't seen the 1980 nor the Bollywood version...

My Fav...in this order.
1. BBC Version with Colin Firth and Ehle is the best. Its a flagship classic and romantic comedy liken the literature.
2. Bride & Prejudice. A light and humorous take yet remained true to the spirit of Jane Austin. A Romantic comedy.
3. The 2005 Kieray version. Although nice by itself, it was more Bronte than Austin. A serious romance without the comedy,
The others I am yet to see.

@Citabria007 I agree, you should watch the 1940s one, its one Youtube, and its hilarious, though pretty different from the original story.
