It does not hack? It uses many forms of network spoofing (my favorite being ARP Cache Poisoning) to monitor, modify and block internet traffic between two clients, among other features. For example, I had it spoof dns querys from all of the clients at an internet cafe so anything went to my own webserver that showed a "you got owned" message.

I can use ettercap as root, and is powerfull but you have some risks, but if you want enjoy ettercap well....

@schutzmarke47 you're using the worng interface this generally ocurr when you dont run ettercap under root..

when I made the arp attack, in one of the targets should go the gateway ip, and the rest of victims will go in the free target yeah excuse big mistake.

I'm preparing a new video with better results and major quality of video. Furthermore I used movie maker for the edition, but now I recomend camtasial.

You can execute ettercap as root but thats dangerous you can better a user is a member of ettercap

run the following command in the terminal:

ettercap -i eth0 -G

make sure you su to root, ettercap didn't pick up my interfaces until i switched because i was running standard usr
