  • throe it in the trash can electric junk!

  • This is leadership people... impressive...

  • what if the sensor becomes faulty? There should be some mechanical means to open the door as back-up

  • DAmn love the song in the back ground. Anyone know the name to it?

  • Are the Wardenclyffe towers next?? otherwise we are back to trading one dependency for another. And isnt it time we had self driving cars, sure would cut down on all the human errors and death toll that comes with it.

  • US would need to build several more Nuclear power plants if everyone had an electric car.

  • Good leap forward, but my main concern is mid-winter spending 4 hrs. in stop and go traffic on slippery roads with the heater cranked up.

  • Standards won't have 55 gallon cars until 2025. This is the future. We won't even use gas by 2025.

  • Beautiful car. My wife is scheduled to get one of these. I got a Chevy Volt Late last year.

  • if this car got 300 miles on the high way and they put 45 minute quick charging stations up and down I-95 on the east coast I think people would come around to the idea of electric.. Kind of like the car did when people were driving horse and buggy.

  • I hope that run on gasoline and electricity together

  • @rashedm001 why gasoline?

  • @FreeRiderDZ

Because the service you need at the time also a few mileage must go 1000 km or 700 km in Aldharov conditions such as climb Mount after the time of the buy will be a laughing stock and regret, although the external design creativity

  • @rashedm001 It will go near 500 km in a single charge (300 miles). That sounds good to me for PURE electric car.

  • @linkinfan12

Thanks for the reply, but 300 miles down with voltage multiplier to 200 or 250 miles !!!!!!!!!!

  • @rashedm001 Well, Voltage multiplier is very complicated unless you study electric engineering so I wouldn't know. But still that would be more than enough miles unless you plan on going for a road trip if that is the case it would not be the best car for that even if it's petrol.

  • production version will be better than the concept prototype?!?

    i want i want i want

  • How do you get this fixed when it brakes down,I guess Pep Boys is out so where. How much more is insurance going to be say over a G M Volt, do repairs cost a lot more than something like a Volt? S.Calif., outside of the Valley

  • Hmm, I live in Canada, and Tesla did start selling cars to Canada. So when I take my car for a wash in the winter the door handle will freeze shut and I will not be getting into my car.

  • Beautiful car, Tesla you have no worries rolling this out...there is a market, with 300 miles max range charging stations are not really and issue, I live in the country, 169 Km per day to work and back, this car no worries at all!!! cant wait I'll have to re-mortgage the house but it will be worth it!

  • But does it have train horns..

  • another 100.000+ euro car that i will never see on german autobahn :-|

  • @WiAmp the starting price for the car is 49.000 USD ... :)

  • @WiAmp It's most expensive 482 km version (300 miles) is 70k. 50k for it's cheapest 257 km (160 miles).

  • @saxmanchiro, thats average...

  • I wonder if Tesla will make some kind of sport or high performance version.

  • @MrLook555 It is a high performance(0-60 in 5 secs) car. Why need faster than that?

  • according to mr musk he wants to do a sport version and an all wheel drive version down the line.

  • man. i want on now. I am in Eastern NC i'll put up solar panels on my roof just to charge it.

  • This car is art, science, love, passion and sex on wheels!! I want one please lord let me get one!

  • THIS CAR IS SO FREAKING HOT.

  • spettacolare tesla number one from italy

  • this is so much better than the volt and that cheap little nissan leaf!

  • I wonder if you could hack the door handle to cut thieve's fingers... just a thought >:)))) :P

  • @nomainreason it would have to close in .12 mili seconds (to be sure nobody could react to it) for that to happen. It would risk your fingers as well.

  • oh my got they got a door,,

  • we have same dis car lol

  • Cool, when are they coming out with a V8 model?

  • @ThunderAppeal Cool, when are they coming out with a V8 model?

    just bumpin

  • Comment removed

  • props for getting Elon Musk on tape

  • I like the model S, I am just skeptical about the handle thingy.. It doesn't like like something that will withstand years of use in different weather conditions..

  • GMs EV-1 was 20 years ahead of its time and then they "crushed it" claiming theres NO market for expensive electric cars

    General MORONS !

  • @emforty2 If GM had gone ahead with the EV, it would nowadays probably be be the no.1 electric car manufacturer in the world...

  • @emforty2 GE is run by bastards. I will never buy from them.

  • @emforty2 While I agree with you, the main reason electric cars have been pushed aside is mainly due to the power of oil and other utility companys special interests (Hasbro) that donate multi millions each year to politicians and other people of power...at least thats my belief...also until they can produce a battery thats environmentally sound and way more efficient than current lithium batteries, i dont see electric cars becoming mainstream. Carbon nanotube batteries=future of electric cars

  • what is the price tag on the tessla cars?

  • My first car will be an hybrid (because i'm a student and I want my car to be ''greener'') but I swear that I will get an ELECTRIC car right after it and will convince people to do the same.

Electric cars are not a ''new'' style of car, they are an OBLIGATION, since ever!

  • Im a student and don't have so much money, but lithium batteries will highly decrease in next years and THEN, I will buy an electric car. No one will convince me to do another thing.

  • dude...i was convinced the moment i saw the Tesla Roadster lol. I can't wait until more companies start mass-producing EV's.

  • @haggman7 Tesla will mass produce a model for 30k $

  • @reere69 i heard its gonna be hatchback though.

  • just a nice car.

  • Wow yes... Please!!

  • BYD from China has a 5 passenger all electric car (E6) that will run 250 miles on a single charge. You can charge it up to 50% in less then 10 MINUTES!!! The Volt has a hard time with it's 40 mile range... which takes for ever to charge. They are planning on selling the E6 in the US in 2011 for half the price of the Volt. I bet you everything GM is sweating electric bullets at this point.

  • At the moment I have no car (never had one before either), but when I do, the car(s) I will drive will be fueled by electricity alone, and that is a fact and is not going to change.

I'm really hoping that more car manufacturers are noticing a trend of increase in interest and hopefully start to produce more electric cars (not hybrids).

  • Electric cars are the future. Period.

    Hybrids are just a sideshow.

  • @vikramvaranasi cars should be no part of our future. watch when this world is full of 9billion people and see if you can drive on the freeway.

  • @nima1234 and thats when you carpool

  • @imakedookie1 why not just ride a bike around places?

  • @nima1234 by bike i hope you mean motorbike?

  • @jystyle yes motorcycle, seems efficient. we just need to figure out a way to minimize deaths by accidents on motorcycles. hopefully an airbag can be employed with a certain type of suit or bike in order to prevent death from crashes, then we will be able to minimize traffic and reduce carbon emissions significantly.

  • @nima1234 sad but true. There will be never 9 billion people who can afford a car...

However. Cars give freedom to people, maybe more freedom then democracy.

  • @SoIstDassAlso lol hahahahah neither a car or democracy gives freedom...

  • @jystyle

    what does? missing arguments...

hey look. You live in a free socienty that gives you the chance to post ur statements on Youtube. Democracy is maybe not he best but it works out for me very well....

for example i have the freedom to blam you as an fucking communist! Thats freedom :D

  • @SoIstDassAlso lol hahaha its like saying Chocolate cures depression hahaha

Relevant education and technical knowledge of reality(cough... science) = Freedom

A car as you know it only serves to enslave you, look at how much the average person invest in a car: people allocate up 33% or more of their income. In 10 yrs its a rust bucket. Freedom my ass

    Car = Planned obsolescence

Communist? what are you from the 50s?

Btw calling names is not freedom its immature

  • Those door handles will freeze in cold weather! Conventional ones would be better!

  • I honestly havnt seen a door handle freeze since the 90's, lol. I'm sure they thought of it and have preventative measures.

  • My door handle froze on my car last week when we had a cold spell here in the UK!

Depends on the humidity factor ofcourse but the humidity here is quite high.

I suppose they have thought of it but to me the handles are gimmicky, unnecessary.

  • @tipoomaster

My whole car door occasionally gets frozen to the car.

  • Both cars are amazing and I am so happy they will be on the road. The next new car I buy will be 100% an electric car i love the Tesla Model S but the Volt will be more affordable. It will be a hard decision but I am just excited that there will be more than on true manufacture of electric vehicles on the road in one to two years!

  • @calirider209 The Volt is rumored to be anywhere from 50k to 60k. Not to mention the performance and range will be sub-par.

  • Everything I have heard is that the Volt will be under 30k.

  • its a really neat car but who can afford 20k down plus 1400 a month to buy one. plus it going to cost about 300 to 400 a month just to charge it up on your power bill. this car is for the rich only and the nature freaks that dont have a pot to piss in. once the electric ride gets under 30k now your talking. i will be buying one myself. peace out

  • Comment removed

  • it costs no more than ninety-nine cents a night for a full charge.

    Do your research.

  • Are you being paid to post what you do? You set up DeLorean too?

  • That is Tesla's plan. It's easier for a company to begin with a more expensive model selling to a less broad range than trying to immediately get a cheaper version into everyones hands.

Had Tesla started with a $30k model, they probably would have already been down the drain. They already have showed their plans of selling a $30k all electric car in the future, it's just a matter of time.

  • Just wait. The third model will be between 20 to 30k. This car is intended for the middle class bracket of the market place. This is a great car. The savings from this car are comparable to a 30k gas powered car.

If they use the Batter Place battery lease method, then they can probably charge 30 to 40k for the car.

  • to bad no one can afford a 1400 a month tesla car payment. plus 20k down. the middle class wont be buying this ride. dream on america. the price tag is to much for the average joe!!!

  • dude its only 49k , thats nothing, and i am getting in line this fall with 5 k as a down payment and i am getting mine in black :D

  • They won't admin it, but they obviously copied the back of the BMW X6 and the front of the Aston Martin!hehe

    Doesn't matter, I'll buy one!!!hehe

  • They also ripped the back of the Jag XFR w/ that chrome accent bar connecting the tail-lights. But @least they ripped off nice looking cars. lol.

  • i dont care what they copied to make that car. it just looks so sexy!

  • Oh sorry, but buying the Chevrolet Volt means that you're stuck with a conbustion-engine,and filling up with GAS-OLINE.

THAT is what I want to get rid off....

Bye bye Russians,Arabs etc...Bye bye oil.

    Hello solarpanels.

Respect yourself, get off the drug, and get selfsupporting.

YES,WE CAN !!! if we want it........

  • that car is so awesome looking ... cant wait for a low cost model .. it will sells alot! and yea chevrolet volt is a dumb joke .. like 60 KM before turning on combustion engine? cmon!

  • Thats not true. The Volt will have a 50 mile pure electric range and most people dont travel more than 50 miles per day. Plus forget about going on a road trip in Tesla b/c once that battery runs out of juice ur done. At least the Volt has a backup source of power. What if ur battery is low and ur area experiences a power outage and u cant recharge overnight? Ur S.O.L. in the Tesla but in the Volt u can just drive to the nearest gas station in the meantime.

  • Well the volt sort of needs a backup..I mean 50 miles? lol. In Tesla vehicles the battery is easily interchangable and anyone can buy a back-up. Run out of the 300 mile charge? Snap in a new 300 miles.

  • I hope Tesla Motors use the Better Place method of leasing the battery. This way they can charge only for the car. Then people will just lease the battery and not have to worry about it. Also with leasing the battery, the swap battery system can be used.

  • b/c battery packs r that cheap and easy 4 the average person to install. How many people travel 300 miles in a day anyway? Very few.

  • Actually, they are that easy to install. The price however, is likely quite up there. At any rate, its basically a 50mpc vs. 300mpc comparison. I mean, it's not really even a decision. By the way, its 40mpc for the Volt - not 50.

Personally, I do (on weekends) drive 50+ miles a day; but thats only because of the lifestyle I live.

  • How could u possibly know that they are easy to install. Have u ever installed one or observed a battery pack being installed on a Tesla?

And actually its a 300mpc vs 50mpc pure electric + 400 mile extended range through gas tank comparison. So it will be a decision for any1 who does their research.

  • Its called research.

You were the one who said "How many people drive 300 miles a day anyway?" but suddenly you boast of its 400mile extended range? Hypocrisy at its best.

At any rate, I guess you can vote for the half-assed vehicle. The one that was almost all-electric, but couldn't pass 50mpc that way.

    Kinda takes away the point.

  • U need to look up the def of the word hypocrisy it doesnt mean what u think it means.

And Im not "boasting" about anything. Its not my invention so I have nothing to boast about. I did some further research and clarified the facts. Unlike you who is satisfied w/ simply regurgitating something u obviously heard somewhere.

  • That's the definition of researching and clarifying facts - regurgitating something you heard elsewhere.

  • Uh the batteries aren't cheap at all. They are extremely expensive. That's why GM is going to produce a 25k car for 40k and Tesla has wisely decided to go from the top down and start with luxury. You could do battery leasing but that requires infrastructure. But however which way you cut it long trips are going to be easier to in a Volt than the model S untill the battery supporting infrastructure is in place.

  • @bdivy1 Its not the under 300 miles days that worry me,its the ones that are over that.

  • @bdivy1 i do... 350+ actually but i'd still get it just to get groceries if i had to

  • Gas station pumps work work without electricity.

  • what does that even mean?

  • If there is no electricity in the town. The gas station can not pump gas into your car. Either way volt or tesla you would need to go to another town for fuel.

  • unless u live in podunk town power is never out in an entire city. I said if u have a power outage in ur area, as in ur neighborhood. U wouldnt be able to charge overnight @ ur house but the gas station a couple miles away would have power.

  • And, not to mention, if you live in a podunk redneck town you can't afford one of these anyway ;)

this car is awesome. Can't wait until they come out.

  • yes but.... can you imagine the possibilities on tesla with a little back up generator? it would go over 600 mpg EASY!!!!

and i am still proud of this one :D

i cant wait for the working truck version of tesla :D:D:DD:DD::D:D

  • they should just have the handle stay out when the temp drops below freezing when parked that would solve that problem =)

  • Volt who?

  • lol ;-)

  • Lol. If anyone buys the volt over this, from a bankrupt government owned company nonetheless, then they are crazy.

  • please think and speak. the volt is at least $20,000 cheaper.

even if tesla S is better which we all know it is from range to speed to design sexiness, $20,000 is a lot.

some people buy a corolla instead of an accord because they can't pay $5000 more you know.

  • Yes, but that's the thing.. How does buying a volt at all make sense? Maybe you believe in a govt run company or somehow like the cars pathetic specs but I certainly don't. I personally would rather buy a Toyota or something.. The Tesla S is something that will perform for the money, the volt isn't. The technology is substandard, and that's about all there is to it.

  • @tipoomaster lol the Volt-less Volt; that what it should be call.

  • I hope it extends with a large amount of force. Some of live in states where our car will be covered in a sheet of ice.

  • well they tested the roadster in swedish winter conditions, and they hopefully will do that with this one too. And then they will see that it will freze :(

  • the battery packs don't do well under cold conditions, I prefer them not over engineering a car that is slated to be released around 2012, stick to basics and get production rolling. DO the flashy for a Limited edition model for those who care about handles that extend out when you approach....I can see a malfunction and not being able to get into your own car....

  • The battery packs are fine in the winter. They are well insulated and liquid heated as well as cooled. I do agree they just need to get these cars on the road. I never thought of the handle malfuntioning, that would be horrible, and you know somewhere down the line it will.

  • Same as your battery dying in your car and alarm reset and key remote wont work. Im sure thats why they kept the manual key instead os switching too a laser key liek the benz or push button only.
